    When I was in third grade, there was a kid named Parker in my class. He aced all the tests, and eventually the school started moving him up grade by grade. By the end of the school year, I remember going to lunch and everyone was talking about an article the local newspaper had printed; Parker had been accepted into college. .___. I just graduated high school and sometimes wonder where genious Parker is today...

      +Jordan Left There is no such thing as a positive stereotype. The whole "asians are smart" is not a "compliment." Stereotype at their core seek to reduce human beings to 2-dimensional characters. Stereotypes are, by their very function and nature, racist and destructive. I am an asian and I don't believe it is a compliment when someone says I'm smart purely because of my race.

    Being a genius is overrated. Not very many of these people have gone on to do much more than an average person can do with hard work and time.

    • @slk1771
      @slk1771 10 років тому +22

      Precisely.

    • @ParaditeRs
      @ParaditeRs 10 років тому +10

      You said it yourself, we can all do this, however these people do this as a hobby, as if it is just a game that is fun. They need to put in some work, but compared to the rest of us, the effort is negligible. Not only that, but because so little effort is truly required, these people can become proficient in many different areas of expertise, where as the rest of us have to use that same time just to become proficient in one particular field. Nah, being genius is not overrated.

    • @Requiem4Kill
      @Requiem4Kill 10 років тому +5

      ParaditeRs You're kind of wrong. They are proficient at what they do but most of them have some sort of disability or autism and many are just interested in one topic e.g. math etc.
      So say a genius can learn math really fast but he cant be a picaso even if he wanted to.

    • @funawesomefamily
      @funawesomefamily 10 років тому +1

      ParaditeRs They do have a huge advantage but many great leaders, doctors and scientists were fairly normal kids. If you constantly tell a kid how smart they are they begin to believe they don't have to try because, like you said, they really don't have to try that hard and they end up wasting their talent. In the end... hard work > intelligence.

    • @Jashanrangpuri
      @Jashanrangpuri 5 років тому

      That reminds me of the saying, Hard work beats talent , when talent doesn't work hard

    *Everyone fasten your trousers because I'm about to state something extremely controversial*:
    1) All of you who feel compelled to flaunt your areas of excellence in the comments, are not geniuses, by any means whatsoever. A "genius" would never be so intimidated to actually feel the need to validate themselves in the comment section of a ten minute video on the internet. That's right- you, you, *you*, and you- sit down, because you're clearly not different from everyone else.
    2) The term "genius" is very, *very* lenient nowadays. Parents left and right are exploiting the same developmental method meant for facilitating language learning in children. While it may seem remarkable that virtually an infant is playing virtuoso piano music, for example, the unfortunate truth is *these children are being forced to start training at extremely young ages, and thanks to the mind's susceptibility at this life period, skills form rapidly*. It is simply a "makeshift" way of achieving "gifts" in your child. Being manufactured is not worthy of the title "genius", but society will honor anything flashy and bizarre. Search "child _________ prodigy" in the search bar and you will see for yourself that this is a very pitiful and sick mentality (and trend) many children are subject to, and that these children are seldom actually self-taught, something that is truly *commendable*. *Of course, geniuses do exist*, but they're typically found in other places than *pop media*, something notorious already for selling any decent story.
    3) Self-proclaiming genius is...*incredibly stupid* overall. Dali was a self-proclaimed genius, but his circumstances were unique as he dedicated his entire life to proving his genius, and also, possessed a lot of ability.
    Being moved up a grade in school, scoring a perfect GPA, excelling in a curriculum which is intended for an age group slightly above yours-- all bullshit, sorry. These are not uncommon.
    To compare...
    I taught myself the 13th most difficult piano piece of all time, some years after I began teaching myself how to play piano.
    I also taught myself realism in human form and architecture, and I only rely on a writing pencil to make photorealistic images.
    Some say I'm an exceptional writer. Well, I enjoy writing in my spare time and have been doing so for years. Some also say my voice and vocal technique are incredible, which is something I've also been working on in my own time.
    *But*, do I call myself a "genius"? No, I wouldn't dare. Plenty of professionals consider me such, but I still am not convinced. What's the point? The title means nothing.
    So I'll be damned if I see some mediocre internet troll proclaiming genius when I worked myself into the ground training independently and making my *own* future, and don't even advertise my own achievements (unless of course for the purpose of conveying my point, lol.)
    *Anyway, thanks for taking the time to read this*.

      Well, I can't really disagree with you. There's another part of the psyche that is extremely powerful in the normal and daily actions of dictating what some humans will say. That part is simply called the "Id" and it's often fueled by an overly developed sense of ego. lol But, looking at the positive, at least their confident.

I don't hope/dream because I know that it will all fail one way or another. Yet he ended up becoming one of the most great minds in history with his brilliant theories. My statement was a bit broad saying that all infants are born with the same intelligence quotient, but my point stills stands that the an infant will likely not exceed the IQ of the one next to it drastically. I'm fairly sure that Albert's IQ rose as he aged.

      You can't create without learning. True genius is the potential to use what you learned to it's full potential so that you may create. By create I hope you don't mean literally create, because these children don't necessarily create anything. But aside from that, everything about knowledge and human intellect so far is only here due to learning. If we could not sense then we could not learn. Technically by your definition, with no senses, we'd still be geniuses and would be able to create inventions without using any if all of our senses. When I say your definition, I mean the definition I am replying to. Not the personal definition you may not have completely explained and thus respond to with with: "That's not what I meant, think before you comment." Do not take my comment heavily. Just consider this.

    I feel like children are underestimated. Often expected that they can't do anything. I've seen some pretty amazing children while travelling, but they didn't see themselves as special- most just saw themselves as normal because they were just doing what everyone else was doing.

      I know lots of people who started coding at age 6. There are even school programs that encourage it. It's not uncommon. Not sure what he means by "worked" though.
