    I don't think books will go completely away because reading on a kindle hurt my eyes from reading on it even though I'm always on a computer and I don't like thinking a book is 1000 dollars if it falls.

    • @blazeitmichael3413
      @blazeitmichael3413 10 років тому +1

      1. In the future when books will be gone I think they will have made kindles that don't hurt your eyes from reading on it
      2. From what I hear you use a desktop computer how would that break unless some one picked it up and threw it?
      3. Again, in the future I think when books aren't around that we will have more durable technology. And nothing I own that I read books on costs over 100 dollars. No where near one thousand.

    • @KFCoffice
      @KFCoffice 10 років тому +3

      Well I don't even have $20 so I cant afford breaking a kindle and I love books (warriors) and its a lot easier to read books and turn the page than a kindle for me.

    Call me old fashioned, but there are things that e-readers just can't replace. The way a new book smells when you first open it. The way you grasp the physical pages and turn them crisply. The way sometimes the ink gets printed darker on a certain page that makes you stop and wonder if the text has been this dark this whole time. I'm never trading my books in for e-readers.

      *gathers all of my books to myself and hugs them possessively* NO ONE WILL TAKE MY PRETTIES FROM ME!
      There is just something so much more relaxing about a room with shelves upon shelves of books, then some drab little electronic. Plus, sometimes those screens give me a headache if I stare at them too long while reading. >.>

    I doubt that the post office will go away. With more and more things being bought online, the post office is the one who gets it from the warehouse to your front door. They might eventually shift their focus towards parcels and become something like DHL or FedEx but they won't go away completely.

      I work for the post office and we have a no lay off clause in our contracts for employees over 7 years in. And we are already evolving our focus to parcels and amazon signed a deal with usps where we deliver amazon packages on Sundays. Each confirmed scan is 2.00 to the USPS. We aren't going anywhere

      +Kingpin Suited but what if the mail is to big for tubes they will have to make them bigger which would cost the goverment alot of money also making those tubes will cost alot of money also where would those tubes come from and how would the thing work how will it make it to the other side

    • @kendallanaya4127
      @kendallanaya4127 8 років тому

      +moekanz Well that isn't very accurate. Battery technology is great enough to work, which it has been for awhile, its more of mass producing the drones and figuring ways to prevent people from taking them or the drones damaging people's houses or hurting someone by accident.

    Nah, books won't disappear. E books can't overshadow the indescribable feeling of holding a book in your hands. Their smell, the feel of paper between your fingertips. There's something satisfying about progressing through the book until you eventually finish it. Then putting it down and just looking at it for a moment. There's a tiny feeling of accomplishment, like you actually did a thing. You don't get that from e books.

    paper books disappearing? I prefer those far more than reading it from screen. not just that there is the feeling of holding actual book. but personally my eyes dry like sahara when I try to read it from some pad.
    and I dont wanna see video about 'kids react to. old s* this episode, book.' and they gonna be given a real book and they gonna bash it like they bash every old thing that have been given in every episode.
    and CD's gonna be like vinyls next. and people gonna go to store and notice 'oh wow a real damn CD I havent seen these in ages' and their kids are like 'dad wtf is that'
    I think there would be problem with finger print lock. you have been fixing your flying car all day and wanna go back inside and you have some space goo on your hands and cant get the door open because the lock doesnt recognize your fingerprint because its covered in green goo. that could be a bad situation.

    Postal service will probably stay around in some form or another, since packages and legal letters are sent via post. Books will always stay around......not everything is on line, and students often need access to hard copies of documents.

    • @garrettjsawyer
      @garrettjsawyer 9 років тому

      Right, the postal service may shrink like it is now until they offer competitive services and adapt to market needs. They may get into the business of digital archiving or 3rd party delivery of things that aren't normally delivered by a postal service, like groceries, fast food and medicine. They will be used mainly by smaller businesses that don't have a delivery fleet of their own. And who knows, they may even have drones/robots or self driving delivery trucks that you self serve yourself with like a vending machine lol.

    • @nicholasw8193
      @nicholasw8193 9 років тому +1

      Apart from the packages and legal documents, I think you're most talking about Fax

    • @lone6718
      @lone6718 9 років тому

      mianersiyok Large businesses will use them too simply because it's cheaper then send UPS or Fedex at times. It all depends. Look at Amazon. The letter sending end of the postal service might be trimmed down, however I don't think it will ever go away because of the holidays, the as before mentioned legal documentation, irs documents, anyone with an IRA or 401K receive both digital and hard copy quarterly reports, stores will receive packages and Mail pertaining to their businesses and of course junk mail needs to get from one place to another some how. Grocery delivery? Grocery stores will do that - upon purchase of the aprotriate insurance for employees and product. Fast food - same as above. They are padding their income buy selling memorabilia - which works.

    Few of these will completely disappear in our lifetime. Like most things, they'll slowly become less and less used as they're replaced by other things. But it's not like you won't be able to find them. Take VHS and records for example; they're not really manufactured anymore but they're still very much in existence. There isn't a necessity for them anymore, but people still want them for nostalgia's sake. Just a look through the comments on this video tells you that books aren't leaving any time soon; they're too important to too many people (myself included!).

      Yes, books have been around for thousands of years, but don't forget the constant changes they've had, as well. They're now always typed instead of hand copied, they have paper-backs, and they're actually made of PAPER. Books have changed plenty from the vellum scrolls they originally were, so new revolutions in how books are distributed happens more often and with far less resistance from the public than you think.

    Books will never disappear, and if people try to make them disappear, I WILL BECOME A CRAZY OLD MAN WHO STORES BOOKS IN MY BASEMENT AND DOES NOTHING BUT READ THEM AND TELL KIDS TO GET OFF MY LAWN when I grow up.
    Books are superior, because they still handle water slightly better, don't run out of power, and can't be hacked remotely (although people can still put graffiti in them and tear pages out). Plus, books have been around forever; they survived through movies and TV shows and video games; I think they can still survive through E-Readers.
    Poor checks; their time is limited. CD's are probably a thing of the past too, given how much more memory can be stored in a smaller space with USB flash drives. Glasses will not become obsolete because google glasses. Don't forget sunglasses and safety goggles. Key locks may be pick-able, but electronic locks are hack-able.

      There's a certain comforting sense about holding a book, it marks it's use on the pages, you can see its history on the paper and they are just nice to hold, no need to charge them either. E-readers on the other hand are cold and professional, nothing about them says sit down comfortably and lose yourself in a novel, it is utility centric. You can't get nostalgia from something that completely wipes the memory of a page as soon as you click a button

    I doubt books will ever disappear. Every year there is releases such as Harry Potter, Hard Luck,Inferno,Proof of heaven, 50 shades of gray and so on that set new records for publishing. Also in order to get rid of books entirely we would have to destroy every library, including the library of congress which I do not think will happen.
    However I do think the 'Book Store' will die in our lifetime just like the 'Video Store', but services such as Amazon will replace them easily.

  • @backslash153

    Books won't disappear. Not only are there too old to be completely replaced (there not just a young cultural medium for stuff like the VHS was).
    I own a e-Reader but I don't use it very often.
    You can't skim an e-Book as fast as you can do a real book, and you won't be able to find things in an e-Book as fast as in normal books (although for most of this there is google).
    Reading a book is a lot of feeling, and many people won't give this feeling up.

    I really hope CDs don't go away, i will forever believe that physical representations of media will always have more sentimental value, as well the pure glee and curiosity you get when putting a new CD in your CD player for the first time without hearing the album before. I have a fairly large CD collection and when myself or others see it, it gives them an immediate representation of my taste, which is displayed proudly in my living room. Hopefully they will make a come back in the future just like vinyls.

    I will never get an e-reader. Also if anyone says that they're reading a book on one of those god-forsaken things, just correct them. Say, "it's a story not a book"... :'I

      its inevitable do you know how many trees would be saved if they stopped making books and paper all together the future is the future move with it or stay in the past tech is advancing no matter the time and life time books are gonna go away books were once scrolls and now there just information on a cloud of data advancement is always going to come either way

    • @WTrewarthaJones
      @WTrewarthaJones 10 років тому +3

      Anthony Guzman First things first. You will never get that feeling of ownership with an e-reader. You won't be able to feel the pages or amerce yourself quite as well as with a book. Second I would like you to think about where the metal comes from to make e-readers. The plastic is made of oil, and the factories that make them are most likely powered by oil, gas, or coal. Finally I am quite happy sitting in the past if it means that my life isn't devoid of a vital part of my culture and heritage like books

      Newer generations will lack your attachment to paper based reading, also i do not see how immersion is lost, i read both paper and machine and the distinction is lost upon me in this area.

      Barney Collington I just don't think it's the same. A swipe is not the same as a turn of a page. And you won't ever be able to build up a huge bookcase. Also I know for a fact that my kids will read books. I'll bring them up with books and they'll love them. Also I don't mind what others do I just know I will never give them up

    • @AmariFukui

      I admit, upon consideration it robs something indescribable to read a bedtime story to a child using a kindle as opposed to a book.

    Okay, I understand that letters won't be sent in the future, but what about packages with items? Or is there another department about tha? Not Ammerican, so I dunno. And also, I think that books will NEVER go away. They have lasted the testement of time (BC-AC). Of course, there will be some children that will 'preffer' e-books without ever turning a literal, existing page. People like me will never leave the way of the pages. I will never replace the tension of wondering what will be on the next page, instead of sliding down (or right) (or left). Believe me, I have tried it. I went to a shop for electronics and tried it. Couldn't wait to get home and read some pages. Books and paper pages will never go away.
