My DA DA Guitar bought from Ivor Marants in 1960

Still my favorite guitar, yes I have quite a few.. all types, but if I just want to 'doodle' on my own quietly, I always come back to this 61 yr old A.Dotras.Cordoba instrument which I bought new from Ivor Marants back in 1960.
I knew Ivor, and he said to me at the time, 'You won't be sorry' He was right, I seem to remember the cost was £19.00
This guitar has seen so many journeys, gigs, parties, damages, repairs, patches, mods etc but just listen to the tone, still like it was in 1962
Over the last couple of years I retune it, every now and then, to just two notes, A and D which is possible to play open for major and minor styles.

We recently had a session in which we were to judge (and listen) to iconic luthiers and
their instruments. Already finished I brought in my early sixties Dotras Cordoba as I
already knew what the reactions would be like. "This can't be true, such a cheap guitar
singing in all its' frequencies, beautifully balanced and loud at the same time. Bright
and at also humbly speaking when needed!" Of course I searched for other examples
from this maker , even in a higher range but never stumbled onto the sound qualities of
this one. Probably a one of a kind? Bought on a household auction. Needed to be restored
but the vital elements were still good. It's' price? 12 Euro's! Thanks for placing and ....
