Demons are interesting characters but it’s a shame they never got fleshed out in Super.
Sadly it's most likely due to the time it airs on TV; it's a little tricky to have on Sunday mornings.

I think King Piccolo deserves more love, he was such a fun villian. Also what if we got a Dragon ball story where Whis and Beerus are struggling against a demonic villian like Janemba? That would actually be kinda cool

Demons are definitely one of the most interesting aspects of Dragonball. I would like to see the Demon Realm Race to be prominent in main Dragonball canon. I hope the Demon Realm Race becomes a playable race in Xenoverse 3.
Now that I think about it we never get to see the demon realm not once, to this day we’re still wondering what the demon realm looks like

Yeah, I think itd be also fun if we could ally ourselves with the "Dark Empire" or "Time Breakers". Having something like a faction war with the Time Patrollers, and maybe something like "Mission Clashes" where players of either factions got conflicting objectives where they have to stop/defeat the other.
Anyhow, the Demonkind do sound like they could be pretty interesting, especially if they had like their own demonic counterparts to Gods of Destruction much like their Demonkings are kinda equivalents to the Supreme Kais. There could even be some kind of multiversal Rebellion arc, as they try to overthrow Zeno somehow.
I like to imagine that there was this great battle between angels and demons for the power (Toki Toki bird) to create the universe in there own image and the angels won, Leading to the current universal order that we have

Finally someone said it. The Demons from Heroes are some of the best characters in the entire franchise, especially Machikabura, Demigra, Fu, Towa and Mira. Those are among my favourites.

@@ProjektTaku As much as I liked Turles, Toriyama would really need to put a ton of thought into making him his own character.
Turles' movie was essentially a retelling of the Saiyan Saga with twists; instead of just having an evil Saiyan be a counterpart to Goku, they literally have an evil Saiyan who looks like Goku. And thanks to his darker complexion, he really does count as the OG Goku Black.
But besides being power hungry for some fruit, Turles is simply just like Raditz, Nappa, and Vegeta. So with that on top of his appearance, it would be very hard to have Turles stand out.
And ever since Turles, there's been 3 instances of badguy Goku (Ginyu's body swap, Cell consisting of Goku's DNA, and of course; Black), it would be super uninteresting to have ANOTHER canon villain be bad Goku.

Demons are definitely underrated, but humans are literal fodder. Hope they do something with both

Retconning Piccolo’s Demon heritage is one of the worst retcons. Being a Demon should be something you can strive for, like a G.o.D., not something your born into.
While I agree to an extent, I liked the turn they took. Goku being an alien as well as piccolo and kami was pretty cool. Kami being Earths guardian/god and piccolo being kamis evil side being called a “demon” still works in my eyes
How do you strive to be a demon? A demon is more of a manifestation of evil of darkness it seems more believable that someone is born into demonhood than to strive to become one. A god is more of a position of power a status in strength THAT seems more like somthing to strive for. You cant really strive to become a demon its a race of creatures, you are born into it.

I have my own personal headcanon.
I allways found it weird that they called the people of Namek the namekian race.
While it is common to name a species after their home planet (think earthlings) we are still the human race. Vegetan people are the Saija(jin/n) race, so why would the Namekian people not have their own race, especially since we seen other species living on Namek. Which is why i think of the Namekian people as the demon race.

It's really disappointing how as the property of Dragonball gets older the common theme that always seems to show up is wasted potential and unused or underutilized concepts that the series desperately needs instead of constantly playing it safe and rehashing the same formula and plot over and over again. There really is no legitimate reason for it to which makes it that much sadder in my opinion.

This is the reason why I prefer fan series like DB multiverse , xenoverse series and the DB heroes manga , cause the demon race create many interesting stores for Dragon ball than the actual series.

Now that I think about it we never get to see the demon realm not once, to this day we’re still wondering what the demon realm looks like.
Honestly, we need the Demons to be more expanded upon. If we're still in Universe 7 then we might as well explore that aspect which was barely explored on at all as is. The fact Demons were mentioned by an Angel really makes me believe they do have something planned for them later on.
3:15 Hilariously, Devilman's Devilmite Beam would have been Super Effective against Frieza and King Cold since both of their hearts are pure unadulterated evil and his technique is very effective against evil hearts.
Funny enough, he did just that in Budokai Tenkaichi 3 in one of the what if fights. :D
I like the many interpretations of demons/fiends in Dragon Ball. Seeing how the series is originally based off of Journey to the West, demons from that story had a variety of powers and capabilities that somewhat rivaled the higher deities in a heavens. Heavenly deities or even creatures turned demon seemed to be a frequent occurrence in the Journey to the West story, like the pet Ox of a heavenly alchemist turned into a demon and gave the Monkey King's party a considerably hard time, or even more funny, a Goddess's pet fish that escaped, turned into a powerful river demon, took over the home of a river God and nearly ate Tripitaka.
An Evil Piccolo arc in Super could be interesting. Maybe a story where he needs access to memories from the King Piccolo days, and does the good-evil split in an attempt to regain then, only for it to go predictably badly. And then in the process of returning to normal he gains abilities that start to bridge the power gap between him and the saiyans...
Well Towa has blue skin color, white hair and a magic staff, so I like to think that she was an angel that comes from one of the 4 destroyed universes and wants to change history because of that, making her lose her blue halo for turning evil
That certainly would be an interesting twist. Would that mean that their Masked Sayians are essentially candidates for their equivalent of Gods of Destruction?
I always thought what Dragon Ball would have been like if they stayed more towards the supernatural of things rather than do a space exploration in DBZ.

This is why your story about Cell turning good is my favorite story so far. Seeing how his Bronze form went down during the ToP seriously sent chills down my spine. I really do think it would do wonders if the series took a step back and looked into those bits of lore hanging all over (something like GT). The games such as DB Heroes, and more famously Xenoverse, have already paved the way for such stories to be made.
Was this inspired because of the ending of the latest Dragon Ball Multiverse chapter? If so I’m not complaining.
Those last few pages made up for the absolute dumpster fire that was at the beginning of that chapter with Son Bra.

Honestly, I think that the demon clan should be explored more. We never seen a demon who can utilize god ki, and it would be more interesting if there's a faction of them whom are probably rival the power of lower tier Ultra instinct.
I like to think that god ki is actually kai magic so if a demon use's god ki it would make them very unstable and powerfull

Not sure if this is just a dub thing, but I think Lord Slug and Bojack are also demons, or at least demon clans. Slug because of course, he's King Piccolo lol, and Bojack is definitely pure evil so it's not a stretch. Moro is another hot topic as one of Dragonball's most evil villains and looks like Satan. He may not have been named a demon, but he's pretty much a demon. Can't wait for "Demon God Hell absorbed Moro" in Heroes.

I've always viewed demons as predispositioned completely corrupt souls. A Demon, born in the D. Realm would reasonably fit this take. As well as King Piccolo and his demon clan.

I think deities in Dragon Ball lost a lot of mystique with Super, especially with Kais, Demons and Angels. Other ppl have said this but in DBZ it felt like ANY race of alien or creature or person could become a Kai with enough dedication. They kept this well for the GoDs where all GoDs are very different (besides Beerus and Champa who are brothers) but having all the angels, supreme kais, and demons either be related accordingly or have similar designs has always been disappointing. It hurts the idea that anyone anywhere could take these positions with the right amount and kind of training

I just watched S4 of OG DB and there is a scene where it states they are caught in limbo and shows them floating there, from piccolo's rampage and shown as such during it. So I'd go more with that then the guide.
I didn't realise lucifer was the name of a character in dragon ball, the series really is a mess of different religious ideas isnt it.
King Piccolo is my favorite demon in all of anime, and he will always be seen as a Demon to me since he was designed as one, and thought of to be an alien later

Man, you know what I want to see? What if Piccolo Jr maintained his demon powers/obtained Demon Ki.
It just feels like a waste to have him drop all the magic and clever trickery after he discovers he's a slugman. He's got a devil drill beam, a Masenko, and he even maintains that his school is the demon clan for a chunk of the training for the Saiyans. What if he could harness the powers of evil and impurity that lie within everyone's hearts? What if he could make Gotenks's vices into even more deadly weapons and abilities? What if it gave others incentive to not become unanimously good?
Who said that it's gone? That could well be why he meditates so much and tries to keep his temper in check throughout Z. Once making the decision to not be evil, he has to suppress it in a Neverending internal battle (because he's not taking the easy way out like Kami did and just ejecting that part of himself)
This made me realize something. Piccolo is the spawn of a demonic creature, the distilled toxicity of Kami's heart (not unlike the slime versions of Rick and Morty, come to think of it). Perhaps this is why he meditates so much as he more actively works against that demonic nature. Sure, he could do what Kami did and just eject that part of himself, but instead, he keeps it, he fights and dominates it. Every day. In some ways proving that, in terms of character, he's far surpassed Kami. This inner strength could be why he's freakishly powerful given his people (seriously, a three person fusion beating another comprised of half a race?).
So now think about this: What if Dabura hadn't spit on Piccolo? Would Babidi have seen that demon darkness inside Piccolo and drawn it out, even amplifying it with his Maijin power (which I imagine would be far more potent when used on a demonic creature and not just a 'bad heart')
Not sure where that could go, but it's an interesting thought.
I think Dragon Ball Online expanded on the Demon lore on the Namekian side, but I was never able to play through those quests with an accurate translation so I didn't understand almost anything lol But I know that they talk a lot about dark energy (demon ki?), evil intentions/bloodlust, corruption and things like that. I think namekian eggs are especially susceptible to external energies and emotions, and even good namekians can take advantage of "evil" energies for good, explaining many of the dark magic abilities Namekian players have, but don't take my word for it.
I'd love for them to be better utilized in the mainline series; for sure.
After Moro and this new arc with a balanced breakfast; I do hope we get some proper BBEG from the demon realm, or even have our heroes go there. Y'know, after we get some more Universe 6 Saiyan stuff.

What if, and stay with me on this, an entire series takes place in the demon realm? Give it a mature rating and make it bleak and bloody. It'd be a dream come true. The money would practically fall out of the sky.

An adventure in Demon Realm would be a fun saga.
My suggestion for a what if are three:
1. What if Launch was still a main character (like, if she went with Gohan, Krillin and Bulma to Namek and did stuff throughout the show)?
2. What if Chi-Chi became a Z-Fighter? Like, she actually kept up with her training alongside Goku and took part in more battles
3. What if Goku was the only Super Saiyan, like the legend suggested?
Just because were approaching Valentines day, doesn't mean that demons don't dabble in romance. Devils need love too, hence Succubi and Incubbi.

Demons coming back into the main story would rock!! Think of all the ribbing krillin would give Piccolo , as a cover of his own lingering PTSD. Getting over fear, enough to fight with a clear head, isn’t a definite show of getting over all trauma. I really think having the characters have a candid discussion of their traumas, and Piccolo’s Clan part in at least half of them would be very poignant. Bringing up Piccolo’s past does seem to be a taboo subject in cannon, except when Krillin is trying to make a bad joke. Would make for at least a mini arch.
I honestly would love to see demons become a bigger deal. I tried looking into the demons of dragon ball a while back and was just baffled by how inconsistent they seemed. Almost random, but the idea that anyone could just become a demon if they are cruel enough was fascinating as it left me wondering if Freeza would have met the criteria to become one I mean he seems more evil then king piccolo. And what would the effects of a demon (probably demon king all things considered) Freeza be like?

I really wish Demons make a comeback, and I especially what Hyper Dragon Ball Z (a fanmade fighting game) did with Piccolo, showcasing more of his Demon side in his moveset, while still maintaining his Namekian side.

To go even further, its said that despite all the wrong he did, Zamasu did have a "Pure Heart", and if a Kai has an evil heart that means they become a demon.
And we have no idea what happened to Zamasu's victims (if you wanna read into it maybe they helped trunks via spirit sword) but all this to say Zamasu was probably a Demon, despite boasting his godhood.

Still think the “majin” part of his name really only applied to how Bibidi was controlling him through /evil/, like how Vegeta was Majin-Vegeta under Babidi.
Well, there it goes. I had been coming up with my own Demon Realm mechanics to give the sentient ones a reason to hate Beerus, Frieza and Vegeta, especially the sentient females, but that mechanic won't work. I also lose out on the way my rift opens... if I want these characters at all, let alone in the mortal plane, then I have to go back to the drawing board. But thanks, this was obviously well hidden material.
Theres also Zahha from Dragon Ball Legends as well who's a Member of the Demon Race along with some other unmentioned Heroes characters.
Towa and Rubel and Mechikabura are my favourite Demons in Dragon Ball and Towa and Ruble currently are in SDBH Big Bang Mission and soon they are going to have new transformation.

I always remembered Shula from the original Dragonball series and mistaking him for the Demon king in the shows canon and I was surprised when I first saw Dabura in DBZ. I always wondered if Dabura's realm ad Shula's were one and the same and if that was the case where Dabura was during that time period.
honestly would love to see the demon realm be an arc in dragonball's main canon as i love dabura(favorite part of the buu saga and like him as an antagonist more than buu.),towa,fu,devilman(especially ackman which is my favorite other toriyama work that i'd love to see be integrated.) and the demon realm empire from heroes and enjoy it a bit more than some of the recent arcs(definitely wish moro had turned out to be from there instead of just being a very powerful prisoner.) as i love the demons use of magic(another very underrated part of dragonball as the z fighters don't have many strengths against it.) to outwit stronger opponents through trickery and think it would be a great challenge to get the other z fighters involved.

I agree I feel the Xenoverse games could've been a perfect way the use demons Mira and Demigra but especially Towa's cool design and intelligent character that been the perfect Xanthos Gambit villain which would feel like a Departure from regular villains in the series and could flow perfectly with game releases. But instead, we got Xenoverse lets explore the main story again and again and then give Goku the shine even in a game about you. Xenoverse so much story potential wasted.

We never got explained how exactly the Demon King Piccolo become in some form demonic, and Dabura was completely wasted on this...
And even now, with Godhs being around, it could have been great to have these things fleshed out, but alas, Toriyama being Toriyama, he creates something potentially cool, never uses it to its fullest, and throws it away...
I actually really wanna use the concept like the Demon Realm and the demons in general, in my own future works~. 🤭❤️

I like that Demons are in Dragon Ball in fact I want them to keep going until they get to the Dragon Ball equivalent to Satan I mean Xenos and The Grand Priest are either the equivalent of God in Dragon Ball or they are working for Him so shouldn't they also bring in the equivalent of Satan as an Antagonistic and use him to reveal who actually is the God of the Dragon Ball Multiverse

I dunno man. Dabura was supposed to be Perfect-Cell quality? That’s ridiculously strong as far as most reality goes.
My own personal fan-fic attaches the Disgaea multiverse to DB, so... Dabura and his sister Towa being “Overlords” is par for the course.
I think we would have gotten not only more demons but very powerful ones if the style of characters hadn't changed by the DBZ time. We went from demons and monsters in DB to aliens that power dwarf the demons right from the get go. It was only by Buu that they wanted to mix these sides together we just didn't get alot of it until DBS.
The Disco King of the Demon Realm never got his moment in the sun. And I love him so much.

I just realized that piccolo as a demon is explained. If u think of it as evil king piccolo was demonic as in some how infused with demonic energy or something like that, there for making piccolo a demon, but in a way both him & piccolo his son could over come the demonic part & break free. Then simply being a namekian & even if we never know how king piccolo got this demonic power or rank, we at least fix the question of are all namekians demons? & see y or how 1 namekian stands out as a demon. It seems to me it is more the translation that makes this hard to see, but I think that is how they meant it to be, that piccolo was demonic & not a demon from berth, or maybe because he was born of all the evil in a namekian, the fact that he had no good at that time gave him this demonic property

devil may cry's demons are a race (like saiyans) and some human could become a demon with a ritual. and 99% of demons here are evil

Super should of had a demon arc. Whis could have told Goku that Buu can’t partake in the tournament arcs because he’s a demon and it would anger/concern the other universes’ gods and Zeno himself if Buu was there.
(Maybe the demon realm formed from the universes that Zeno destroyed in the past. And the strongest demons are former kais, and destroyer gods of the destroyed universes.)
I suppose Moro is about as close to a demon as you can get even though he never had demonic characteristics despite his character design. I think a future arc of Dragonball Super should have the main villain be a demon (or make Demigra, Towa, Fu, etc., canon).
I wish Duborah had more screen time! Just as Dr Gero and 19 should have been the main androids, I would have loved the King of the Demons be the main big bad instead of Buu. But that’s just me
