I did my CBT last Friday and I just wanted to come back and say thank you for posting these videos I found it so helpful to let me know what to expect! Your videos are fantastic, I still enjoy watching them after the fact, Its great reminding me of the day, was great fun, to anyone else going into the CBT it's good fun and relatively easy hoping you have a great instructor like these guys or like I did, they're there to train and help so just relax and open your ears to their wisdom, and of course good luck!

Done my CBT on Monday and yes indicators off was a popular sound in my ears too lol 😆
Been out everyday and only left it on once so it's sinking in.
I Mist say my instructor was great with instructions, he repeated them 3 times and it was crystal clear. Numbering exits so it was virtually impossible to go the wrong way .
These videos have been a real help in helping know what to expect.
Looking forward to many years of motorbiking 😊

Great instruction. It's pretty amazing how, at the start, you're able to keep an eye on the trainee in front AND behind you AND the usual hazards and observations necessary to ride your own machine. I can barely manage the latter. :p Going to be doing my CBT on Monday (30 years old and never ridden/driven a motorised vehicle before, bit nervous so I'm drinking all these vids up to calm me down :p!). I met my instructor today briefly when I booked myself in, and he seems a nice chap. So here's hoping...

I remember when I started riding, the odd time I would forget to cancel my signals because coming from driving a car which has an audible signal inside the cabin and automatically cancelling signals, those luxuries are generally not available on a bike. A couple of rides out on the bike and I was well used to cancelling them though and could probably count on one hand the amount of times I actually did forget but it is clear why it is dangerous to forget and why it is a fail on the bike test if you forget.

    • @aitken

Uhh its 1 year later but i figure ill just put this here for anyone in the same position as you
Yes, they teach you everything you need to know about the basics of riding a bike during the CBT, even if its your 2nd,3rd,4th etc time going back to do it because it expired, they pretty much have a sheet of things they go through all the way from explaining what the basic controls are to Element E which is the road ride you see in the video, with of course all the manouvers in between.
Im pretty sure 99% of places have a stock of 125s and mopeds they let people use for the CBT. Usually its a Honda CG125 or Yamaha YBR125 for the geared bikes, not too sure about scooters/mopeds though.

RJH Motorbike Training St Helens. I managed to pass with two minors - avoidance test and emergency stop. Examiner said I took a little bit too long to bring the bike to a stop during the emergency stop, but it was just about accepted. I think he gave me the benefit of the doubt because he told me during the emergency stop, he takes into consideration the types of brakes used on the motorbike and the surface. It had been pouring down the night before and in the morning.
Time to focus on Mod 2 now!

The CBT is aimed at all levels. A lot can depend on Manual/gears, your road experience ie (car driver) your ability to pick up new skills etc.......
It can be challenging off road and then 2 hours on the road.
That said, approach it with the objective to learn, be prepared to put the time in (sometimes it can take longer than a day) and you will be fine. Listen to your Instructor, enjoy the day.

+fintan donnelly I bought a CB125F 3 months ago and I personally would not recommend it. As a budget learner bike, it's not very forgiving with its thin/cheap tyres, clunky gearbox and it struggles to hold 60mph. If I had the choice again, I'd get a used YZF-R125 for the same price or a Sinnis Apache for half the price. A few other good mentions, WR125X, GT125R, Reiju RS3, Megelli R125. That being said, I'm selling my CB125F if you're around the Swindon area xP

Hi. Certainly not the motorway thats not allowed. 3 lane roundabouts? That would depend on a couple of things i suppose. What roundabouts are within your CBT Centres area, and your ability/experience.

That's really good of you and I'll use this from now on it's a great 4 step proceedure, thanks a million, to be honest my mantra, every time I use my indicators, is to tell myself at each manouvre, whatever it might be left, right, roundabouts, you know whichever as soon as the manouvre is complete is, indicator off. It works 99.9% of the time, my instructor hasn't told me to cancel indicators for awhile so perhaps I'm getting there, but as I said, initially I was a nightmare for forgetting to cancel because of the level of concentration on everything else. Can't thank you enough for your advice.

It’s always surprises me that these instructors, don’t show new riders how to cancel there indicators correctly, they assume people know that you just need to press the button in not to push them into the middle, I feel it’s a natural thing to do, so more focus should be shown to new riders how to do this before going out on the road, as the last thing you need is someone in your ear keep telling you to cancel your signal, when your already dealing with more actions on the public road than usual. It just tells me the basics have not been embedded
