Good question, they’re two very different packs. The Rhake is comfortable immediately, as the straps are no where near as robust as those in the GR1. Plus the back panel is very nicely padded. The Heritage straps will take some breaking in for them to feel comfortable. Mine still aren’t 100% broken in. They’re comfortable, but not very much, I hear that happens after months and months and months of use. The GR1s back panel only provides some padding.
Nice review. This is one of those bags I’ve wanted for a long time, but never pulled the trigger. I’ve also never considered the Wax Canvas before, but this one looks really nice. How would you compare the shoulder straps to the Bellroy Apex? I was blown away at how thin the Apex straps are. Are the Rhake’s in the same ballpark? Since you’re a pouch guy, you might want to consider doing a pouch video. I have a few I really like, but you know, there are always new options out there worth exploring. Keep up the great work!
Thanks JC! The Waxed Canvas is so nice on this pack. I’d venture to say it’s the way to go. The VX version would probably be quite loud. In terms of the straps, the Rhake straps are much wider, and have about 1/3 more padding than the Apex. The Apex is comfortable in its own right, but the Rhake takes it to another level. They’re two very different packs. The Apex is primarily an internal bag and the Rhake is mostly external. By the way, if you are interested in this pack, I am currently selling it. As for a pouch video, that’s a great idea. I’ll probably do one that’s couched in what my usual EDC for work is. Thanks again for the support.
@@ofthetraveler where are you selling the bag? eBay? I’ve heard you mention before that you often sell bags. Do you sell most of the bags you review? I always wonder what bag reviewers do with all their items. I mean, I’m into it, but I don’t want to dedicate a room in my house for my bag collection.
@@jcpalermo2576 Usually on the Carryology Classifieds Facebook group, if I don’t get a bite there, I use eBay. Most of my bags I gift to friends and family once I am done. I only keep ones that fill a niche or ones that truly spark joy.
I sold my original a few years back. I still miss it. I think I'll end up buying the wx version. Thanks for the review.
Thanks for sharing. how is it comfort wise compare to the Goruck gr1 heritage?
