Hi there, the MCB you have is 1st gen. The load lifters were removed from further iterations. So if you buy from MW right now both VX21 and MCB will come without the load lifters. Basically, when it comes to load lifters the difference is not with the Rhake colors/fabrics, but with generations :)
Thanks for the info! You are right I also added a update for the information on the description also pinned so everyone can see in case they don’t read the description.
Thought I'd share my experience in the comments. Just ordered my vx. Hyped to get it. I have a first Gen MCB and I have absolutely loved it. I do use mine as a travel bag and carry two 15 inch MBP's. I can roll up about 5-6 days worth of outfits inside but it does become a tight squeeze after an extra pair of jeans and my Tashtego rollup dopp kit. I didn't watch this till after I ordered because they have a 20% off sale today which was the same deal I did for my MCB years ago and it knocks just about $100 off that $465 retail price. (it's a rare sale so hop on that when you can.) My MCB zipper of the side laptop actually ripped the zipper lining after a few years of use. I think it's the nature of the design where it will bunch up that lower corner when placed on the ground. I'll review the new one to see if it will be a similar issue but as soon as I get it the Warranty team from MW said to send it in. I had REI put in a temp zipper fix for me since I was on a trip for a month at the time. I'll also follow up with how that process goes when I get my MCB back. I absolutely love the Rhake. It's the most versatile bag I've ever had and have yet to find anything else that works for me as a Motion Designer. Great review William. Thanks!
I can tell just by reading parts of this we share the same love for the rhake man I feel you on all the love for it. It might have some shortcomings but seriously one of the best medium sized backpacks MW makes!
@@williamsung One of my favorite stories with this bag is when I was at the airport I forgot I left a full flask of Jameson in the water bottle pocket and the TSA Agent said if I "emptied it" he would let me keep it, suggesting I drink it right there in line... While that was tempting.. I didn't think 8oz of whiskey at 5:30 in the morning would be an ideal start to my full planned day of vacation. haha.
Thanks for the review! Was wondering how tall you are and if you feel like the Rhake is too big for you? I'm 5'8" and feel like it may look too big on me.
Hey man thanks for commenting yea you know I think it will look fine at 5’8 because the backpack sits pretty high on the back like mid head is where the top sits. If you have a shorter torso maybe it will look a little big but overall I think you’ll be looking good with a rhake at 5’8
@@williamsung Awesome, just bit the bullet. Got the VX in black. Thanks for your look at it, it was one of the few videos with the VX on youtube so it was super helpful
Mike Sick hey are you talking about the outside pockets? There seems to be a 1/8 inch piece of foam on both. my version of the vx is also the horizontal pattern custom made for the 2nd or 3rd iteration I heard many people who ordered new rhakes had it go back to the vertical orientation they may have stopped using the foam but I am not sure. I believe it should still be there as it provides a little protection for the outside pockets
@@williamsung yea the pockets. Hmmm ya I don't really feel padding on mines ☹️ big reason why I bought since I got my hardrove, switch, and Fuji camera in the front and that padding would be extra insurance. I feel SOMETHING on both sides but it doesn't quiet feel like padding. I'ma email MW to confirm

William Sung you are very welcome! I had 1st gen MCB Rhake and speak from experience :) Still, very nice informative video, looking forward to more!

Super good bag excited for you!
I just got my VX version. I didn't notice the soft padding in the ribs. Is it only on the Camo version?

Mike Sick it’s definitely not hard padding just a small layer of foam
Mike Sick I think you will need their camera insert to turn the rhake into a padded camera bag.
@@williamsung for sure. Something is better then nothing. I emailed em!
Can you swap out fidlock for cobra on vx?
Thanks for this bro
