  • Thousands of migrants arrive at the US-Mexican border every month, trying to make their way into the US. A crisis which US President Biden answered with new immigration regulations. DW’s Carolina Chimoy and Ines Pohl traveled to the Mexican border city of Reynosa, to find out what the latest US asylum rules mean for thousands of migrants hoping to enter the country.

It is better to have the app than to not have the app. The previous methods to apply for asylum are still there. This is a step in the right direction, albeit not as large a step as people would like.

How many safe countries have they walked through?
Asylum is not meant to make more money!! It’s to be safe from death in your homeland! Your first country (if you felt your life is in peril in your homeland) is the “safe” country according to UN!!
Funny how all these “asylum” seekers have the audacity to say no to other countries they should be seeking asylum from to reach the US! Surely they should be so scared for their lives that they’ll be happy for anywhere! Not get to choose!
Or they’re really not fearing for their lives, as they claim

By the way Mexico is deporting a lot of them too, it's not like Mexico will take all of them. The US has to take it's fair share but it really hasn't been. If the US were to grant assylum to as many people as a portion of our population as Canada, we would accept 500k per year but we only granted 23 k last year. We also don't think of them as our neighbors to the extent that they are. Central America and Haiti especially are our neighbors

Maybe before throwing more free labor at corporate farms and other unscrupulous businesses out there do something to help working people already here. Like capping the pay of any company officer to 50 times what their lowest wage earner makes? Increase the minimum wage to something you could actually live on? ANYTHING? No? A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame
Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name

Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command
The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame.

-"The New Colossus" is a sonnet by American poet Emma Lazarus (1849-1887). She wrote the poem in 1883 to raise money for the construction of a pedestal for the Statue of Liberty (Liberty Enlightening the World).[2] In 1903, the poem was cast onto a bronze plaque and mounted inside the pedestal's lower level.

As cell phone prices instantly sky rocket and can only be found at your local neighborhood cartel immigration center/phone shop. Great idea. Like everyone has a phone in mexico, much less electricity to charge it.

The majority of Mexicans have a phone, these asylum seekers are mostly from Central and South America. The idea was to ease the application processes, you don't need to have a phone, just a colleague to borrow from his one for 5min.

@@katyedyakova2103mericans donate more to charity in total than any other nation, the UK in second. China, which seems to be popular in your country these days, doesn’t even have the concept of charity after the Cultural Revolution destroyed ancient Chinese traditions. Compare to Taiwan where they are very charitable. Every country has pricks, try not to be anti-xxx just because it’s fashionable.

She did cut off the correspondant rather rudely. You send one of your employees all the way to the US border to report on a situation, but then you only allow about 55 seconds for their report. What kind of return on investment is that? Not just you, DW, most of the news is like that.
