I highly recommend playing Hollow Knight again with one mod (and its accompanying QoL mods) enabled: Hallownest Vocalized. This does one thing to the game: every character and every bit of text gets VOICE ACTING!
May I offer a small correction? Dying during a Steel Soul run doesn't actually erase your save file, it's actually even worse than that. If you fail a Steel Soul run by dying, the save file becomes inert and useless. In other words; your save file dies. And you have to manually erase it, effectively giving your failed run a burial, if you wish to ever use that slot again. It's a walk of shame, and I think that was a hilarious idea by Team Cherry.
LOL, yeahhh I realized that when I died on my first Steel Soul run. I had always heard that (prolly from watching this video) "THE SAVE FILE GETS ERASED"...but I was HEARTBROKEN when I realized the save file STAYS, showing a Shattered Mask forcing you to *erase the save file yourself*....Seeing the save file there kept me hoping like I could find a way to restore it, even though I KNEW there WASN'T.... Jirard is right though.... *STEEL SOUL IS NOT FOR THE FAINT OF HEART, YOU GOTTA BE A FUCKIN' SAVAGE AT THIS GAME IF YOU WANT TO ATTEMPT IT.*

I bought Hollow Knight completely blind. Just saw it was on sale on Switch and said "Metroidvania" in the description and I decided to give it a try. This has been the first time since I was a child that I had this feeling of overwhelming excitement for the unknown in a video game. It was an even greater experience than Mario Odyssee or Breath of the Wild because I had no idea what I was in for. Every step was simultaneously enchanting and terrifying. I got Goosebumps every time the environment changed. I just couldn't put it away and though I poured hours and hours into it I was still unable to find every secret and I'm sure I still only know half of what Hollow Knight has to offer. This childlike wonder I experienced for the first time in Mario 64 and Ocarina of Time. I didn't think I could get there again.

Holy sh*t, he actually did the final Godmaster with all bindings, the absolute madman... I could barely muster enough willpower to REACH the challenge itself
the vid shows him fighting Absolute Radiance with all the bindings and then later shows all five pantheon orbs glowing gold in his inventory, so it appears that he did it. it is hard to believe though. the amount of people who have actually beaten the pantheon of hallownest with all bindings at once could very well be in the single-digits. it's such a daunting and unreasonable challenge that I doubt the developers expected many people at all to do it. the uploader is absolutely right in that it is totally not recommended to try that last pantheon with all the bindings at once. it's sheer insanity.
@@Seiyol I mean, it doesn't seem so impossible knowing that BEFORE going to the pantheons he first beat all bosses in their radiant difficulty. Once you've done that, the pantheons seem... doable, I guess. Even with all the bindings. But what hurts me the most is that he claims he did all of this within 150 hours of total playtime. I mean... I'm 90+ hours in the game and still haven't beaten the 4th pantheon. And I haven't tried the steelsoul mode yet... This guy's a beast.
You don't have to do all four bindings in one go, you can do them one at a time. (It changes the bindings to glow gold. I doubt most people care about having a minor aesthetic change.) Doing the bindings spawn lifeblood cocoons in the pantheons, making it easier to complete them. (They give extra health/masks)
Also, doing all the bindings and unlocking the Land of Storms and Weathered Mask Hunter's Journal Entry is not required for any achievements, which... thankful to Team Cherry for that. If you're an absolute masochist who has too much time on their hands, go for it. If you're just the average completionist who just wants to 112% every game they play, you don't have to bother will doing all bindings at the same time.
My personal best indie game of all time. This game made me buy indie games and believe in them. Shovel Knight, Salt and Sanctuary and Celeste are there as well.
Celeste, Shovel Knight, this, and honestly Enter the Gungeon are all ones for me, I just enjoy pixel art quite a lot (I love modern stuff as well though), and they've really been doing some amazing things with pixels lately in my opinion...
The game that made me believe in indie games was cave story. I played it on the Wii a few years ago and I'm still blown away by the fact that it took one guy 5 years to make it. It was a true labor of love
@@mertcat well to be fair I spent 20 hours in forgotten crossroads cause I kept quitting the game for months on end. So you know how people will say some of the fights in this game are like a dance? Well I don’t see it that way for me it’s more like making music because you know what you must do and you have to execute perfectly at the exact time it is called for, with absolute radiance though that is a dance just flowing with the movements and reacting to the patterns naturally. It’s honestly so hard but still doable.
Yeah I don't like to equate value directly with length, but with this game I was considering buying it for me Ps4, and buying the Switch bundle with the Hollow Knight plushie... Then I'd have paid $60 and still feel like that would be a deal.
It’s so cheap for being so amazing I’ve been playing it for about two years now and I always find ways to improve and love how different it feels every time you play it.

One of my favorite games if all time, one that includes such a diverse cast of characters like: Gay bugs, Mourning bugs, Dead bugs, Mindless bugs, Atractive bugs, Infected bugs, and a whole lot of other I can't even remember, love this game so much!
Ok listen,if anything in this review intrigues you and makes you want to buy this game, please remember this 15 dollars,I have spent over 60 hours on this game and is easily my favourite Metroidvania and in my top 10 games of all time, the art style is great, the difficulty is just hard enough and gives you that “ok just one more try” feeling each time you die and if a boss is too hard you can often go get stronger then come back, each boss is different and fun to fight, they’ll often kick your ass on a first try but when you win it’s an ginormous feeling of satisfaction when you win. So yeah, this game is worth it,would be worth 60 if they put it as that. An easy must buy
there's a pine tree here in Brazil that have edible cones(they look more like huge balls tough). The tree is called Araucaria (it's a weird pine tree the leaves are upwards) and the seeds (pinhão) taste sooooo good after cooked I'm not kidding. I like to eat them with hot chocolate.
They had one that was grown at a zoo in England (Cricket St Thomas before they ruined it); used to love looking at it and always wanted to try and grow one (though I’d be long dead before it grew to any sort of impressive size!) It’s also known as a “Monkey-Puzzle” tree here

I'd say it's the best game of the past few years. Or at least the best indie game of the past few years. But completing it is as hard as Jirard says, though it took me a few less hours than it took him to complete it.
The bindings do unlock a few things. Completing at least 8 separate binding challenges unlocks lifeblood cocoons throughout the pantheons. Doing more will upgrade them to give more lifeblood masks. Also you don't need to do all the bindings at once to access the Land of Storms. You can do one at a time or any combination and it'll still work. Kudos to you for actually completing them with all bindings! You'll be up there with the Hollow Knight masters...

Hey man, love your videos.
I love your videos so much and I wouldn’t have beat the game without you
What's the legend doing here?
Darren Lloyd Same here. Thanks to his videos I was able to complete most of it and enjoy the game even more. Still trying to complete the 112% but I cant make it past 106%.
Holy sh*t, he actually did the final Godmaster with all bindings, the absolute madman...
I could barely muster enough willpower to REACH the challenge itself
I doubt he did
Yeah I'm sorry, but I'm calling bullshit on that one haha.
the vid shows him fighting Absolute Radiance with all the bindings and then later shows all five pantheon orbs glowing gold in his inventory, so it appears that he did it.
it is hard to believe though. the amount of people who have actually beaten the pantheon of hallownest with all bindings at once could very well be in the single-digits. it's such a daunting and unreasonable challenge that I doubt the developers expected many people at all to do it. the uploader is absolutely right in that it is totally not recommended to try that last pantheon with all the bindings at once. it's sheer insanity.
@@ChrysothemisJV Same. I'm at a similar point and with similar hours. Compared to this guy, it looks like I have been taking my SWEEEET time.
Excellent taste!
The game that made me believe in indie games was cave story. I played it on the Wii a few years ago and I'm still blown away by the fact that it took one guy 5 years to make it. It was a true labor of love

They had one that was grown at a zoo in England (Cricket St Thomas before they ruined it); used to love looking at it and always wanted to try and grow one (though I’d be long dead before it grew to any sort of impressive size!) It’s also known as a “Monkey-Puzzle” tree here

To me Hollow knights narrative is much more meaningful and emotional when compared to dark souls or any other souls game.
I love Souls games (the first Dark Souls has by far the best overall story/lore IMO) but yeah I agree. Honestly Hollow Knight is maybe the apotheosis of both Soulslikes and metroidvanias.
