    Just so you know mate, crows foot on torque wrenches need to be perpindicular to the handle not inline for accurate tightening. This is because torque is a force X distance and having the crows foot in any other orientation adds distance effectively adding torque.

    • @EvansMTBSaga
      @EvansMTBSaga  3 роки тому +6

      Good tip! Off camera I tried it in several orientations and thought it was quite amusing. I will keep that in mind for next time.

      The difference on a crows foot is minimal. A long dog bone can make a significant difference. Low torques on short crows foot isn’t worth worrying about. But you are technically correct.

    Nice! I did something very similar and I’ve also been calling it a VRX+! Haha! I bought a 2020 Vitus Mythique last summer and because of availability (and budget) I went with the VR. The first thing I did was add a OneUp Dropper post. Next I went after the suspension. The X-Fusion stuff is ok but it’s definitely budget grade. I saved up and put a new 150mm Z2 on it and a used 140mm Rockshox Monarch RT, that I also had to rebuild. I upgraded the front rotor to a 203 a month or so ago and soon I’ll replace the brakes themselves. For now though, this thing rides like a dream!

    I know this is an old post but, if you use Crow's feet with a torque wrench you have to put it at 90° to the torque wrench. Otherwise, you are adding leverage and increasing the amount of torque compared to what the torque wrench is reading.

    Hey mate nice video, best way to learn is defs just pulling it apart ! Just so you know with a torque wrench if your using a crows foot or extension you have to have it at a 90 degree angle not straight or else it changes the length thereby the torque will be wrong.. in your case of having it straight the torque will be higher than the dial indicates..

  • @ImageLume
    @ImageLume Рік тому

    Crows feet also have a torque multiplier if not used at 90 degrees so a NM setting on the wrench equates to a higher value because of the mechanical advantage of the crows foot.

      He doesn't seem to know much about setup and I guess he likes it really soft. 🤷‍♂️ what he doesn't seem to understand is that you have to balance the front and the rear. If he's running 30% at the rear then he should be running no less than 25%+ at the front if he wants the bike to be balanced. My guess is he's not running 25% at the front or more. Which means the bike is probably not setup properly, he may like the way rides but it could be better. Balancing the suspension is very vital to proper load transfer.

    You can't just use any grease...the seals can be degraded...lucky for u the Slikoleum slick honey (if that's what u used) is the same grease as sram butter (that rockshox used to spec), so u are lucky. Suspension grease is non corrosive to the nitrile seals/oring used in forks/shocks. But many, including other slikoleum greases aren't! RS now spec the dynamic grease +oil as it performs way way better... much smoother.

    Hi. Im going to give it a go to refurbish my stuck Monarch RT Debonair for my Hightower. I took the sleeve off to find that I had 7 of them rubber bands around the air chamber. I see yours has 3.
    One of the rubber bands had somehow curled down past the top end of the cylinder and was over lapping the middle rubber ring on it. So I am guessing that was the problem with it.
    I will admit I most likely have closer to 1000 hours on it than a 100 hours. So its no wonder it needs servicing.
    But my question is... if you or anyone else here knows.... WHY does mine have 7 red rubber bands around it ? Does it have something to do with tuning it ?
    I used to be 375lbs and am now around 300. Santa Cruz here in UK originally tuned it for me for my weight in 2017 so it wasn't done by amateur I assume ?
    Should I look into maybe not put as many of them red rubber bands in it when I service it ?

      I'm happy with 150mm on my Nucleus VR. In fact, I don't think I could fit longer travel. Measure how much seatpost is currently out of the frame and subtract 20mm

    • @EvansMTBSaga

      I'd say no to a 200mm dropper. I have a 125mm dropper and have the seat clamped kinda high, which works out great. Really no need for the seat to go all the way slammed. In your case, I'd say a 150mm would be perfect.
