Mia, you have to look up the video for this song. It's great to watch the musicians play their parts. And a great chance to enjoy the classic bell bottoms
You pronounced it properly. Skynyrd is a southern rock band, tragically, most of the band members died in a plane crash. You should check out Freebird and Simple Man, please. Awesome reaction, 10 thumbs up!!!!
This was an anthem for an entire generation of southerners. Great band / great lyrics. Lynyrd Skynyrd is the band name (named after their high school coach). Ronny Van Zant is the lead singer. Great reaction, Mia! ❤❤❤🙏🙏😊
"Call Me the Breeze" is awesome, but actually everything from Lynyrd Skynyrd is pure fire. As previously mentioned, "Freebird" live in Oakland is legendary.
Southern Rock is the considered genre. You got the name perfectly the first time you said it. Lynyrd Skynyrd wrote many great road worthy songs. There is a live for this song from July 1977 in Oakland, California, at a music festival called A Day On The Green. There is another song called Free Bird, which has a live version from this same show. They closed their set that day with SHA and then Freebird. Phenomenal and Iconic stuff. One other song is Simple Man, and in my opinion, these 3 songs are their most popular. I would just add, listen to the studios of all 3 first before the live version. Great reaction, and Thank you.
T for Texas T for Tennessee is a banger no other band I know could take a country song written in 1926 and turn it into an all out jam session. Long Live Southern Rock 🎸🎸🎸🤘✌️🇺🇸🙏❤️
"The Ballad of Curtis Loew" is a fantastic storytelling song and a huge fan favorite. For something really upbeat, check out "Honky Tonk Night Time Man", on their last album before the plane crash. Everybody just shows off during this one and there is some absolutely fantastic guitar playing and drumming and piano and everything.
I grew up just south of Jacksonville FL a few miles from where they practiced and lived, all of the main original members have passed away, one of the guitarists(Gary Rossington) was the last one, died about 2 years ago.
This is a classic song right here. It's been played in multiple movies and TV shows love it love the video Mia stay motivated Dream big 1 mill on the way Queen ❤️🌹
You pronounced their name perfectly Mia, they are an awesome southern rock band , would love to see you do more reviews of them , absolutely love your reactions ❤
This is one of the biggest songs in rock history. I remember one day when I was in the Army at Ft. Knox back in the 80's, a group of guys were just sitting around chilling and my roommate had like four guitars (He was an excellent guitarist) I am pretty sure he has actually played with some big name acts, and began passing them out to some of the guys sitting around. I got an acoustic guitar, another guy got a lead guitar, another guy got a guitar and my roommate got the bass guitar. We were trying to figure out a song all of us knew and could play and this song "Sweet Home Alabama" came up, so we started playing. I was actually shocked that we sounded as good as we did. I mean four guys, one guy from Florida, my roommate from New York City, I can't remember where the other guy was from and I was from Kentucky. Four guys from all over the country having one song we knew how to play in common (This Song) and played it well, was kind of a special memory. I miss those kind of days very much.
Great reaction. Those kyrics have always spoken to me as well. You should definitely check out Free Bird live in Oakland 1977. My favorite song of all time. Great performance! And it adds more feeling to it as the lead singer Ronnie Van Zant (who wrote the lyrics), one of the guitarists Steve Gaines, and one of the backup singer Cassie Gaines (Steve's sis) died in a plane wreck 3 months after this performance.
Skynyrd is one of the best road trip bands. Southern Rock in general is good for that. The guitar solo in "Free Bird" is a great way to ear a speeding ticket. Good to see young people who are eager for some guidance in their life of discovery. Kid Rock uses some of this song in "All Summer Long", along with a Bob Seger song and I think "Werewolf in London". There's a whole back story about the Neil Young reference in "Sweet Home Alabama". Young did a song called "Southern Man" that was critical of racism in the South. Even Young admitted his song might have been over the top or condescending, though it painted a stark picture.
Sweet home alabama is a feel good, well loved song that is so recognisable and the soundtrack for one of the greatest movies ever made, FORREST GUMP. Micheal Jacksons Thriller is a perfect song to react to at this time of year, Halloween
In the 1970’s Lynyrd Skynyrd were part of this new genre dubbed “Southern Rock.” Bands include The Allman Brothers, The Doobie Brothers, The Charlie Daniels Band & Alabama (the last two bands were more country than rock but were lumped in with the rest). Lynyrd Skynyrd went on to influence a plethora of country rock bands & artists, most popular is The Drive-By Truckers, whose songs “Ronnie & Neil” and “The Devil Won’t Stay” I would highly recommend to you to listen.
That's exactly how you pronounce the band's name, you did good. Lynyrd Skynyrd named themselves after their former gym teacher, Leonard Skinner, as a way to mock him. Skinner was a strict disciplinarian at their high school in Jacksonville, Florida who frequently sent students to the principal's office for having long hair. The band members were among those students. The band and Skinner eventually became friends, and he even helped design their 1975 album Nothing Fancy.
This was every southern guy's anthem back in the day,and also Freebird! You should really check out some ZZ Top,38 Special,Boston, and Foreigner! Just to name a few out of many! You like the boom bass/drum sound, check out Foreigner "Jukebox Hero"👍😉
Neil Young, wrote the song Southern man , and Stereo type the south, pissed Ronnie off,Ed king and Gary came up with the guitars, Neil Young doesn't sing the song in concert anymore ❤
Great start with Lynyrd Skynyrd, Mia! If you enjoyed Sweet Home Alabama and Simple Man, you could try Coming Home, a deep cut. Nobody reacts to it, but will enter your soul ... I'm willing to bet ... 👍
Your reaction to the guitar around 6:35 tells me that you're going to ABSOLUTELY LOVE Freebird. Be warned, the first half and second half are super different. You'll see after you hear it! One of the greatest guitar songs ever.
You will want to check out Freebird too. I'll warn you though, 1st half of song is slow, but 2nd half is fast tempo and more than makes up for the slowness of first part. It's an iconic song of theirs. I think you'll really enjoy it.
A classic band a classic song Lynyrd Skynyrd is a band that has been thru the ringer from the horrific plane crash to no founding members still being around anymore yet songs like Sweet Home Alabama Free Bird & Gimme back my Bullets will always stand the test of time i was a little kid when i first found out about them been a fan ever since. Oh u should check out TRIVIUM Mia theyre like Metallica only way harder Down From The Sky is my favorite song by them youll love the drums in that song its a heavy one. You look amazing as u always do if i was ur man id take u to any rock concert youd want to go to girl keep on rocking my dear ur a total bombshell Mia 🖤❤😍💘
There’s different types of Rock- This is called “Southern Rock” (Chill vibes, soulful, lots of groove & twang) Early 70’s “Classic Rock” (Softer & more generic- Zeppelin, Pink Floyd) Metallica is “Heavy Metal” (Head-banging, intense, aggression) “80’s Rock” or “Hair bands” (Energetic, upbeat, party music) Early 90’s “Grunge” Rock (Depressing, darker lyrics, slower melodies) Late 90’s early 2000’s “Nu-Metal” Rock (Hip-Hop rhythms, screaming, distortion)
Skynard is about as southern as “southern rock” can get. Pretty much every song is a banger. For another side of rock/metal that is fairly recent is a band called Unleash the Archers. React to their full band play through of “Awakening”. It’s fast and fantastic . I believe you will love it. 🔥🤘🏻🇨🇱😎
Lynard Skynyrd is one of the best known bands associated with southern rock. 'Sweet Home Alabama' while not being the official anthem of the state of Alabama, it is the state's slogan. The Neil Young reference in the song was in response to a song that Neil Young had written called 'Southern Man', which was construed by the band as Young holding the American South responsible for slavery. Also recommended: Freebird by LS.
You didn't mis-pronounce the name, it's correct. Good job. Classic rock arrives at the channel! This is called southern rock as well. Another big song of Lynyrd Skynyrd would be "Free Bird;" there is a YT video of a live performance at the Oakland Coliseum. If you like the solo in this, imagine 3 guitars playing full-bore at the same time; the energy is amazing. The song starts slow, but speeds up and builds into a total frenzy toward the end. It might be cool to do more reactions sans video as well, since you brought it up, so you can focus on the lyrics. Since you like jazz, I would recommend you check out Chicago (their earlier stuff), Blood, Sweat and Tears, and Santana. Both Chicago and BS&T were called "jazz-rock:" Chicago callled themselves "a rock band with horns;" BS&T leaned more to the jazz side of things. Santana's music was called "Latin-rock," but some of their music had jazz elements in it. You are on a new journey, and the more you expose yourself to the more your horizons can expand. Chicago and BS&T were my bridge to jazz music. Santana was my bridge to Latin music. Groups like Emerson, Lake & Palmer and Yes were my bridge to classical music. Today I listen to almost anything, though rap, metal, and opera are notable exceptions; but even there I have a Metallica blu-ray and an opera blu-ray, along with a couple of oratorios on CD.
A couple of tracks i think you'd enjoy are michael Mcdonald I keep forgettin', the doobie brothers what a fool believes, and Santana featuring Rob Thomas the track is smooth. That track was like the anthem for 1999.
You have to watch Stevie Ray Vaughan and it has to be seen not just heard, he is one of the greatest guitarists of all time. He has a fair amount of videos you can pick any one of them ladies choice.
They considered themselves "Southern rock ". Yes they were a band that the lead singer and a few other members died in a plane crash when they were going to a new town to do a concert. A, of the original members are now dead. You need to watch the video for "Free bird . One of the greatest guitar solos in history!!!!😮😮
The band actually consists of 10 + members. Some of which died in a plane crash in 1977. The rest of the band continued to play for later years. I consider them southern rock. Still rock tho. "Free bird" is the song that gets shouted at every concert from the 70s till now because the guitar solo is so amazing and the lyrics are just beautiful. It defined an entire generation like others are saying. And It did. Myslef included. The song always get shouted at shows cuz alot of people covered it as like a right of passage. Like paying homage to a great, beautiful and complicated song. If you couldn't perform the guitar solo on this song. It begged the question. Did you ever really rock to begin with? It's also used as an encore to their shows, and they would have to play it multiple times. It was so popular it was getting shouted out at other bands' concerts. Making them have to learn it and play or get annoyed by all the ridicule. Some bands had to formally announce it that they would not be performing it. And to beg the crowd to stop shouting "Free Biiirrrdd!!!" 😂
Great song by a great band. You pronounced the band name correctly. Also, you should definitely do Free Bird. The song is amazing. This song (Sweet Home Alabama) and Free Bird are on my every road trip play list.
I am new to your channel. I would like to suggest Carlos Santana. A few top picks are Black Magic Woman/Gypsy Queen, Smooth, Evil Ways, Oye Como Va. By the way, NOT the Devil's music 😉😉
Welcome aboard. You may want to check out Led Zeppelin Immigrant Song live . They have different genres of music. This is in 3 movies that I can think of off the top of my head. Shrek The Third, Thor Ragnorok, and School of Rock. Nice reaction
I just subscribed mi amor. This is a nice band to react to, next up needs to be freebird( do the live video from oakland and don't worry about copyright issues as no one else has had a problem yet) then go for simple man and the gimme three steps. One thing this band was known for is a three guitar lineup, which was fun.
This would be categorized as Southern Rock. It influenced modern Country music. Ironically, the lead singer is not from Alabama. I'm not from Alabama either, I'm from Minnesota. Let's get some Prince. By the way, great reaction.
I just know the song because it's been in movies too. Lyrics on screen. FANCY. Mia giving a shout out to a man. Rizzers in comments just died inside. 😂
If you like this you need to listen to gimme three steps, Saturday night special, simple man, that smell, what’s your name, free bird, call me the breeze, and Tuesdays gone. Baby girl you have so much more to dive into, check out some LED Zeppelin next.
This song always reminds me of that iconic line from the Movie Con-Air. "Define Irony; Bunch of idiots dancing on a plane to a song made famous by a band that died in a plane crash".
Lynyrd Skynyrd - Freebird - 7/2/1977 - Oakland Coliseum Stadium (Official)
I was there (& 12 other DOTGs).
Southern Rock at its finest, nice reaction!

Lynyrd Skynyrd is considered Southern Rock. They are one of the best examples of that genre.
Ohhhhhhh the memories, cruzin in my friends BAHA , stereo cranked, drinkin beer and getting so soo soooo high!

Saw Skynyrd earlier this year and the still put on a hell of a show. Simple Man should be a next from them.

In 2008, Kid Rock utilised this intro for his hit "All Summer Long".
The another half was "Werewolves Of London" by Warren Zevon.
The Favorite song of them was for my brother "Give me a T for Tennessee, give me a T for Texas".

You said the name perfect, this is southern rock. Some other great songs by them are Gimmie Back My Bullets & That Smell.

Lynard Skynyrd is one of the best known bands associated with southern rock. 'Sweet Home Alabama' while not being the official anthem of the state of Alabama, it is the state's slogan. 'Sweet Home Alabama' is also the title of a movie starring Reese Witherspoon.

I still have family in Alabama… when I cross the state line, I drop this track, roll down the windows and JAM!!!
You have to watch Stevie Ray Vaughan and it has to be seen not just heard, he is one of the greatest guitarists of all time. He has a fair amount of videos you can pick any one of them ladies choice.

My dear young lady Mia, you should have reacted to the Lynyrd Skynyrd's 1977, Oakland Coliseum Stadium Concert version of Freebird.
Great song by a great band. You pronounced the band name correctly. Also, you should definitely do Free Bird. The song is amazing. This song (Sweet Home Alabama) and Free Bird are on my every road trip play list.

If Elvis was alive today...He would still rule the world 🌎❤❤️🔥🎤🎶🎼🕺
Muscle Shoals Alabama was where Fame recording studio was. There is a great documentary about the music that came out out there. Find it watch it
This would be categorized as Southern Rock.
The thirst from the dudes in her comments is real! I don't know how you'd deal with all that, but I guess that's #hotgirllife lol.
Saw them 4 times all in the 90s except 2003.
Ass-kickin' southern rock!!!
This song is featured in one of my favorite movies, "Joe Dirt" 😂
grew up listening to this band, but i like the Shinedown version of Simple Man. You should give that one a once over.
Yeah, you *must* react to "Freebird" by Lynyrd Skynyrd ASAP. It'll blow you mind.
