  • Martin Luther King was assassinated 50 years ago. This is the powerful, prophetic speech he made to a packed church in Memphis, Tennessee, on 3 April 1968, just a day before he was assassinated. King called for unity, economic actions, boycotts and non-violent protests, while challenging the US to live up to its ideals. In the speech, he talks about the possibility of an untimely death

This was such a wonderful creative time in his life.
By 1968, 'we as a people' meant all Americans, black and white, here he was challenging the very essence of American society itself, specifically the Vietnam War and economic inequality.
And it was because of this creativity that he was killed.

You can see him resolve himself in the middle of a speech to untold thousands to provide meaning to his last words and the movement he championed. He knows he’s a dead man likely, but he conquered it and didn’t let his fear destroy his life’s work.

Mic drop at the end! Zero fear and power in his voice. I love seeing the kingdom in the flesh.
