  • In this Arizona road trip we head up to Northern Arizona and explore the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. On the way up Highway 89, we stop by some top Arizona destinations. On the way to Page Arizona on the border with Utah we stop at the Horseshoe Bend lookout and hike down to get a great view. We then go across the Glen Canyon Dam at Lake Powell to the Vermilion Cliffs which are an incredible site to see. After calling it a night and camping on the North Rim we head over to Kaibab National Park. We camped at Demotte Campground on the Kaibab Plateau. We woke up and headed down to the Grand Canyon Lodge at the North Rim. When on the North Rim of the Grand Canyon you can take a hike on the Bright Angel Trail.
The lodge itself is really remarkable as it is made of real rock and wood overlooking the canyon on the cliff. They do have cabins there that you can rent and they are quite spacious actually. They also have smaller cabins that you can enjoy.

Living in Arizona is quite a unique experience because of the vastness that the state offers. From the Sonoran Desert in the south to the high country in the north all the way up towards the Four Corners east and the Grand Canyon in the west. Known as the Grand Canyon state, Arizona is diverse in many ways. The state tree is the Palo Verde, the state cactus is the Saguaro, the state bird is the Cactus wren. We have hiked the Grand Canyon twice. First we did the South rim, a few years later we did the North rim. I think I like the North rim the best. More secluded, less people, more wildlife. I'd Love to hike it again! I think the Grand Canyon is the most Beautiful place on earth! Thanks for your Great videos!

Water is partly cold because of the mountain snow melt, but it is really cold because it comes out of the lower part of Glen Canyon Dam. You can take a half day float trip from the bottom of the dam and get out at Lee's Ferry and they bus you back. To get to the river below the dam, you are bused through a 2 mile tunnel that was originally built to get heavy equipment down during construction.

Great video, but for future reference, the reason the Colorado River is so cold at Lee’s Ferry is the Glen Canyon Dam. The water for the power plant comes from the bottom of the lake. Before the dam was built, the Colorado was quite a warm river.

You went ALL the way up to the N. Rim and the Kaibab, you shoulda kept heading N. after Jacobs Lake to a super small (where i'm from), FREDONIA, Az - AZ News Weather Channels barely even, (if not all - ) See us as a Northern Az. town. we are 7 miles from the UT border (matter of fact), I live on the Kaibab Paiute Res. but work in Kanab, UT - which is common where we are from. We only see or "get noticed" when it's Politician Season. eh. But, Fredonia is left forgotten by many since our loging company was shut down due to the Spotted Owl.
*** So just for giggles, one day you should come ALLL the way to the Northern hemisphere. Also, about 2.5 hrs away is another very small town in AZ called Littlefield. it is bordered by UTAH and NEVADA. :) keep ur trips comin' - I love my State but never been to half of the towns in the State, I live through watching your channel.
