    Completely enjoyed this mini series. 👏
    The sticker with the equipment you were using was also very helpful. 👍
    And the taste-testing segment was fun. ✨
    Keep up the amazing content, and best wishes always. 🎈

    I’m intimately familiar with that area and I DO NOT harvest those farm goats while hunting. Those farm goats escaped from an adjacent ranch due to a compromise in the boundary fence. The fence was damaged due to a storm event. That area used to be super thick, impenetrable, and practically unhuntable. Thanks to those farm goats, they have opened up the area making it accessible to hunt other game species. Additionally, it would be awesome if those farm goats crossed the dirt access road and interbred with the wild mountain goats that are up slope higher up on the mountain. That would make for some offspring with some nice colors. The hybridization would also improve meat quality of the wild mountain goats. 🐐 🤙🏼

    I had no idea there were parts of Hawaii that look so much like Eastern WA. You think of it as all lush tropical and palm trees...not evergreens and rocky draws and stuff.

    I almost hit a HUGE axis deer buck (4x3) in Maui recently on the way to see the sunrise at Haleakala national park. It was scary turning the corner and “bam” in the middle of the street.

    Shooting any game is easy but the process n getting out is always a toll. Especially if you hunt public lands and work your butt off. That's why you not an immediate family or friends...sorry cant share. Food look delicious n I would eat anything I kill or dont hunt at all. 👍

    How come your buddy that lives in hawaii gets first shots. When you're from washington. Shouldnt you be the one getting the first shots. Just kinda weird for me. If i had a buddy that traveled far to hunt with me I'd let him take all the first shots.

    • @808Cummins
      @808Cummins Місяць тому +9

      When you pay for a guide or a hunt...u get the first or the next 5 shots. When u come as a guest on my hunt and you stay in my house without paying I'll take the shots that gets meat in my freezer and I'll share what I caught with you no questions asked. That is how we do it in Hawaii 🤙🤙🤙

    • @chaleys8089

      As what I was thinking but I think both of them from the mainland, so who ever sees the game first gets to shoot or pass the shot of.🤙

    • @praydriven8409
      @praydriven8409 Місяць тому +5

      @@808Cummins that's what I meant they're guest they paid the flight to get there to hunt animals that they don't have in their place while you live there and you can get to shoot it when season opens again. It's just generosity and basically doing a free guided hunt for a special guest. Freezers going to get filled anyways.

      No thought went into it, it just worked out that way switching off. Usually do spot it get the opportunity but after the first one we just switched on and off for who carried the gun. Remember we both shot two goats the day before and Samong shot the last one so it was my turn carrying the rifle🤷‍♂️

      They are designed for further shots and they don't "expand" like a hollow point they just petal out.

    We locals would love to hunt goats. But the Californians are trying to present laws where we can't and they won't let us smoke the meat without calling the police. Please boycott West coast Karen's from moving to Hawaii. We want them to move back so we can live off of the Aina and not her supermarkets. 🤙🤙🤙

    The difference in taste will always be in your head, initially. You will taste the difference in a (billy) goat that lacks fresh water to drink. They will drink their own urine and definitely have a gamey taste. You got lucky with that big billy!

    Did the deer seem tough? Looked like you chewed a bit on the deer, then you said the goat was chewy. Flavor was gamey on the goat. Try soaking the meat in milk first, might remove that. Napoleon Dynamite, awesome Idaho movie!

    • @jacob__villasenor
      @jacob__villasenor Місяць тому

      Goat wasn’t gamey, had the same flavor as the deer. Both animals have been a bit chewier than I’m used to. But it could be how fast we were to process them cause of the heat.

    I heard axis tastes way better than whitetail or blacktails. Maybe that's just the Texas kind though?

    • @tolt1776
      @tolt1776 Місяць тому

      100% it's better than elk in alot of ways. I haven't had nilgai but that's what axis looks like. It's incredible.

    • @jacob__villasenor
      @jacob__villasenor Місяць тому

      I have had that buck side by sides with my whitetail from last year that I hung for 5 days whole and the whitetail is much more tender and flavorful. I think having the chance to hang and age an animal does a ton to its flavor.
      The other night we ate whitetail flat iron vs axis tenderloins and the whitetail was noticeably more tender and flavorful. Just my wife and my opinion but I was surprised!

    • @jacob__villasenor

      I would say it was like 85-90% of a lowland whitetail. Not much can match a mature mountain Muley. I’ve cut up deer in the north cascades that are like small elk. But axis were definitely bigger than I was expecting from what I heard.
