Just got my first gimbal; super stoked. You can actually use the Weebill S in Inverted mode like other gimbals and the Pan Follow still works fine. You have to switch to Pov mode, then turn it upside down to the left(the side without the motor), then switch to PF(or any other mode you'd like to use). Switch back to Pov mode to turn it right side up without freaking out the motors(turn it to the left again).
Nice and detailed review I have used the crane 2 though I don't own one and i love the experience. Seems you won't be needing your crane 2 and lab gimbal again. You can send it over to me . Would appreciate thanks.💪🏼

What shot from the intro is your favorite? Posting frame rates bellow 👇 Thanks for the Likes and support guys it means the world ✌🌎😁
Thank you so much for your review! There are so many gimbals out there, it's hard to know who to listen to. Your footage speaks for itself and your review comes from experience and is genuine. Thanks again! Keep up the great work!
I am confused about the whole 6 months thing. It wasn’t released until mid October. I had a pre production version about two weeks before that. So basically 3 months!
Wow Mr Bloom it’s a pleasure! Thanks for stopping by 😊 I got the very first Beta version in August mainly for testing and to give feedback / Opinions on performance etc (granted, it wasn’t great at the time, mainly the motors had too much power. Obviously the final version is much more stable and leaps ahead). Just for clarification. Thanks for all the inspo over the years mate 👍🏻
Great review! I have been looking at these to maybe replace my Ronin S. I used to use Zhiyun and i feel like they work better FOR ME than the DJI Ronin s. Will have to try this one now.
Drew Kocak I made a colour grading video a while back that should help 😊 My grading has got better recently, I will make some more videos about it for you 👊🏻
Thanks for doing this review six months in. I get much more out of these long term reviews than when someone does a review on the very first use of the product. This really does seem to be the gimbal for me. Thanks for sharing,
glad it worked for you. running same camera and lens, and its super jerky on PF. tried playing with deadband, etc. the feel is crap compared to my Crane 2.
Sick with it James! Killing it seriously! I’m still at the bar learning how to carry 4 pints of beer to my pals without dropping them..getting gimbal training b4 I get the right gimbal but the OG Weebill lab is what I have my eye on. Thx for you badass videos keep up the real motivation compa
Bosh! Finally pulled the plug after perving over gimbals for years. Got this around mid-Dec, follow-focus, transmission, the works. Just finally getting round to playing with it between client shoots. You say it's the best one you've used, I say, Imma have to do some learnin' and practicin' mate. Even with the 28-70 kit I'm all over the place. God knows where I'm gonna be at with my 50 1.8 or the Viltrox 85 1.8 on it. Back 2 skool mefinks. Banging vid as always tho brother. Peace.
I wanted to do a review about that on my new UA-cam Channel as well but you already explained everything so well! Thanks for that James! This one is really a good option 👍🏻🙂
I have a Ronin S which is big & bulky + the axis arms don't lock down so it's constantly flying all over the place when transporting..... seriously considering selling it & buying this.
Just a heads up: Zhiyun is pronounded 'jee Yuun' in Shanghai accent, and 'Jirr Yun' in Beijing accent. You can pick your preference. I'm partial to the pirate Beijing accent. P.S. Amazing dreamy footage.
I upgraded to the S from the lab, and I've seen reviews from other YTers that helped me with that decision. But some reviews on B&H's site about the fragility of the axes locks were all too true for me. Had to replace mine a few days ago after the tilt motor lock gave out on me. I would just be weary of that, especially if it's on the side of your bag and any pressure is exerted on it. Other than that, it's been SPOT ON.
Same things happened to mine mate with one of the axis locks no longer working. I've not sent mine off yet but did the whole process for a repair/new unit take long?
@@colinphotovideo didn't even attempt repair since I bought it less than a month ago, I just swapped it at B&H. For reference, my older Crane V2 took a few weeks to go back to China for repair of the roll motor. But this was a few years ago (I have a video about it on my channel)
Top review mate. Good honest review. My Weebill S arrives tomorrow. Already got the Ronin S and the hold function doesn't work and the footage is wobbly AF. After that, drama I chose not to buy the DJI RS2. Fingers crossed for Weebill S!
i'd love to see a video called ZHIYUN WEEBILL S // 18 MONTHS LATER. I am looking into buying a small compact gimbal that carries heavy weight and now the ronin rsc2 is a very similar gimbal but with a newer release date, so it means better tech.
Great video! I love that you don't over romanticize gear so I really trust your reviews and honest opinion. I'm about to get a sigma 18-35 to adapt to my Fuji and I think I might need to upgrade from my weebill lab to this
I've got one and I love it so far. Previously had zhiyun crane (the first one) and this is so much better! As for negatives I think the plastic handle feels too....plasticy? Too fragile in my opinion. I think the built quality around that area could be improved. Cheers!
Ahh, you know I've been waiting for this! What better than a 6 month review, and especially after all that banging work you put into it in your last film, I'm sure you know this gimbal like the back of your hand! I use the Ronin-S and I swear by it, but damn this thing is tempting to add to basket! Thanks for the review, you have yourself a great evening J 🔥
@@Jamesmatthews It is aweome, I love the recent update where you can use your Xbox/PS4 controller to control 3 axis at the same time! That's the deal though, it's too big and heavy for travelling, might have to pick one up at NAB!
Hi James, always fun to watch your stuff. Thank you! You asked for problems: I do have one problem with my Weebill S: when I hold the main handle at about 45 degrees, do a panning motion, holding down the Follow button to change the tile of the camera, as soon as I let go of the follow button, the gimbal jerks to a new position. Very annoying. I hope Zhiyun will notice and fix in future firmware. Second problem: the pan speed that I get with the main handle vertical is different (faster) than the pan speed I get when the main handle is at 45 degrees (which I find to be a more comfortable angle to film at). Also annoying. But agree that if they can fix these issues, this is THE gimbal!
I think I'm going to have to try to update it because mine seems to lose balance after the autotune. Thanks for reviewing. This review had actually made me decide on the Weebill instead of Ronin. If only I can get over the learning curve.
I've been using the Ronin-S for about a year now and I didn't jump to the SC because it didn't seem THAT much smaller and lighter and worth selling the big gimbal, which granted 90% of the time I'm using on a Sony a6500, but I have used with bulkier gear. This is making me consider getting the weebil-s as a travel gimbal and keeping the Ronin-S for bigger work.
Just ordered mine on Amazon and can not wait to get it for my XT3! I've given up on using a glidecam and maybe I'm just lazy but I just am not feeling the glidecam set up. I'm stoked to see where this can take my video shooting.
I'm exactly with you man. Love your content! Would love to see a vid on your custom settings to get the smoothest possible movement. The factory settings aren’t bad but I feel like they could be improved upon
I like the gimbal but it is not a tripod for all cases for me. It's hard to explain on the Weebill S but for me, there are issues with it in regards to fast orbits and doing simple walks with it turn into a horizontal nightmare where the horizon starts tilting on it's own. Until Zhiyun comes out with a good firmware to fix all of the problems I'm going back to my DJI Ronin S. This is the second time I've bought a Zhiyun gimbal and had issues.
Same here, got both this and the Ronin S for a month to test and keep one, the weebill keep freaking out even after two updates, they never fixed it, returned it and kept my new Ronin S, but the weebill was easier to setup tho.
Same as well. The roll was very jittery you can't shoot 24 or even 30fps on it without getting micro stutters in your footage. I just bought the ronin s as well hopefully its better
