- From the Atomic TV archives comes these classic animated commercials touting Baltimore's favorite cheap beverage! Keep an eye out for the "Natty Fro" commercial at the end.
My dogs name is Natty Boh! Love Baltimore! I go to the hon fest every year!
Truly a Baltimore tradition.

Many of the spots were done by Jay Ward Studios (Rocky and Bullwinkle). Daws Butler was the original voice of the Capn and continued in the role until his death in 1988. Other characters in the original ads were voiced by Ward Studio veterans June Foray, Bill Scott, and Paul Frees.
As a kid I can BARELY remember this commercial. I loved it then and I love it now.
"laid great store by easy living
it still prevails today."
Techncially Gamma Productions was a Mexican studio, but I'm sure it was done in-house at Jay Ward's own studio in Hollywood anyway.
Mel Blanc can be heard in the last one, Hell, he was everywhere back then!
The next to last one featured Daws Butler. One of the characters sounded exactly like Mr. Jinx from the Pixie and Dixie cartoons from Hanna-Barbera. Butler voiced most of their characters prior to the Flintstones.
Pretty sure the Trubadore voice is Tom Marr
"Got a lot of songs to sing and dreams to dream--about settlers and other things--folks who first brewed on the Shore and a bit about the beer from Baltimore. National Beer National Bear you'll like the taste of National Beer." "The best of the Old World is in our brew; that's why it tastes as good as it do . . . National Beer National Beer you'll like . . . ." "Even if you're are Aquarius, maybe even Sagitarius, you'll find yourself more gregarious serving National Beer . . . National Beer."
hello
You got me on that one . Of course you've been around longer than me !!!!! PBR Man here
HAHA I had one of these a couple years ago when I went to Maryland. Not a bad beer.
Man those are too fucking cool. When I lived in Mobtown there was a bar round' the corner that had iced cold Natty Boh for 50 cents a glass. I have a bunch of old Stag beer commercials with Mr. Magoo, gonna have to get em uploaded.
An excellent point, to be sure. Oh boy, what a beer!
If it was still around you would see National Boh ads all over Camden Yards in Both Oriole Park and M&T Bank Stadium
The voices in the next-to-last one are definitely done by Daws Butler, who did most of the Hanna-Barbera cartoons.

Paul Frees is Lord Baltimore and Candy Candido is the pelican in the first one. Candy repeated his role in the last one as well, with Mel Blanc as the blue bird.
They made two Natty Bo commercials at my dads bar in Baltimore…….
What bar was that? My dad was in a Natty Boh commercial in the 60's-70's.
Drinking this right now what a shame thay put a beautiful beer like this on the same shelf they put lucky streak on 2022 still strong
Paul Frees is heard in the first 2 commercials; near the 3 minute mark Daws Butler is heard in the third commercial (using his Cap'n Crunch voice and Mr. Jinx voice); I have no idea the voices heard in the last commercial (except for Mel Blanc, his voice I immediately recognized).
Candy Candido is the pelican in two of them. He and Paul Frees are well-known for doing voices for Disney.
I've always siad a REAL ravens fan drinks Natty Boh a real Eagles fan drinks Yuengling, a real patriots fan drinks Sam Adams, a real Broncos fan drinks Coors a real Rams fan drinks Budweiser a real Packers fan drinks Miller and so on and so on
I finally had my first Natty Boh a few years ago at Bull on the Beach on Ocean City's boardwalk. Great beer!
And I like how smooth flowing the horse's leg movements are in the first few seconds...
CHEAP BEVERAGE!? IT's Natty Boh!

"Lay great store by easy living that still prevails today . . ." Bring in Chuck Thompson and the O's! Those were the times when the National Beer-owned O's had the best winning percentage in baseball. In what year did the "In 1634 the royal nominee Lord Baltimore with fish and hominy" run? PLEASE till me!
thumbs up to you my friend, i live in towson and drink boh on the reg!
Represent!
love it!!
Baltimore city's Beer.
anyone know where I can find the ads with the singing clams (and crabs and other sea creatures)? They were in color, so maybe from the late 60's early 70's. Same song as heard in many other ads from that time period. Also remembering ads showing boats out on the bay, then camera would zoom in and people held up their Natty Boh. Would love to see these again.

They was produced at Ward's Hollywood facilities, because Gamma never produced THAT kind of "decent" animation...
What, did Maryland not have a drinking age back then?
I think the line may be "Late great store-bought easy livin'..."
I think the second blank is "friends"
i.e " but friends, they're only side dishes..."
Does anyone know the lyrics to the first clip?
I can't figure out the blanks:
In 1670 the royal nominee Lord Baltimore would fish in harmony, late great _____ by easy livin', it still prevails today.
There's chincoteague oysters and crabs and clams, and there's fried chicken and virginia ham, but _______ they're only side dishes, and served with National Beer!"
Snappy fuckin' jingle!
"store" and "friends", respectively.
The tune was written by Henry Russell who sings it in the first commercial
where's part 2?
Bohs and O's
