@spook imagine being so stupid that you don’t know why being emo is significant today.. a lot of the emo culture started because people with mental health weren’t getting seen and so the way they knew to express their emotions was through music “emotional music” shorter it would be known as “emo music” also this isn’t the only alt style, Punk was started from people like the beetles one of the best bands known ever to exist and ofc others, the punk came after the hippie then the punk movement led to the first goths in the late 70s and early 80s after all this different genres of Goth existed and after that made emo music, metal music, nirvana and other bands like Metallica and slipknot came around.. all of the alternatives including emo was present and panic at the disco, sleeping with sirens, my chemical romance, and etc, please don’t judge if you don’t know what your laughing at

Thank Goodness when I became all heavy metal with long hair, leather, chains, spikes, Judas Priest shirts etc and choosing to spend more time with my guitars than with people, I was already over 6ft tall and hitting the weights. So nobody dared to mess with me. People who didn't understand it (including certain members of my own family) have tried everything to shame me for it but I never listened to any one of them and stayed true to myself, even if it left me friendless. The most ironic thing is that when I went to university, people actually liked me for being authentic and genuine.

I am 24 years old and known as the "Hot Topic Emo Kid" at my university but I'm a happy outgoing person who listens to Elton John and BTS and likes superheroes, Disney, and Barbie dolls. Just because someone likes a certain aesthetic or style doesn't mean you should make assumptions. Not all emos and goths are witches, not all girls who wear designer clothes are spoiled and "ratchet," not all furries are cringe and act like animals in public (I'm also a furry and I act like a regular old human lol), not all people who like anime are "weeaboos," not all nerds and metalheads are heartless jerks, etc.
Emo is a music based subculture where you listen to bands like taking back Sunday, Jimmy eat world, Hawthorne heights, the used, saosin, mayday parade, from first to last, and more. Ppl like Elton John and BTS aren’t Emo so you’re not Emo unless you actually listen to the music (not hateful)

That actually happened to me on 2022 November I dress punk emo and Gothic and somebody came up to the therapist at the school and tell them I want to hurt myself. They call my parents and the next day they call me into her classroom and talk things out, that was obviously a lot for me, so yeah, this kinds of things can happen
The question you should ask yourself is *Why dress in a way that you know* *brings negative attention* ? What exactly were you seeking?
When you do *DUMB* then you have to accept the *Consequences* of your *Choices* .
You have to hold yourself accountable for the decisions you make in life. That's how it works.

I was picked on during my emo phase in Highschool. Not full on bullying like this, but jerks following me around and being annoying on purpose and trying to turn me off my favourite singer and saying my best friend was a bad person, yikes
So if you didn't want to be followed and annoyed looking like Jack Skeleton then all you had to do was dress like a *Normal Person* and play *Dress Up* after school and on weekends. *It's an easy fix* .

As someone who is part of the goth community, a lot of times, people associate goth with being EMO and it gets on my nerves because EMO is basically 2000s alt and goth is more dark and spikes and things like that and I appreciate a lot of people who listen and try their best to make sure they get it right especially since ever since goth and emo have become styles they has been switched around many times mostly because they are both alt styles
Because of a way draw, dress up, and act,I get called emo, all bc of my art and shopping at hot topic and only talk to really my friends. I'm just glad I have a girlfriend to help me get through my toxic school years. I love Mallory I can't relate more w/ her. ☺

Spending Nearly 10 years in group homes, 8 of those in California, I had to deal with being a target of bullying. Especially in those homes. When it feels like no one is there for you, Not true.
