When he saw you were having a bad day, he'd joke around to lift your spirits. Unfortunately, he passed away in a car accident sometime after graduation. RIP Shaun

As an gothic teen i relate very much, i got bullied for a while and i couldn't stand it so i told to my family and the principal and thank god that the principal and teachers are so sweet and that stuff so i don't get bullied anymore bc they all know if they say something i will just tell the teachers and then they take care of it. Even if Ruby wasn't a good student and was into drugs, it wouldn't have justified the mother's treatment of her. The stepmother is a bad mother for being so abusive, and the father is a bad father for not standing up for his daughter from the very beginning. He should have kicked the stepmother out early on, or left with his daughter. He definitely chose the stepmother over his own daughter, and that would be emotionally devastating for the daughter, regardless of the end outcome shown here. A woman as toxic as the stepmother does not change, at least nowhere near that quickly, and someone like that typically doesn't give a damn if they turned out to be wrong.

The valedictorian for the class of 1996 was “goth”. She even skipped a grade in elementary school. She was one of the smartest and sweetest girls I knew. She even attended church. Some like to wear pink flowers others prefer to wear black and chokers. Character is what’s important not clothing.

Ruby looks so like my friend Eloise. Eloise is the toughest fighter on earth, dealing with family issues while getting the right A levels in order to go to uni. While battling cancer at the same time. I haven't seen Eloise in so long but I see her in Ruby and that's a great feeling.
I mean... She's not goth, but this is a great message. Personally, I'm a punk/emo/metalhead and people always say I'm weird. It's annoying. I feel like people in the alternative community are unfairly judged. I feel as if they are the nicest people I've met.

my best friend is goth, and she's the sweetest person ever. She's constantly gagged at and people laugh in her faces, but that doesn't stop her from dressing that way. shes incredibly, smart, kind, and always steps out of her way to help people, this story makes me super happy :)
Why wouldn't she stop dressing that way. I dressed like a total nerd too. I got bullied for it. Then I started dressing cooler. The bullying didn't go away completely, but it diminished.

Bro I wore nail polish to school one day because my friend who’s a girl was having a bad day the day before, I walk into class and these two douchebags are sitting there laughing to themselves like they think I’m blind and deaf. I tell them they’re being pricks and they call me goth as an insult, like bro just because I’m wearing black nail polish doesn’t make me goth, and what’s wrong with being goth. Some of my best friends are goth.

My best friend is a Goth and I adore her so damn much. She is one of my favorite people. So it really upsets me when people misjudge people who like the gothic style. Like just because they "look shady/scary" doesn't mean that they actually are. Some Goths are actually the nicest people you'll meet.
