Nowadays Banpresto’s have become cheap too (especially the ones released before 2022), so I’d definitely recommend people to buy the original ones. Even if you can’t buy scale figures, you can always go with the prize figures (even I buy the prize figures only) and some of them’s detailings are almost on par with scale figures. Trust me, you’ll find more satisfaction on seeing an original one rather than a fake one.
Yeah prize figs are the way for lower budget anime figure collectors, a lot of bootlegs either looks horrible, or have parts that break or bend easily.
Popup Parade also has pretty good figures for a low price. Good smile company also does a really good job of advertising upcoming figures and what they have available for preorders or restock.
fair enough but in some countries, like mine banpresto figures arent really available meaning youll have to order them for japan and it ultimately gets expensive. id just reccomend getting high end fakes since those are of good quality and are painted quite decently these days.

I think a better experiment would be to get ahold of fake ones that make an effort into passing for a real one (as in they come in a box and look similar) and compare them to the real figure
The figurines I like and used to buy are all over $400, the "fake" ones I found are $68 to $80 and look the same. Bruh, I'm good with my several hundred dollar cheaper knock offs.
With the high end fakes they're much better but the low end ones are ass
You can get them high quality/authentic at anime conventions as well for a good price. I bought one last time. It went for like $40 and she's perfect.
Sure, but they really are not the same at all. Making quality figurines is all about great craftsmanship.

Honestly there are some that look 80-90% like their original/official counterparts with boxes(most don't have the brands or license on them but I've heard of some that do lie about being official, have the brands n everything but actually aren't, never seen them tho), you just have to know where to find them but yea don't support pirating culture if possible

Fake anime figurines, or fake figurines in general, are usually bought for display, so collectors can keep the original one in the original box, yknow, to keep it clean and mint.

My suggestion for people that want to collect figurine but is on a budget is to buy Banpresto brand figurine, their quality varies but is still far from fake quality, some banpresto line feel like a premium figurine.
I was going to say that there is no such thing as a fake anime figurine, but the three straight up not existing would certainly count as "fake" by anyone's standards.
I also like how Minato is holding the kunai basically palming the entire blade of it lol
buying fake figures is great if you want to practice painting or repainting figures. the sculpts arnt bad, most of the time they are just the factory defects so they only look slightly off or weird. a easy repaint fixes all of it
There was a store in the mall I was in that had a small section of anime stuff. Some merchandise were legit but the figure packages looked sus. From far away it looked like the real box but closer you can see the pixel distortion of the image on the box. Picking up the box the figure was not securely packaged in the box and you can rattle it around. I discreetly opened the box and the figure was just in a clear plastic bag where a real one would be held in place by cardboard to reduce damage in shipping.

Some bootleg anime figures are actually insane!! But they are really hit or miss… feels much better to spend 80-100$ on something that looks orgasmic than something thats 10-14$ and looks sub par or downright horrendous
Unfortunately, my experience buying fake anime figures (I was kinda young at the time) they were nendos. the boxes were near identical to the real ones, and were pretty expensive. The reveal was when I went to open the box for the first time and the figure exploded into pieces before I touched it. Just disassembled like dropped Lego right in front of me.
As a collector it just hurts

That's why you have to be selective when finding a fake/off brand figurines, most of them usually have pretty similar coloring and stuff but lack in the face paint. But there are also off brand that have good face paint such as my chinese off brand of VAH Portgas D. Ace who's the original is made by Megahouse
Well, if you do manage to buy a fake one and it DOES have it legs, it'll probably ALSO not have the correct base.

Some figures despite being fake are actually good than the real one in terms of price obviously. You just have to see them in person to see if it’s worth it; but never online.
