Lake Eibsee
A crystal-clear natural wonder right at the foot of Zugspitze (Germany´s highest) mountain. The crystal-clear, deep blue, and sparkling waters of the Eibsee, a jewel in the Werdenfels region, is delightfully embedded in the rocky landscape at an altitude of 1,000 meters. 2.40 km long, 850 m wide, and up to 32.5 m deep (depending on the water level), it has eight islets dotted around its northern side.
Eibsee was created by a gigantic rockfall. With its clear, turquoise waters, it is quite rightly considered one of the most beautiful and purest lakes in the Bavarian Alps.
Eibsee is located around 13 km southwest of the center of #Garmisch-Patenkirchen, below the Zugspitze in the Wetterstein Mountains. It belongs to the municipality of Grainau and is privately owned by the Eibsee Hotel.
By water, on land, in the air, or as a swimmer - you have plenty of opportunities to enjoy the summer at Eibsee. An “Eibsee day” is a highlight of any stay in the Zugspitze region.
