''That's Switzerland'', apparently even the shape of Sweden looks like Switzerland to Americans lol
It's always the Americans that mix up Sweden and Switzerland. Probably because they both start with "Sw". But weirdly they don't mix up the United Kingdom and the United States, because they both start with "the United"
@@bananenmusli2769I mix UK and US up on purpose every time I hear a comment their my country Sweden and Switzerland is mixed up in hope of make the person in question hopefully learn to next time 😁
When I was a child I was mistaking shape of Sweden and shape of Italy, and name of Sweden with name of Switzerland. And I live halfway between Italy and Sweden.
People in East Asia also do it to the same extent.
Oh no 😢
😂
I'm European and I still had some problems with microstates, so you should be proud of yourself - 43% is not that bad, especially for American
I`m European too and i like to say 43% is EXELLENT for an American. I´m sure i wont get 100%.....and i`m not bad at geography, at last much better then in English^^
@@StonedSoldier1974 you're right, I should rephrase it: it's not that bad score even for European and it's excellent score for an American
he should have used a strategy based on the definition of the borders to deduce the size, the more jagged the bigger, Monaco also had port dams, it was obvious it was tiny, however with the silhouettes of the US states I would certainly have done worse
What's the name of the Website?
Another problem is that you have to click the one the game tells you instead of going by process of elimination.
Doing the same for US states as a European would be more difficult. A big bunch of squares 😂
Especially if they are all the same size. lol
Gathering likes for Ryan to take a similar test on recognizing the shapes of US states)
Just tried it, crazy hard
For me it's just 5 distinct groups: Teksas, Florida, Alaska, squarish\landlocked and natural shape/with coast line states😅
@@common1529 Teksas? lol Texas.
For an American a very good result! Congrats! As an European I reached 71%..
Says (s)he modestly...though I'd get similar (prob)🎩
He's not average American
I got 72% in 5:20 but I'm Australian so I only had to get 10% to be good, LOL.
@@TheZodiacz Congrats!
@@TheZodiacz I am german and want to do this too. But I don't know the name of the Website. Can anyone help me
Thank you for uploading this. You do NOT look stupid. I find it courageous that you did this test and uploaded the video. This isn't easy, even for me as a European. The sizes of the countries seem to play an important role in my "memorizing country shapes", as well. Well done. You've proven to know ALOT more about Europe than the average American. Keep up your curiosity.
2:45 *Points at Ukraine* “This could be Russia”
Oh dear🫥
Still love you and your videos
Ryan: This could be Russia.
Me: That's what Putin said.
Yes it could, if Russia would not be led by thieves and idiots
@@rainerbloedsinn182 10:06 LOL he did the same while hovering over Poland "That's Germany"
@@rainerbloedsinn182 Ryan actually said that this
talk about bad luck ^^
Most funny... "Where is Switzerland...?" And the cursor is actually on the exact right spot...
Croatia does indeed have lots of islands (over 1200+), though that wasn't shown well on the quiz 6:06
Most of them are small
It also has a very unique shape overall.
A very good result, unexpectedly surprised by Ryan. And here, no jokes about Americans' knowledge of geography; a test on recognizing the shape of countries outside of a general map and without a scale is one of the most difficult. Even Europeans, who regularly see the map of Europe in their daily lives, rarely score more than 50%.
Dunno, Ijust played a similar one where you have to type the names while the shape is shown. I got 100% of Europe in 3:46.
I think it was a bold move to call Ukraine Russia in the current situation 😂
Croatia does have a lot of islands, the outline in this quiz is just very simplified
That is a lot tougher with the scale being messed around with for sure.
that's honestly a really good result. happy to see you straight away knew the shape of my home country Latvia
Idea😉 For each country you have marked completely wrong ( the red color), you should react to a video from or about that country.
The distinctive thing about Ireland, apart from the jagged west coast, is the big lump of Northern Ireland taken out of it at the top right (as it's part of the UK), the northern tip there is part of the mainland and isn't a separate island which it kind of looks like on here.
As a Brit who has been playing Worldle every day for a year or more, I was disappointed to only get 55%...
As a Brit I had the same reaction to you when first looking at it but it's surprising how many you can figure out when you think about it. I got more than I imagined I would.
Everything looks like Australia? You’re hilarious 😂😂😂
Even as a European, I struggled. I immediately recognises the UK, Ireland, Iceland, Norway, Italy, Greece, France, Denmark. But the others made my head hurt, mainly due to scale!
Yeah, although Monaco is really easy as well. It's so small you can actually see the piers of the harbour in the country outline.
Congratulations when I saw shape of UK first thought was what the hell is this and what is it doing at EU map😅
Got 87% myself on a similar quiz that included Turkey.
Again like with you and others, the smaller one's were the hardest when they are the same size.
Dude, Do this Quiz with american states and then half of them would just be squares. That would je almost impossible to get right xD
there's actually a lot of variety with easy ones like Florida, Alaska and Hawaii. Anyway I got 85% in 5:43 so it can't be that difficult. I'm a moron 🙂
You can click the arrow on the top to skip countries, and do the easy ones first.
Okay, as a reference: I'm from Europe, I'm in my 30s and it took me 7:16 min with a score of 44%
I got 56% in 6min, but it helped by seeing the video before. The small and eastern countries are not so familiar to me.
I got 100% in 2:06 Minutes(I just like geographie)
lol I got 100% in 1.48 minutes
@@Das-ist-k-ein-VIRUSWhat's the name of the Website?
@@inotoni6148 There are many websites where you can play these quizzes this is from geoguessr but you can also play on websites like sporcle or jetpunk
"Croatia... that's the UK, OMG.. crisis averted, let's be smart here" got me laughing 🤣
You 🤘Ryan
Hei, i am european and i got 41% :D The scaling really makes it hard.
Which site did you do it on? Which one is he doing on?
@@lyt48 i just googled "European outline country quiz" and this same one popped up.
This is very easy, and I'm American.
To be fair, starting you off with North Macedonia was tough xD
you got Poland, bardzo dobrze
To be very fair, as geography "nerd" from Latvia, having all countries same size (not up to scale) definitely makes task more tricky as one is just used to certain (relative to rest) size of shape not shape itself only.
This was impressive Ryan. Definitely for someone who is not from Europe. I feel like not even Europeans would do this easily.
That was fun! You got the important one right, mine😂😂😂
This is freaking HARD!!! As you said, the scaling makes it additionally difficult. I am not THAT bad generally in geography, but even with a lot of thinking and not so much klicking around as you i only made 46% in more than 11 minutes. 🤣 So you were quite lucky and not really bad at all!
No, he performed poorly. This quiz is very easy.
I'd love to watch you play more stuff like this
This was actually pretty hard as an european too, so many similarly shaped blobs and places like Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, San Marino etc. one only knows their position as a dot :D. Ran the quiz before watching the video and got 61% in 6:41... So you don't have to feel too ashamed, some guesses were a bit funny like guessing ireland several times ;D but it was easier than I thought to get flustered on this one.. :D
It looks very difficult to me (native Finn) - but I'll do it with you! ... I knew about as many that you did, and guessed maybe a few more, but had no clue on many more than you! You did very well!
u did really well!
this is a veryy special puzzle😂. but it fits also only in one order
Nicely done, now that's a true geography nerd quizz ahah. I'm glad I got most right (I missed like 3), but it's only because I know Europe more than other continents, in other continents I would have been like you (which isn't so bad !).
That last part where it was the last one you chose was way too funny!! 😂😂😂
Ha, this will be fun to watch!
Funny Thing about States like Monaco and Vatican is that they are so small ur able to see Buildings or Ports
You did well! Did the quiz with you :)
I’m English and I took the time to learn all the European countries and capitals, but when you separate them out like that… I’d be amazed if I could get 8 or 9😮😮. Apart from the obvious ones, the only ones I would be able to pick would be from learning cues like Croatia looks like a capital C.
I also learnt the US states and capitals and I think I’d probably score higher on that if you separated them out
As a Canadian who knows them by heart by now, I just wanna say : Don't worry. It's always a rough start, learning a new geographical region. After staring at maps for long enough and doing these quizzes again and again, it just becomes second nature at some point. But I wouldn't expect anyone who hasn't gone through the training I went through to be as proficient as I am. Even Europeans often struggle. Struggling with Eastern Europe is especially common for Westerners, and microstates are always a challenge. And it was definitely my case in the beginning. Heck, it's still my case right now with Africa or the island nations of the Pacific.
That being said, there are a few tricks that help. For example, looking for puzzle pieces. You already know about Portugal and Spain, and you managed to work your way through Germany and Austria, but to me, a puzzle piece even more obvious than the latter is Czechia and Germany. That dent you said is characteristic of Germany is in fact where Czechia fits. There's also Croatia going around Bosnia and Herzegovina. And of course, there's Ireland and Northern Ireland. Obviously, you can't do that with every country, but it's good to be able to when you can.
For microstates, there are actually two which are easier to identify because of how tiny they are.
As Map Men sung: Little Monaco's so tiny, you can see the piers within. (Chile's very, very, very, very, very long and thin... sorry, I had to finish the rhyme)
The other one is the Vatican City, the smallest country in the world by land area, which is basically just a big fortress, and you can actually see the geometric shapes of the fortifications in the West. There's also a bulge in the South-East which is St. Peter's Square (which is oval-shaped).
Some shapes are more distinct than others in general, like Ireland's iconic Western coast, or the tentacle-like Southern borders of Switzerland. You even made the connection between Bulgaria and a bull, which is a good way to remember it too. But even after becoming more familiar with these more distinct shapes, I will definitely not blame you for being confused by the blobs.
Hey Ryan!
Cool you did that challenge! :)
43% is a good result. I think Europeans would have around that in average. And much worse results for US-States 😅
Keep going! :)
100% or higher is the only good result.
It's nice that you were brave enough to make this quizz. Nobody can expect you to really know most country shapes.
"These are way easier" - my dude, I see only a bunch of rectangles hahahaha
"They all look the same "
Wyoming talking to Colorado about European states
Ooh! Just did this the other day. 4:52, 85% 😊
Very well done. And your frustrations were sound
@viaMrRyanWuzer Alright :-) How. Just here?
Imagine puzzles like that...
really good
Very good! Congrats! With a map you probably will get close to 100%. 👍
For an American you are Good.
Not only for an american!
@@maxheadroom22and26Only for an American. Europeans would get 101%
Monaco is really easy. It's the only one that's so small you can see the piers on the country map (all the other insanely small countries are landlocked).
I mean i can point out every european country on a map, but when they are like this im struggling so you did well
There's enough of them I know as a European, but re-scaled and scrambled, it is a lot harder to differentiate a lot of the countries, even as a European. I would've gotten plenty wrong myself 😭😂 one comparison I can give you at least, similar to the "Italy looks like a boot" one-this one's funny actually, because you said Romania looked just like another country, but Romania actually kinda has the shape of a fish, if you look at it. That's one added comparison that might help you out 😂
"How stupid do I look? Just be honest...
Actually, don't."
😂
*scores not well* :
"I can't believe I did that good 😐"
😂😂😂
❤❤❤
Actually, I think you did really good! I could feel, you know most of these countries and could probably pinpoint them on a normal map
Link the quiz in the description, please.
European Outline Country Quiz on GeoGuessr
2:45 Ryan wuzer :this could be russia: points at ukraine.
Im from canada and I got a 49%, its so hard since the countries aren't to scale!
Ryan, you are very good at recognizing those states cuz they look all the same and i wouldn't have made it 👏
As french, I say you did pretty good 👍
Even for me, the Balte states, the most east country and the micro-states (Malte, Andorre, ...MontéNegro, ...) are hard
As a European I got 93% right. The smaller states (Andorra, San Marino, Luxembourg, Liechtenstein) got me because I never visited them and you rarely get to see them on a map.
That's really not bad. Fell apart at the end when it should have been easier, but we'll done
Pretty good not gonna lie!! I paused at the start because I wanted to take the challenge. I think I did okay with 68%. But I'm living here so eh... Honestly though it was difficult to figure it out just by the shapes, if it was on a map it was a whole lot easier. Suddenly the shapes looked so much alike haha.
Mistaking Brlgium for Netherlands, you just created your own The Beers War. 😅😅😅
scaled down, that is tricky :D
Hi from Denmark - Well done
Good show, Ryan!
I'm from Germany, in Central Europe, and only managed 61% in 8 mins - and in the US one it was a dismal 32% in 12 mins.
I didn't even get Indiana right - I thought it was one of the very regular ones, had totally forgotten the bulge to the south west.
Honestly as someone who lives in the centre of Europe even I had issues with some countries. Good effort.
with the size adjustments and without locational context its indeed harder than i thought. only managed 58%, i expected more like over 80 haha
You did very well. It's also difficult that the countries aren't represented in their actual size. I think many Europeans wouldn't have done better than you, especially regarding those smaller states.
I would have missed a few too, especially ones in eastern europe.
You did great honestly! A lot of Europeans would have done worse (except for confusing France and Spain 😬😬😬)
As a West European, it threw me off in the same way as most of us.
Scale and location are good indicators, now they're removed. Got a score of 42%. Big countries are easy, freaking Moldova, Latvia, The Vatican? Come on.. You did pretty well, dude!
That does look hard. You did better than you thought you might, nearly half - well done! The island of Ireland is slightly higher - you're forgetting that part of it is in the UK....
11:40 Ireland island is actually taller than Ireland country, because there is a part of island under UK.
Don't worry man, I didn't take the test, but from memory I could draw very few states that make up the USA; these are: Alaska, California, New York, the two Carolinas, Texas, Colorado and Wioming (they're easy), Florida, for the rest I'm like you for Europe
I'm European, and I was only 100% sure about Sweden, Norway, Demark, UK, Ireland, Italy, France, and Spain. The rest was a guessing game 😅
im proud of you that you got Austria correct😉
I'm european, I done this quizz and get 52%... The point is that I'm over 50 years old and I don't reconize all those new lands. Many old lands splited in two or three or more pieces. So, i would say : good job, you're not so bad !
2:45 He turned into Putin for a sec 😂
Where can we find this quiz?
it's probably on sporcle

@@maxheadroom22and26 56% a german who is really bad in geografics
Croatia has more than 1000 islands.
There is a way to get better at this: just repeat the quiz several times, and you will recognize more and more countries.
You did so well! I would not have more than 5 correct... And I am European
Before I watched this video I played this game (but in the version where it doesn't tell you what the wrong country you clicked on is) and I got 49% right in just over 16 minutes.
omg. I couldn't do that. Imagine it's like a puzzle. Let's make a new Europe then 🙂 You did well, in my humble opinion.
Me as European would have done much more miserable, I think your result is awesome!
Even me as an european only had 52% so be proud of your result.
As a Dane, I will also have a big problem with the American states, east & west coast, maybe passed, but then it will be more difficult with the rest!
I got to say, an american that knows Andorra exists is in itself quite the accomplishment.
Tbf the only 2 truly obvious ones are Italy, because you learn it’s shaped like a boot at a young age and the UK/Britain, it being an island, you are more familiar with its shape anyways. It sticks out.
There is a few more obvious ones but can be tricky seeing the shape of them not connected together…. Well done anyways. 👏
i mean if you always see maps of Europe while in class all your life you jsut get used to the shapes, especially if you have a thing for geography like me, i would have guessed all of these, but for instance pretty much all of my friends (who are all European like me) would get liek a 50% - 60%
I was never good at geography okay and just looking at them before you even began I was sure about two. My own country : The Czech Republic and Italy. Then a bunch where I was not sure and then most I got no clue. Probably would get Norway, Germany and Russia too.
This is Seterra geoguessr, I tried that one too and yes it is hard.
Croatia has around 1000 islands
This is a strange test because it is not to scale...
Let’s just click wildly on anything green 😂😂😂
