What a fun player to watch as well man. Honestly the wrist injury might have screwed him but he was behind a terrible team in the cardinals and Texans. No matter the position I believe the culture and structure of a football team matters. No one player can make everything better.
Left out got big payday, married and scared to get hurt. He’s a family man can’t knock him for that but he should just retire if not going to hit the hole at 100%.
After Bruce and Palmer left it appeared the new systems didn’t fit him. He wasn’t running with authority and it looked like he lost his burst. Under Bruce he was or appeared to be a major focal point and after Bruce not so much. His receiving skills are outstanding and I hope he be plays outstanding for the Texans(I’m a Cardinals fan). I don’t believe he was a 1 year wonder because he did some special things in other years just not at elite status. The Cardinals were terrible teams after Bruce let’s not forget but the word best described for David after Bruce should be Hesitant. He looked hesitant, indecisive, lack of burst.
He was a great player but you have to understand, the 2015 team he was on, made him great. He had a good line to make the routes. Understand it’s the team that will make you great. Of course there are arguments, if your great you are great!!!!
I love David he is form the best state in America and made a great decision not going to Iowa it’s bad luck there, and let’s keep, this streak alive with guys who played football in the state of Iowa with David Montgomery, I don’t think he’s going to be that great with the Texans but at least he’s getting a decent chunk of money.
He's a dancer and a cutter, not a downhill power runner. The dude became a body builder though. He got way too buff and can't physically do what he was good at at that elite level anymore.
My first ever playing fantasy football and I drafted him #6 overall or something like that, and that was in 2016 the mans was soooo great that year that I actually won the league in my first year (I also had lesean McCoy too, but I got lucky that’s was right before he fell off the cliff). Well the next year some dude in the league drafted him #1 overall lmfao and I had the second pick and I would’ve got him if he didn’t.
I think he’ll bounce back, his rushing stats in 2019 to start are kinda skewed bc we rarely ran the ball stick to a 4 wide out set a lot. When he was running he was averaging like 5.6 yards per carry or something? Then the backfield looked unstoppable when they got a dual back set going w chase edmonds... until they both got hurt and we were forced to trade for Kenyan drake, who turned into a steal. But at that point in the year we had started actually using the ground game unlike the beginning of the year. I think if they plugged Johnson back in he would’ve produced but instead they replaced him abd gave him the occasional chance to rush. But rushing once or twice a game isn’t a good gauge bc he doesn’t get a chance to get warned up. And despite only playing half a season he still had 3rd most receiving yards on the entire team. Frankly o think Johnson’s problem in AZ was other than fitz we had no huge threat so it was easy for teams to commit to ground and man up on receivers. Texans don’t have d hop anymore, but so many good receivers in fuller, stills, and cooks they won’t be able to commit to ground so I think johnson is gonna have tge best season he’s had since 2016 maybe even better w the chip on his shoulder to prove himself
I remember having him on my fantasy team when he had the wrist injury. I hoped he would come back, but I was disappointed.
Ikr
He was an older RB prospect to begin with. That wrist injury took alot out of what made him good. He could no longer keep guy off his body.

Ay! Sick Video!!!!! I hope David Johnson bounces back with the Texans!
I hope so too!
lol
Got his big contract. got injured. then wife had a baby - didn't want to risk his health after that and played not to get injured ever since.
I had David on my keeper league when he was a rookie and year two it paid off.

Maybe you should do a team as a whole like what happened to the 2016 raiders they went from super bowl contenders to 4th overall draft pick

Agreed

Same for me but I picked him up his rookie year after cj2k went down and won just bc he lit it up once he was the starter.
I had him on my fantasy thinking nothing of it and this mf went off all season took me to the SB 🤣💀
You gotta do jamarcus Russell one time
Would a “What happened to Matt Schaub?” Video work?👀
I think that could!
@@ScottFisherCFB rare foot injury most dont recover from.
