+john lawrie maybe the question should be have you written something as mighty as Smoke on the Water? and the answer is of course no...damn it, how awesome must it be to be the author of that
+Dave Thompson yes mate there is one in Dumfries at John Douglas Alec Rafferty tell him i sent you if you are up this way.I usually tweak some more after a job has been done, the action at the 24th fret is just under 2mm
Heard of Shawn Lane? He also played lots of fusion and he was definitely faster than Holdsworth. In many aspects, I would also call him an even better musician and songwriter than Holdsworth (and keep in mind that I really, really like Holdsworth). Check him out if you haven't, I think you might like it! :)
First of all, I am not interested in speed at all, I wrote my comment just because I was genuinely impressed. Yes I know Lane, but I don't like him very much. While Lane sound like a regular guitar player boosted with a lot (A LOT) of "fusiony" sounding phrases, Holdsworth is a completely different animal from anyone else. I don't want to start a useless debate on who's better than who, it's just that I like him more probably because I'm fascinated by unconventional stuff. Cheers :)
I had 1 lesson with Roy and my speed jumped from 600npm to 900npm!!! Truely astonishing that any human can play this fast!!!! Well worth checking out!
Roy ain't bullshiting, Low fingers, fast speed, mostly the pinky as Rowen said. Midi pick up helps too lol
Roy, can you play Smoke on the Water?

Hi Roy, what brand and gauge picks do you use?
More Roy
So fast it sounds like a video game from the eighties, but is that a good thing ?
@bazeye It's all context isn't it?

You got any good techs up there? I seriously need some tweaks I suspect :) When we say "low" just how low is your action mate?

Nice. If I can get up that way I shall - that action on my main axe is pants compared to yours lol :)
Cheers fella.
Roy,
Could I ask something about guitar?
Damn, this guy is faster than Allan Holdsworth ... I didn't thought that was possible.
+RisikoFromTheVault With Roy all things are possible...
+A.O. Shawn Lane is(was) faster than this guy.

I think Holdsworth has the more original and unique voice. Two very different players though so comparisons are pretty redundant here.
how to speed develop..?
ki yoz Time, patience, practise.
