it's melting - you're so talented... pls, don't stop playing and improvising you should be famous - there's alot happening in your music - I already fell in love with it... your playing too - there's something seriously un-missable... sincerely transparent and contemporary dialogue... I am a fan already! just heard countless times your birthday improvisation.. it dropped my heart!
Any way you could play the first part of the old Barbra Streisand recording, "With One More Look at You", please ? Her recording is ruined (in my opinion) with that silly 2nd song she tacked on, for the movie. She should record just the gorgeous & romantic first song and leave off the 2nd. That would be spectacular. Your playing is absolutely breath-taking! You're almost as good as Mahler! :) Please let me know if you post a recording of my request. Many thanks & congrats! U R TERRIFIC!
where do you teach your philosophy? Do you also teach how to do improvisation? lots of people need to be explore their potential. piano world needs new blood and playing in new way. I bet you'll be a good teacher!!
Hello Michiel - you're a great talent.. I wish you don't stop playing and improvising... I keep listening to your only 2 clips on youtube, and wish I could listen to more of your works. I am also wondering what was that musical you played/ recorded.. I noticed somehow, you've based your improvisations to its rythm in a refrain fashion.. I really like this style -I am also curious about this piece of musical, what is it so I could find it on the web! :) keep it up
Have you considered letting your fingers "do what they want" and moving toward a career in composition? Your interpretation of Happy Birthday is one of the most impressive I've heard.
@michieldpiano So why not just slow things down a bit? Your fingers will go there, but maybe not at the tempo you desire. It'd be a shame to throw your talent away for your subjective pursuit of 'perfection'. Please do keep it up! Your improvs are fantastic!
at least in teaching you will divulge your great knowledge and talent to others. And I don't think that one can ever stop playing. there will be times in teaching that you will get out old and new repertoire and practice again. I know it as a fact because it has happened to me, and I am twice your age. You will be ok, don't worry.
No! Please don't quit the piano! I created this account to beg you to keep on playing. The classical music world has enough recordings of the chopin etudes, rach preludes etc.. We need more original musicians like yourself. If you must quit though, do you have any advice for aspiring composers/improvisers? Would you recommend formally studying music theory for instance?
@pianoforte611 I can assure you that I won't quit the piano. For improvisation I can not recommend music theory. I only can recommend using your ears and your heart. I have absorped the style of my favorite composers. I was happy that I played my first improvisation concert in July. It was magnificant. I improvised on gregorian themes, jewish themes and protestant themes in the style of Ravel, Chopin, Steve Reich, Bach, Moussorgsky/Tchaikovsky, Mozart and Rachmaninov.
It's Chick Corea - Armando's Rumba. I hope to record a new impro soon in style of Schumann.. not on an existing theme. I've experienced so much lately... it's inspiration. Finding a piano to record on is a difficult task..
You are unbelievably talented. I've never seen anything quite like it. All the best
