    The Space Phantom... Not to be confused with Space Ghost.
    Captain America had to deal with an "adaptoid", so now the Hulk has to deal with a similar being in the Space Phantom.

    The Space Phantom looks like the combination of a vampire and a gargoyle.

    Spot on - Marvel's geniuses tend to be pretty thick when it comes to dealing with other people. And jeez, Wasp wanted to be the Avengers Quinjet and give everyone a ride. 😅

    The space phantom was cool character. His race was warlike, and used time travel recklessly. They basically retconned themselves out of existence. He was given the swapping power by immortus,

    In the original comics, the Hulk teamed up with Submariner to try and destroy the Avengers. I would have loved to see that in the live movie.

    I watched these cartoons in the 60's. I don't remember The Wasp being so forward! Lol.

    I always got the impression that the Hulk hated humans, so why would he want friends?
    I always thought that all the Hulk wanted was to be left alone. So, he joins the Avengers so he won't be lonely? I guess he was at the current writer's whim at the time.
    I seem to recall an Avengers comic book that had a Christmas storyline. Seemed kind of silly seeing the Hulk wearing a Santa hat.

      I recall that Christmas comic. One of the Avengers gave Hulk a gift. (Earmuffs, maybe?) I can't remember what it was, but the hero said, "What do you give a guy who has nothing?"
      (My answer: "Something.")

    Iron Man's pretty hefty here. That's because the art is from Avengers #2, 1964 and Tony Stark os still wearing his clunky original armor which was grey, then all gold. The cartoon colorist made it the familiar red and gold color for 1967.

      When I first saw this way back when in the 70’s I was confused and blown away. At the time I didn’t know about his original armor. This is the only time Iron Man was colored red and gold in his bulky armor. He looked so much cooler and tougher this way. He went toe to toe with the Hulk in this armor.

    Hazel is a very pretty cat. My son, living on his own, got his first one, and she's a mixed calico just like Hazel. She is ridiculously smart - my son is amazed. Yesterday he found all the toys she's been hiding in the closet....as well as a KFC biscuit box - she lovers her some biscuits.

      She's my baby. I had never had a cat before that was just mine, not the family's. I'm glad your son is enjoying his baby. My daughter's cat likes to hide things like that under the bed. Her favorites are plastic wrappers for just about anything. The crinklier, the better.

      @@dwashbur Thank you sir. It's those ponytail holding fabric rings that my son's cat goes nuts for - she plays fetch like a champ, and is relentless in her searches, usually leading to partial room destruction.....

    • @dwashbur
      @dwashbur  7 місяців тому +3

      I'm not sure these even qualify as sixties animation. They're fairly unique. Most everything is lifted straight from the comics. Put an image, make its mouth move and you have "animation". Take the figure, speed lines and all, move it across the screen and you have "animation". I've never seen another show or series that did it this way.

    IIt was a stupid reason for Hulk to leave. They talked like they didn't want him there? Tell me, did they talk sweet and threw him kisses when he decided to join? In the last page of Avengers # 1 Hulk, himself, said that he was sick of being hounded so Hulk said to them "So whether you like it of not" Hulk was joining the group. What a lot of crap that the Hulk suddenly became Mr. Sensitive. This was a blunder of inconsistency on the writer's part.

    • @dwashbur
      @dwashbur  7 місяців тому

      The Hulk often did that. His diminished capacity had trouble understanding the ups and downs of human thoughts and emotions, and he especially didn't like it when he felt that someone had turned on him. He was always a fairly confused little fella.

    • @henrycuevas2834
      @henrycuevas2834 7 місяців тому +1

      @@dwashbur This was a continuation of the last couple of Hulk comics that ended with issue # 6. While Banner and Hulk's personality were intertwined, I saw no inconsistencies in this period. Even after he turned against the Avengers (Avengers 3, 5 and Fantastic Four 26 he had a single-minded determination.

      Yes it was but when you were a kid back in the 1960s and early 70s you didn't care about how bad the animation was you simply enjoyed watching your favourite super heroes.
