Should the taper of a gooseneck liner be at the top of the inlet or at the bottom? There doesn't seem to be a consensus on how it should be installed

In general, the taper should be at the bottom of the inlet. We have seen some circumstances where an instrument manufacturer recommends it at the top, but aside from those specific cases, it should be at the bottom.

i would like to reuse my liners, can you suggest a method for deactivating them?

The first step would be to clean them carefully and see if that restores performance. You can find a procedure here: www.restek.com/frequently-asked-questions-faqs/frequently-asked-questions-GC-accessories/#sec06
You can try using reagents like DMDCS www.restek.com/products/reference-standards/Test-Mixes/GC/41112/ but that type of “pinpoint” deactivation is generally not as comprehensive as a polymeric deactivation. Restek and some other companies also offer liner re-deactivation as a service as well. You can find more info on that here: www.restek.com/frequently-asked-questions-faqs/frequently-asked-questions-GC-accessories/#sec16

Hi, how often is need to change it and when is need to change it?

Unfortunately, this will vary greatly, typically depending on how often samples are injected and how dirty those samples are. Some things that can indicate that it might be time to change your liner include seeing tailing peaks or loss of active compounds.

Do we need to depressurise the GC? If so, how do we do that?
