Many thanks for a very informative video & may I congratulate you on excellent filming & explanations of the process. I have a 2013 R350 non Bluetec here in the UK & the filter is due to be changed. I had been worrying a bit about it but, your video have given me peace of mind. Robert.
Hello. Happy you made this tutorial. I am thinking about purchasing a 2012 Mercedes Benz ML 350 BlueTec. I wanted to find out how long it took you to change the fuel filter. I am sure the Mercedes Benz dealership probably has not changed any of the filters. I will be test driving it on 4/9/2018. If you think I should no anything else about this vehicle; please let me know. It has just over 100,000 miles. Thanks for the info.
Hi, Im curious to know if you bought it and if so, what has been your experience? I just bought a 2012 R350 diesel with 165K drove it from LA to Dallas with no problems. Had to do basic repairs like camshaft position sensor (easy), fuel filter line was leaking so put temp line and ordered new lines and filter. By far, replacing box air filters was a bear. Let me know. Thanks
Thanks for the vid. Several times I've had to replace the rubber lines that connect to the fuel filter. Do you know what PSI hose is required? I have the 01 filter. TIA
The W166 engine has a T on the turbo 2" pipe that blocks the fuel filter access completely and makes this a completely different headache. Is there a video for removing that entire 2" pipe?
The Original Mercedes clamps are the Best. All other clamps damage the line and then it leaks Diesel. The Original clamps can be use after 100 Diesel Filter changes.
Great video Corey. I have read online that there is a computer reset that needs to be done after the filter change. The source of this info stated that the engine control module needs to know when the filter is changed so that it can calculate the filter life cycle? The source also said that if this reset is not completed, that the engine management system will activate "limp mode" because it thinks there is a dirty fuel filter in the system. Can you confirm if this is true? I have a 2013 ML350 Bluetec. Great video, thank you so much! Can you post a video on how to change the serpentine drive belt on these models? I'm still recovering from sticker shock after the dealer charged me $260 to change this belt.
I'll have a serp belt video in the future for sure. You need to reset the service interval in the cluster or it will say you are due for a Service B before you actually are. Easy to do. Lots of vids on here for service reset procedure.
Hi great video I had a fuel leak develop after a major service and took my 350 ml to my friends garage quick fix as service engineer had not fit the fuel filter properly. My friend noticed that the air intake prop on the turbo was very worn on the edges and had many groves in the blades he has told me that the turbo needs replacing ASAP . Is his information correct as he will make no money as Mercedes do any repairs.
I have the same engine and i have to change the fuel filter too, i heard that new filter would need to fill with fuel before changing. But probably there is no need to do that?
Many thanks for your comments. I have a X350 mercedes ute with a fuel problem. Q where is the filter and how many. also is it difficult to change. Regards Dene
Hello !, Thank you for the very descriptive video. Do you have any video on how to change Transmission fluid and filter on the ML350?.. I have a 2010...
I have the same OM642 engine and was told that I have a fuel filter leak. Do you think it;s caused from a clogged filter/broken O-ring or simply maintenance. Car has 67k miles with original fuel filter. thank you!
Hey thanks for the great how to video! I have a question for you if you wouldn’t mind replying back. I have 2011 diesel ML300, that’s has been stationary for nearly 4 years. Would I need to drain/Siphon the fuel or would it be ok to run? Should I replace the fuel filter straight away or after filling her up with fresh diesel?
So you don't have to fill the fuel filter with diesel first, simply turning the ignition on waiting for a while before starting the engine fills up the fuel filter?
That hose is for water drain. It has a squeeze clamp on it if it is removable. On some models the hose is not removable and a new hose comes with the replacement filter.
Which is what he said, check again at the 4:30 mark. The original Mercedes "squeeze clamps" are one time use and he recommends you replace them with reusable spring clamps.
Many thanks for a very informative video & may I congratulate you on excellent filming & explanations of the process.

I'll put that on the list!
How many miles before you change the fuel filter on a OM642 engine?
20,000 miles

Do you have any video on how to change Transmission fluid and filter on the ML350?.. I have a 2010...

Hi
Will u please let me know what is the exact part number and style of fuel filter for 2011 Mercedes Benz gl350 blutec 3.0 turbo
Thx
So you don't have to fill the fuel filter with diesel first, simply turning the ignition on waiting for a while before starting the engine fills up the fuel filter?
Thats right!
Hi there, is it possible to install the filter "3" the newest instead of filter "2"? in 2010 R350.
What pressure is the fuel filter running at if you are using spring clamps , wouldn't it leak?
There is a third hose at the five pin connector. How do you remove/reinstall it? I didn't see any clamps on it. Thanks.
That hose is for water drain. It has a squeeze clamp on it if it is removable. On some models the hose is not removable and a new hose comes with the replacement filter.
Can I bleed the lines one one
The system is self-bleeding.
Would having bubbles in the lines cause the car not to turn on??
Possible. Some air is normal, a lot of air is not and will cause the system to lose prime.

What is the best way to remove the OEM Mercedes pinch clamps?
Buy a $10 pair of pliers off ebay. simple using those.
F C That's exactly what I did. Well, I bought the $20 version. Amazing how easy it is to open and close those clamps with the right tool!
Needlessly difficult. Should be on the side
Yeah first comment
Great engine my arse... What bout the swirl flap problems!! Bull shit idea how they fail an are buried in the middle how you can't get to them.
It is possible to use, spring clamps more than once. You're more of a salesman than a mechanic.
Which is what he said, check again at the 4:30 mark. The original Mercedes "squeeze clamps" are one time use and he recommends you replace them with reusable spring clamps.
My Mercedes is a gl 320 bleutée 2009 what filter do I need thanks
