I loved him. He never got the true recognition he deserved a an accomplished pianist. He was BEAUTIFUL!! A one of a kind artist Sure he mixed a little comedy here and there but he loved to make people laugh and he had a sexy smile himself. It infuriates me to hear anyone assault his character as being a drunk. Watch the concert he did at The Hollywood Bowl ,see the respect and admiration his fellow musicians had for him and tell me who could play Gershwin's music THAT well(no sheet music mind you) especially Rhapsody In Blue
And BE A DRUNK!!!! It makes me so mad. He deserved a standing ovation from those people. If ONLY I could have been there. I love you Dudley and ways will. 😢💖💖💖💖💖

Very true Linda. Piano is my passion not just my hobby, and I could only ever dream of being able to play Gershwin like Dudley could. He was indeed a very talented man and a very sad miss.

It has been such a terrific burden for people in this visual age, where everything since the advent of television focused audiences on how they looked compared to unrealistically beautiful people they watched in their homes, so that you get an _ENORMOUSLY BRILLIANT AND TALENTED MAN_ like Dudley Moore, who could acknowledge his brilliance but couldn’t use it to buoy his spirits against his perceived physical weaknesses. When I watch him in a video as he uses the “Colonel Bogey March” to improvise a sonata in the style of Beethoven on the piano, I’m overcome by his unbelievable skill and his understanding of Beethoven’s style to the point that he can simply improvise it, it’s simply amazing! How sad it is that he wasn’t able to make himself believe that his perceived physical shortcomings were completely unimportant compared to all of his other gifts, which he had in great abundance! Heartbreaking.

Here, BBC is doing a far better job of covering "Dud" Moore's life story following his passing than NBC did on that day. Tom Brokaw on NBC NIGHTLY NEWS just made a brief mention of Dudley Moore in just a few weak words which seemed to say that had Milton Berle not passed away on the same day as Dudley Moore, Dudley Moore's passing would have received more news coverage. I'll NEVER forgive NBC or Tom Brokaw for that. "Dud" and "Uncle Miltie" should have gotten EQUAL time because they were BOTH entertainment powerhouses!!!!
