  • Wonder what homeschooling looks like with a child with Special Needs? What about the rest of family? Do they get attention too?
Here is our Day in the Life. It's been a while, but you deserve to take a peek into our lives to see how we are progressing.
I am a homeschool mom of 4 kids, ages 13, 11, 8, and the 6-year-old has down syndrome. I am a former public and private school teacher and I currently do evaluations for the state of Florida.

I’m fascinated to watch her progress. There isn’t very much out there covering actual progress in SNE homeschooling, only sort of one-off videos or what lean towards motivational chats. She’s bright as a button and she’s going to do great. I hope I can follow along her journey with you!

Sorry- just to add: from what I see, you’re going the sight word route as opposed to phonics (as is recommended for visual learners, especially kids with DS). Is the idea that the abstraction/generalisation happens later naturally? I mean that eventually, through being exposed to large numbers of, for example, CVC patterns, the learner ends up picks up CVC phonics rules naturally?

I've heard the opposite. I've read that DS needs sight words because they have skip over a specific developmental phase in language.

For my work? 9pm until whenever I get tired. It's my downtime.
