      Ir guided missiles are passively guided, so there is no warning to the pilot until they hit or the pilot sees the contrails. In this instance the pilot released flares after he was hit in case more missiles were inbound under the hope he would be able to land his crippled craft.

    • @romanmaster3217
      @romanmaster3217 Рік тому +4

      @Add...you're correct, the pilot is supposed to release the flare before the missile hit the chopper. All crafts carry a radar which detect that a missile is coming.
      Evidently, this helicopter didn't have any radar to detect missiles or the pilot was distracted.

    • @Typexviiib
      @Typexviiib Рік тому +12

      @@romanmaster3217 if you assume the pilot was at the absolute max range of a stinger, which is 3800 meters, the pilot had at most 5 seconds to act. If the pilot was lower than that, or had to wait for the missile to clear a ridge or tree line to be picked up by radar, he more likely had 1 to 3 seconds to react. That's not much time to stop what you're doing, figure out what tone youre hearing is, and take action.
      But, being russia it's entirely possible his early warning radar just didnt pick it up at all.

      “I, a Ukrainian volunteer, with this oath voluntarily place myself at the disposal of the German Army.
      I swear allegiance and obedience to the German Leader and Supreme Commander of the German Army, Adolf Hitler.
      I solemnly undertake to carry out all the orders and orders of the superiors, as well as to keep all military, state and official affairs strictly secret and thereby faithfully and faithfully serve the German Army and at the same time my homeland.
      It is clear to me that after my oath, I am subject to all German military disciplinary sanctions. The end of my service as a Ukrainian volunteer is determined by the German Army.”
      After reading the text of the oath, each Svidomo or a sympathizer from the handshake Akhedzhakomakarevichs will once again be convinced that the Bandera "fought against Hitler."
      They "fought" often in SS uniforms, with German weapons, hiding in caches made by German sappers.
      The roots of the slogan “Glory to Ukraine! Glory to the heroes!" are quite obvious: this is a natural tracing paper from the famous German National Socialist greeting Heil Hitler! Siegheil! ("Glory to Hitler! Glory to Victory!").
      In addition to the same syntactic construction, these phrases are formed according to the same accentological principle (stresses in the same places), and the Ukrainian analogue initially began to spread among the Ukrainian emigrants in the countries in which fascist regimes were in power under the patronage of the latter. It is no coincidence that it was adopted at the II Congress of Ukrainian Nationalists in April 1941 in occupied Krakow.

      It's impossible to eject out of helicopters because the rotors spinning above you chop you up like a food processor. The US spent many millions trying to make some type of rotor blade ejection mechanism so that once the blades were gone the pilot could eject like an airplane pilot does but all three different ways the tried it did not work AND made regular operation of the prototypes almost impossible. I think about $84 million was spent on the project (that may seem like a lot but for military development it's chump change)

Doesn't matter, here are several alternatives available from several other countries.
