ABC's Split Second with Tom Kennedy, "The Fast Way" (The Original Unedited Theme)

- This video collage that I made is from the game show, "Split Second" that aired on ABC from March 20, 1972 to June 27, 1975.
The host was Tom Kennedy.
The theme song is called "The Fast Way" by Stan Worth.
There are two different takes of "The Fast Way." The first song is the original unedited version that has not been released until now. The second is the edited one taken from "The Best of TV Game Shows, Part 2."
The original ABC version is believed to be wiped due to network practices at that time. Six episodes are known to exist:
- Four consecutive episodes from May 19--24, 1972, featuring Michael Russnow (prior to the adoption of the "Singleton" and "Memory Buster" elements).
- An episode from May 8, 1975, with Marvin Shinkman becoming a five-time champion (Shinkman was later a champion on Double Dare in 1977 and Jeopardy! in 1986) and the June 27, 1975 finale.
The UCLA Film and Television Archive holds 15 episodes spanning the entire run, beginning at Episode #39 (May 11, 1972) and ending with the finale.
R.I.P.Tom Kennedy 1927-2020.Your Host of the Show.
We love you
Tom Kennedy (Narz) and brother Jack Narz...from my hometown, Louisville, KY...brothers-in-law to the great Bill Cullen!
I guess that makes them America's First Family of Game Show Hosts!!! Don't it, King Bee??? :) :)
no nothing great about Bill Clinton King Bee lousy President God damn rapist if he was a real man he would have resigned it was my opinion Bill Clinton should have definitely resigned
Split Second with Tom Kennedy was my favorite 1970s TV game show. Great theme music too. Thanks for uploading this!
Now *_there's_* another likely candidate worthy of revival for ABC's Summer Fun & Games block.
Split Second is a Stefan Hatos-Monty Hall production! Jack Clark speaking!
Best game show ever. I love TPIR, but this one was just too cool.
Loved this show, loved this theme! the driving bongos are perfect for the first part.
Happy 90th Tom Kennedy!
I remember this as a car cue for the New Lets Make a Deal in the 80s
I LOVED THIS SHOW ~
I'm just wild about the 1970's version of Split Second that was hosted by Tom Kennedy!
No, Fremantle Media is producing "Let's Make a Deal" via a licensing deal with Monty Hall, as Dick Clark Productions did with the 1994 NBC version. ""Let's Make a Deal" and "Split Second" are still Monty Hall's properties (Stefan Hatos passed in 1999).
Monty Hall, Martin Halperin as was, had also died recently; however, his best-known program, "Let's Make A Deal," continued in modern times, with Wayne Brady having become "TV's Big Dealer" in his stead.
In his last years, Mr. Hall was a guest of Mr. Brady on a "Let's Make A Deal" edition, in a kind of "passage of the torch," but it did not go as well as it could have. Mr. Hall clearly looked and sounded unwell by then, and even though it was his last hurrah, it was also a sad end to his brilliant career. He died not too long afterwards.
Split Second was Revived in Late 1986, with Monty Hall as the Host.
And that version was very bad.
In that version's defense, it was produced in Canada, where Hall's from.
Tom Kennedy (Jim Narz) and the late Jack Narz are the only brothers ever to emcee different game shows on television.
Also used as a car cue on the 1984-86 version of "The All-New Let's Make a Deal".
I thought that around 2005 or so, "Split Second" almost returned to ABC, and that a pilot for a new version had been taped with Tom Bergeron as host.
But instead, the network decided to turn the 12:30-1 P.M. EST/EDT half-hour (ironically, the timeslot of the original version) back to local stations.
Had ABC kept the 12:30-1 half-hour, the revived "Split Second" probably would have been successful.
I believe Fremantle Media now owns (Stephan) Hatos/(Monty) Hall Productions and it's properties.
I would LOVE to see "Split Second" return, but I'm afraid that the producers would have to dumb it down for today's audience, which is (IMHO) what has happened to "$100,000 Pyramid." In the words of Darth Vader, "All too easy."
Maybe ABC would still have a chance to do a revival of Split Second for daytime game show but with double the dollar amount of $50, $100, $250 for round 1 and double the dollar amount for $100, $200, $500 for round 2, the Countdown Round would remain the same with a contestant was ahead at the end of round 2 with the most amount of money who would have to answer 3 correct questions to win the game, the contestant who was in second place who had to get 4 questions correct to win and a contestant who was in third place would have to answer 5 correct questions to win the game. This revival of Split Second would be hosted by Tom Bergeron and would replace The View's 11 AM - 12 Noon EST/EDT/10 AM - 11 AM CST/CDT and it would be team up with updated revival of Password Plus that would return to ABC and would be hosted by Bob Geon in the 11 AM - 11:30 AM EST/EDT/10 AM - 10:30 AM CST/CDT followed by Split Second in the 11:30 AM - 12 Noon EST/EDT/10:30 AM - 11 AM CST/CDT. ABC would move the View to a 1 PM - 2 PM EST/EDT/12 Noon - 1 PM CST/CDT and would be a lead in for the ABC Daytime soap General Hospital.
Richard Little well, with millionaire ending, that’s a perfect opp to revive split second. The cars they play for could be a little on the nice end.
@@richardlittle1663 That timeslot is a literal death sentence for any game show because guess who you're up against at 11 AM...
this show used to make me late for school during lunchtime...LOL
Yeah. It came on right after Password.
This was a good show.
Could someone please open a door to a pathway that leads to a time of classic game shows being broadcast like the original Split Second? That would be nice.
UCLA archives.
GSN is reviving this in april
This Is Are Champion (Insert Person's Name), And His/Her Two New Opponents, Today They'll Be Trying To Play Today For One Of These Pontiacs. Today On Split Second. And Now Here's Your Host, Tom Kennedy.

The Big Deal is worth...2:26 from The All-New Let's Make A Deal.
love the theme its fast pased
Does anybody have the clip where the contestant was down to her final car and it wouldn't start because a tech had disabled the wrong vehicle?
This theme would be split into cues for the 1976-1977 Las Vegas "Let's Make a Deal" and 1984-1986 "The All-New Let's Make a Deal".
Robert Lopresti This theme was never used on 1976-1977 LMAD. This theme was used ONLY on The All New Let's Make A Deal from 1984-1986.
The All-New version usually used it for cars.
More like, they used it for every single car... often multiple times in one episode!
In fact, that last note in the "return from commercial" cue was used when someone won big-time.
@@jnadle1 And for door #4.
I did n t even know Split Second theme music had a title by an artist The Fast Way by Stan WORTH h m m I 'll have to remember that
The "Category Board" looks just the one used for the big money "Super Match" on Match Game (CBS,1973-1982) minus the $100, $250, and $500 denominations located on the left side of survey answers.
Music by Stan Worth.
Channels 3, 7 and 42-what area was this out of curiosity?
Good thing is that I was born on 2009
The Car Prize cue from the mid-1980's revival of "Let's Make A Deal".
Today's ABC Daytime line up The View GMA3 What you need to know. General Hospital.
To bad this ain't a racing game show.
Compared to the theme songs for Goodson-Todman game shows, this one is really dull.
