This song makes me so sad. Just knowing that its based on a real person and her family, who were sadly murdered, makes my heart hurt. Anastasia and the Romanov family did not deserve this end. RIP to Tsar Nicholas II, his wife Tsarina Alexandra and their five children Olga, Tatiana, Maria, Alexei and, of course, Anastasia. You shall forever dance gracefully in my memory.

christel lens the Romanovs, the last royal family of Russia, were executed. For a while, there was hope that one of the daughters had survived, and a lot of people pretended to be said missing daughter, Anastasia, for money, power, fame, etc. Her body was eventually found. She died with her family.

Nikolas wasn't even a bad ruler. FAR better than what came after him. But he was very ineffectual. And when you have an absolute monarchy, that is perhaps worse than being brutal but effective.

I remember as a kid, used to love this melody so much, always wanted to play it. Then I got in music school and I asked my teacher to teach me how to play this. She would always refuse. So I decided to learn it myself. Found notes and day by day, bit by bit, I did it. I had a concert, more like a competition. I had to play the melody me and my teacher were working on for so long. And when it was my turn, I went on the stage , smiled at my teacher, sat and played this instead. She was in shock and guess what, I took the first place ❤ I absolutely love this melody ❤💓

2 years ago I was admitted into hospital with meningitis. It was hell for both myself and my family. We didn’t know if I was going to survive. In the end I had both arms amputated, one just below my elbow and the other up to my shoulder. (My left leg was also amputated mid thigh, I have to use a wheelchair sometimes)
Before that I was quite skilful in music. I played Guitar, Flute, Clarinet and Ukulele but Piano was by far my favourite out of all of them.
I used to play this all the time as it was my favourite song but now I sadly can’t. I come back to this video all the time to remind me. It makes me smile and yet yearn to be able to play like this once more.
I never realised what I took for granted but this has given me a new outlook on life and I strive to not let it defeat me.

    В зимний вечер когда-то.

    Вальс изысканных гостей
    И бег лихих коней.
    Вальс кружил и нёс меня,
    Словно в сказку свою маня,
    Первый бал и первый вальс
    Звучат во мне сейчас.
    Зеркала в янтаре
    Мой восторг отражают,

    Дом родной покидая.

    Here are the Russian Lyrics, case anyone was curious c;
    Kak uzor na ogne.
Like a pattern on a window.
    Snova proshloe rjadom.
    The past is near again.
    Kto-to pel pesnju mne.
Someone sang a song to me.
    Zinmij vecher kogda-to.
    One winter night sometime.
    Slovno v proshlom ozhilo.
As if coming alive in the past.
    Chi’ix- to berezhinix ruk teplo.
The warmth of someone's gentle arms.
    Valsy iziskonnyx gostej.
    The waltz of exquisite guests.
    I veg lexix konej.
    And brave horses running.
    Val’s kruzhil I njos menja.
The waltz spun and carried me.
    Slovno v skazku svoju manja.
As if beckoning in its tale.
    Pervyj bal I pervyj val's.
The first ball and the first waltz.
    Svuchat vo mne sejchas.
    Resound in me right now.
    Zerkala v jantare.
    Mirrors in amber.
    Moj vostorg otrazhajut.
    Reflect my delight.
    Kto-to pel na zore.
    Someone sang at dawnbreak.
    Dom rodnoj pokidaja.
    Leaving her cherished home.
    Budesh' ty v dekabre.
    You will be, in December.
    Vnov' so mnoj, dorogaja.
    Again with me, darling.

On this day, the 17th of July, 102 years ago, in a fortified mansion in Yekaterinburg, the Romanovs-ex-Tsar Nicholas II, ex-Tsarina Alexandra, their five children: Olga, Tatiana, Maria, Anastasia, Alexei and their four remaining servants, including the family doctor Eugene Botkin-were awoken by their Bolshevik captors and told they must dress and gather their belongings for a swift nocturnal departure. The White Armies, which supported the tsar, were aching; the prisoners could ready hear the boom of the big guns. They gathered in the cellar of the mansion, standing together as if they were posing for a family portrait. Alexandra, who was sick, asked for a chair, and Nicholas asked for another one for Alexei. Two were brought down. They waited there for what seemed like forever until, suddenly, 11 or 12 heavily armed men (and drunk) men filed ominously into the room. What happened next-the slaughter of the family and servants-was one of the seminal events of the 20th century, a wanton massacre that shocked the world and still inspires a terrible fascination today. A 300 year old imperial dynasty, one marked by periods of glorious achievement as well as staggering hubris and ineptitude, was brought to an end. But while the Romanovs' political reign was over, the stories and mysteries of the family were not. Nicholas was 50, Alexandra was 46, Olga was 22, Tatiana was 21, Maria was 19, Anastasia was 17 and Alexei was only 13...💔

    Dulce voz,
    ven a mi,
    haz que el alma recuerde,
    oigo aun cuanto oí,
    una vez en diciembre.
    Quien me abraza con amor,
    veo prados alrededor,
    esa gente tan feliz,
    son sombras para mi.
    Quien me abraza con amor,
    veo prados alrededor,
    esa gente tan feliz,
    son sombras para mi.
    Cuanto fue no murió,
    como fuego que prende.
    Volverá esa voz,
    cuando llegue diciembre.
    oigo aun cuanto oí,
    una vez en diciembre.

    German Lyrics
    Tänzerin,
    Bärenkind,
    letztes Blatt im Kalender.
Und ein Lied - jemand singt:
    Es war einmal im Dezember.
Sag, wer hält mich fest im Arm?
Schlittenfahrt - und doch ist mir warm.
    Paare drehen sich geschwind,
    Musik verweht im Wind.
    Königliche Geisterstimmen:
    Aahh....
Sag, wer hält mich fest im Arm?
Schlittenfahrt - und doch ist mir warm.
    Paare drehen sich geschwind,
    Musik verweht im Wind.
    Weit, so weit, lange schon,
    Märchentraum im Dezember.
    Sehnsucht ruft
    mein Herz nach Haus,
    über Meere und Länder!
    Und ein Lied leise klingt:
    Es war einmal im Dezember.

This is such a beautiful song to sing it is absolutely enchanting but very poignant, this is a beautiful tune and the lyrics just melt your heart and makes you cry, I love this piano version beautifully performed, FABULOUS, in the animated movie Anastasia has no idea who is she is and yet she tries to remember that somewhere along the line she was loved by someone and tries to recollect what she can in the hope that she finds herself again. I hope that all those who feel they have lost themselves and their identity find themselves again to relive their treasured memories.

Italian lyrics that nobody asked for:
    ~Quando Viene Dicembre~
    Feste e balli, fantasia
    É il ricordo di sempre
    Ed un canto vola via
    Quando viene dicembre
    Sembra come un attimo
    Dei cavalli s'impennano
    Torna quella melodia
    Che il tempo portò via
    Sembra come un attimo
    Dei cavalli s'impennano
    Sento quella melodia
    Nella memoria mia
    Forse un giorno tornerò
    Il mio cuore lo sente
    Ed allora capirò
    Il ricordo di sempre
    Ed un canto vola via
    Quando viene dicembre
    _wadda'ya think 'bout it?_

    Dias de felicidade
    E os cavalos na tempestade

    E os cavalos na tempestade
