    I grew up in the 90s, when Joe Morgan was an announcer. Even in this old clip, he sounds exactly the same haha

      He lost his starting job early that year was gone before the end of the next season. I remember in 77 when Doug Decinces who replaced Brooks was injured. Brooks was hitting so bad that Earl Weaver put rookie Eddie Murray at 3rd for a couple of games!

      @@eugeneodonnell4680I saw Brooks hit a ball deep in the hole at short. The shortstop bobbled it once, fumbled it again and still threw Brooks out. He was absolutely finished at that point.

    Included in this compilation is some precious, precious material: excerpts of the broadcasts of the League Championship Series and World Series on CBS Radio. How you came into these broadcasts in such clean shape is nothing short of a miracle, particularly for radio nostalgia buffs like me. Are these up for sale or can they be made available on UA-cam?
    In any event, you are the purveyor of a broadcast goldmine.

    You need to add video highlights of the 1976 California Angels (as the team was then called) in games played at Anaheim Stadium--and maybe at Yankee Stadium where Frank Tanana and the Angels were ahead 8-0 but had to settle for an 11-8 win in extra innings. (About 41 words without a single comma--lol!) I visited New York in 1976!

    Why does Brooks Robinson have such a small visor on his helmet? Wondered that for years….

    • @mediadugout2684
      @mediadugout2684  5 місяців тому +1

      We used to sit on the side by the visitors on deck circle from time to time at the Old Arlington Stadium.
      We got to see the players up close when we did. You could see where the helmet was cut when Brooks Robinson was on deck. I found this quote from him "Back in the early seventies, the Commissioner's Office made it mandatory for anyone coming into the big leagues to wear an earflap on your helmet. If you were already in Major League Baseball you had a choice whether to do that or not. Of course, I wanted to wear the flap because it gave me more protection. But when I got the helmet with the flap and put it on, it seemed like the bill was a little longer than my normal hat and consequently when I went up to hit I could see the brim and part of the flap. It made me lose my concentration. I took care of it by taking a hacksaw blade and cut about one and a half inches off the brim and about half an inch off the flap. That's how I got my short brim."

      @@mediadugout2684 great response! Thanks! Though I wasn’t a big O’s fan, they had one of the most respected and feared teams of the 70s! With the Robinsons, Powell, 4 twenty game winners in one year? Geez.

      @Mark-yy2py Saw the Orioles just about every time they came through Arlington until 1982. Respected them as well. Funny thing was being a die-hard Bucs fan the one time I wanted to see them was with my Grandparents in 1979 at Three Rivers in the series. My Mom said wait until next year. Still waiting.

    Pretty cool to see teams wearing their regular uniforms during spring training. Just from memory, I wanna say that this changed sometime during the 80s… I tried googling it, but I can’t seem to find an answer.
