  • Spaceflight Simulator Soviet N1/L3 Rocket Mission To The Moon
The N1/L3 (from Ракета-носитель Raketa-nositel', "Carrier Rocket"; Cyrillic: Н1) was a super heavy-lift launch vehicle intended to deliver payloads beyond low Earth orbit. The N1 was the Soviet counterpart to the US Saturn V and was intended to enable crewed travel to Earth's Moon and beyond, with studies beginning as early as 1959. Its first stage remains the most powerful rocket stage ever built, but all of the four flown N1 Block A first stages failed because of a lack of static test firings that did not reveal plumbing issues and other adverse characteristics with the large cluster of thirty engines and its complex fuel and oxidizer feeder system.

WHAT'S NEXT - Soon the next video will come in which the rockets of all the builders will be compared.
Hope you liked my n1 rocket. This rocket is designed for the SFS VANILLA Build Challenge.

I love that you did the cosmonauts spacewalk.
You made it very realistic until the Soyuz 7k-LOK's propulsion system got longer.
This was done as he needed to return to earth.
You also made the separation of the third stage very realistic :D!
Fun Fac: The LK did not have a bridge to the Soyuz, in fact it did not have a docking system.

    • @CardZed

@@ottovonbismarck8913 i mean, soviet designs werent better they were just designed differently
For example for the saturn V in order to light the 2nd stage engines instead of having gaps for the plumes they instead detached the first stage and then had small engines in the interstage to maintain momentum

    • @bob19611000
      @bob19611000 Рік тому

Correct, the "hot staging" starts with motor ignition then the separation sequence. Why the first stage doesn't melt? Well its a combination of the open lattice interstage, motors not being a full thrust at time of separation, and some "melting" is acceptable since its discarded.

This is one of the best n1 designs I've seen in sfs, the only inaccuracies that I noticed was that the LK lander had a solid rocket motor at the top to make sure the legs were secure as the lander didn't have much wiggle room for mistakes, because of that, the lander wasn't 2 staged, much like the mercury atlas the lander had a core and the legs, the LK lander would've detached the legs to save weight

Actually, you had some technical mistakes in your video:
1: The first is, that the second stage of the N1 rocket wouldn't make it to LEO and would be burnt up in the atmosphere, while the third stage would get the craft into LEO and all the way to the Moon.
2: It is not TLB (trans lunar burn), it is TLI (trans lunar injection).
3: The lander would actually dock to the mothership in low lunar orbit, but there would not be a tunnel between the two ships, and the cosmonaut would have to do a spacewalk, and he didn't have a thruster pack.
4: To ascent, the Lander didn't have to separate in order to open up the second stage, it just didn't have one, it would just detach it's landing legs.
Overall, nice video, thanks for the content.
