One time when I was playing new n tasty I made Abe make a sound and a slig said "must be my dead momma I shouldn't have killed her!" I was like whaaaaaa😂
One trick I've seen if you want to get past sligs without waiting for them to turn around is that you can try to possess them, even if those machines that shock you are there. The sligs will panic and run all over the place and bump into walls, giving you time to dash by unharmed.
I had no idea all these secret areas were here. I was wondering, after finishing the first stage, how I somehow manged to miss 40 guys.
Me rn 😢 I got to that part in the early game where you escape from Rupture Farms and before that there's a sign that says "if you escape all workers on this shift will die" and I thought I had rescued them all but when I found one of those screens with the progress it said 42 causalities 😅 so here I am, trying to see what I did wrong
Played the original as a 6 year old, never thought id watch a 3 hour speedrun of this remaster at 23 years old.

in the first secret area in rupture farms, after ya get all the mudokons on the right to the bottom, its much easier to pull the lever that activates the electric wall and have the last mudokon run to you when the grinder goes up.

Obey Rostipher Using pre-rendered backgrounds would've been incredibly stupid because they don't scale. At all. So in the future, if you'd want to play the game at a higher resolution, the backgrounds would look like crap.

ZiomASek300 They were actually painted in the original. They rendered the basic background images, but then they sent them off the the artists to paint over the top of them, so that all the backgrounds fit perfectly with each other, but were unique as well.

You have a weird definition of cute. I think they captured the atmosphere of the original pretty well. Only thing wich bothered me was the ad where you can see a real human since I don't think they even exist in this world.

@@dietisgreat On the scoreboard in the game (the one wich shows how many Mudokons you have saved so far) there is ocasionally an ad for a PS Vita game called Velocity. It's showing the game's main charachter wich is a human girl. I found that a bit immersion breaking but since you really don't see it that often it's not a huge deal. I'd still prefered if they would not have added it though.

Hey Shirrako, let me ask something: Considering you didn't skip most of the videos AND you never loaded a quicksave (sometimes like in Paramonian Temple you played all the way through again), can I assumed the final video time would've been way under 2h45m? I did bad on the start and will do again, but for some areas being like 2mins more than your time won't matter that much I think.
darkgodbm The video also includes cutscenes and credits which don't count towards the game time so i think you could take away about 8-10 minutes from the overall speedrun time. I made a few mistakes and it's on hard mode so it's pretty tough. You should be fine by going over my times, i did pretty bad in the first stage so you have a lot of time to spare if you do better in the first stage.
+Shirrako at some points you could call "watch out" with the Sligs to kill the others sligs, and you would save some time too

i used to be terrified of this game as a kid. it was realy hard and the creature that could kill me looking all alien creeped me out but i kept playing because i wanted to win. got stuck on the final stage of the game and never finished it sadly

Do you know what I never got? Why do the motion sensors in stockyard escape move? I get that it was done for the purpose of the game, but why wouldn't rupture farms make them stationary so it was impossible to get through them undetected?
It's context sensitive. That means it's sensitive to context.
Nice one for this. I watched through sections after I thought I had finished them to check if I missed any secrets. There was at least 3 I missed but managed to save all the Mudokons, thanks.
Try to continue after finishing this game, look at the end. Surprise theres a new stage after the end of game.
The old abe was much more grim. This is faster, cuter , more fluid, But I mean when you possess a slig the chant theme doesn't even play. The portal doesn't hum and it makes a cute noise when your brethren jump in etc.. I was genuinely scared of the old one as a kid. This one is looking good, but it's ok ish

IMO the new graphics and sounds made it somewhat less smooth and HAPPY (WTF it was supposed to be dark!), good run anyways, nice job there mate :)

There are no official guide books, only an art book that came out back in the day and that’s now a rare collectors item. Recently they did a new art book “Abe’s Origins”. But that was a kickstarter which thankfully I backed

Without the walking motion, Abe's initial speed is fast.
To do this, maximize the analog stick deadzone.
Or, input the stick downwards first, then add the horizontal input.
This is such a great game. Just played it through with a little help of this video here and there. But my ending was bad and Abe got killed :(

This remake was amazing for the most part but oh boy, did they butcher the Board Room trial. I keep winning it, yet I keep dying on the last screen (after the drop). I don't know what I'm doing wrong but I shouldn't be spending 10 mins on what's essentially an interactive cathartic cutscene.
Later I found out that I needed to save 6 muds at the end to get enough Shrykull charges to survive the final scene. Too bad that I was going for saving as few of them as possible so I never found out about the charge system (the OG doesn't even have it). Because of this, I had no idea what I was doing wrong. Smh devs

I know your comment is old but it's because New n Hasty is the name of a trophy/achievement in the game where you have to finish it in under 3 hours while freeing all Mudokons.

Beat the original, beat this one, amazing game.
Getting back into New n Tasty so bare with my speed. So Rupture farms I saved 100 percent of Muddokons with 30 minutes being my time. When I get back onto that chapter and just run though it, it doesn't class as finishing much faster.
And in Stockyards, I'ved saved 80 percent of them, when I selected chapter to save the remaining, finished the chapter and quit, it still saying I have only saved 80 percent. Any help?

When you duck the bat won't hit you. Abe will just freak out a bit but won't lose any birds.

You need to be nearer the right edge and sometimes say Hi to the mid first.
Are you calling this a "speedrun"? If so why are there edits throughout the run?
Not all speedruns are in one take. There's many segmented runs.
But this is pretty slow for a speedrun anyway so whatever
