Same here. I loved Coraline, Boxtrolls and ParaNorman!!! My children are big fans of those films so I've watched them loads of times (I watched Boxtrolls with my youngest 2 days ago!)
Thats so cool! I wish I could come there and see all that so bad but I cant.... mabye some day. Coraline is one of my favorite movies! Cant wait to see Missing Link and already ordered one of those Flipbook animiation sets from your kickstarter. Good luck with all that!
Andymation people, 2018 is very interesting, btw I love your job! You should post more videos especially the one that took you over 2 years!!!! I'm really interested
It's so cool to see the bluetooth Dragonframe controller because I have that software and controller myself and am remodeling part of my basement into a stop motion studio. I have some ideas I hope I can bring to life! it is very cool to know I have access to some of the same tools as the "big guys"!!! I'm nearly 58 years old and pursuing a life long dream of doing animation. Love it, Laika!
I never really gave any thought to the beauty of the animation process till watching Kubo. Now I watch the movies and see the artistry of the claymation and story come to life in a whole new way.
This is secretly my DREAM JOB! I am soo fasinated on how you guys are able to make such amazing movies!! I really want to be able to do this in the future.
Laika's stolen a piece of my heart ever since I saw a little clip of the armatures from various projects. Their pieces feel larger than life from the insane amount of detail from sculpt to paint. The styled touch of dark shading on top of the numerous strategically placed textures is enough to make me a fan for life, but then they had to go and make such a fluid and visually pleasing animation! Now I'm so spoiled by their style that it's very difficult for me to sit through any other stop motion film that hasn't been made by Laika.
I love Laika animations. It would be a dream to work for them. I made a stop motion puppet in college but it was downright rudimentary compared to these. We didn’t really have a teacher that could show me how to do it so I just did it from stuff I found online. I was pretty proud of it for a first try (The hands were terrible though)
I have never understood how one could be SO patient... so much respect for you stop motion animators oh my gosh😭😍 “I’ve been working on this for two years” like oh my gosh you’re amazing
Dude... what??? I was watching your flipbook videos and now I find this and I'm fangirling SO HARD. Coraline is my number 2 favorite movie of all time. I have button tattoos behind my ear. And Kubo was a masterpiece! Gah... subscribed ×1000
Never was really sure want career I wanted. But I cannot get over this, I'm so indulged in animating, even more so with your channel on stop motion and flipbooks. Thank you for showing me a amazing career path.
Fantastic! I never get tired of watching behind the scenes videos about Laika. I only wish there was more Boxtroll stuff included in this video since that was my favorite movie of the four. Cant wait to see the next movie!
This video was amazing!!! Thanks Andy for showing us around the Laika exhibit. You've definitely given me a new appreciation for all the movies and the workers on the movies. And visiting Laika is now on my Bucket List 😍
Love to see you in the middle of all the fun. It's been a long journey since "Scaredy Cats". What Laika has developed for the stop motion process is amazing!
Hi Andy thank you for sharing these insights. Never thought of a puppet hospital, whenever my students broke something or messed up on their artwork, I'd joke with them to take it to the Operation Room, which they loved. Animation has evolved immensely. I always wondered how the facial expressions were done. Now I know.
All those movies that you showed the sets for. I grew up watching. With them being my favorites. Except I haven’t seen the kissing link, but sure if it’s out yet. But I basically grew up watching stop motion and it has really stuck with me always. When I found your channel, i had no idea you worked on those and it just really shocked me. Seeing the sets, and finding out you worked on them.
I hadn''t realized that you animated for actual movies. I had only ever seen your flip-books, until today. Last year i was given the option to make a flip-book for school and i was super psyched to be able to do that. i immediately went to your channel to get any possible tips. Watching this, i just realized i might want to do what you do when i'm an adult. So cool dude! never stop your UA-cam Channel. P.S. I'm a freshman in HighSchool.
I haven't watched a lot of stop motions but I honestly LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVED CORALINE. Your flipbooks are what got me into animating with flipaclip! You're amazing :D
Omg!! If only I could've gone !! It would've been so fun , I love those movies especially Coraline and kubo !!! My favorites , till this day I still love watching it 😍😍 love ur vids , keep making more !!
WOAH!!! This video was mind blowing...i just started watching his videos recently and i didnt even know that he was one of the animators of coraline and paranorman I didnt even know how small these characters or puppets are Amazing work on those movies they one the best movies i ever watched

Stop motion is SOO cool it takes a lot of time to make these things u are a very lucky man I wasn’t able to go but thx for the video I feel like I was there
I have such an appreciation for stop motion animators, what you guys do is magic :)
Chrisdafuk isn't all animation stop motion? I mean really you work frame by frame in every single animation
yeah, most digital animating these days automatically fills in the in-betweens, stop motion is literally every frame.
I am currently working on a stop motion animation!
Dislike
Ya, stop motion is hard
How have I watched dozens of your videos and never realized that you animate for Laika Studios??!!
That's awesome dude!

It's hard enough to just animate stuff digitally, but I couldn't even imagine how hard it would be to animate stop motion!
