- The highlight of Comic-Con 2022 so far is this fully animatronic Grogu from EFX Collectibles, designed by the engineers and artists at Garner Holt Productions. We get up close with this incredible animated puppet, which uses 15 servos to recreate all of the character's joyful expressions seen in The Mandalorian. Star Wars fans at San Diego Comic-Con have to check this out!

I cant believe Tested is still helping to promote EFX. After Anovos they are probably the worst licensee out there. They have taken so much money from customers on pre orders and then still have yet to deliver any actual product. Just check the threads at the RPF. Stop helping these guys rip off fans.

Needs an IR sensor to enable tracking of moving objects. Imagine it looking at your hand like a cat as you go in to pat it on the head!
Have a look at the machine learning microcontroller stuff, Seeed Studio and others. Tiny camera for face recog

When I saw the one Adam had in that sling, the one Grant Imahara was designing, I immediately wanted one! I could just see him sat on my lap, riding my wheelchair with me ❤️
A very well done "minimal" version for display purposes... Has enough animatronics to look really good without being a VERY expensive piece of equipment to have on display with such open access... I love where they showed the more complex variant that has more functionality. Reminds me of an animatronic project or two I did several years ago for someone using a ventriloquist dummy. Nice work!

I’ve got a story for you regarding the prequels:
So my dad was the manager of the local JCPenny’s and JCPenny’s partnered with Lucasfilm to promote the Prequels (or at least Episode I). One of the ways that they promoted Episode I was to put a life-size statue of Anakin Skywalker, in his podracing outfit, in various JCPenny stores, one of which was the one my dad was the manager of. After the promotional period ended, he was most likely told to just throw it away, but growing up with the Original Trilogy and knowing how popular they were with his generation, he decided not to throw it away and instead brought it home. The statue then spent several years in our garage until my mom became a paraprofessional at a local school, which resulted in Anakin going on display in the school’s library. When she became a teacher at another school, Anakin went with her to that school’s library, who’s librarian just so happens to be a huge Star Wars fan, so Anakin has now found a new home.
my grandma worked at Walgreens for years and she got to keep around 10 of the life size cutouts of LOTR characters when they were promoting it at the time. love getting to keep stuff they were just gonna throw out anyways!
I recall a darth maul statue vaguely. I believe Pepsi had something to do with it? Either way those statues gotta be worth a ton these days haha

All that is really missing is that the Eyes are not looking around. They always stare straight ahead.

The eyes are also open too wide. They should not be that open in such a bright hall.
Yeah the eyes just look off to me, I think this might be partly why.

My daughter who is almost 9 watching this over my shoulder goes 'oh there's the real one!' ... she will not have it that he's a wee robot! ... I'm not going force the point! 🤣😂🤣
Don't worry. I haven't been 9 for a very long time now, and I still want to pick him up and give him cuddles like he's real. I see the behind the scenes videos where someone is moving his head and an another person is moving his arms, and I still believe he is real. I think it just shows what an amazing job all the people who have made Grogu come alive have done. 😊
And here I thought the 'budget' animatronic version was pretty good till I saw this 🤯
My only complaint is that he looks a bit sad and upset all the time. A minor thing, but having him smile would've made all the difference I think.

I’m not gonna lie. In 2050 it would probably be around 1,000 bucks because of how advanced humanity will be that that Grogu animatronic will be nothing compared to what creations there will be in the future.
ironically the eyes look wrong to me. Like there's too much visible sclera. Almost like the iris is correct, but not scaled properly.

Yeah. Wait till they take your preorder money and don't deliver anything for almost a decade. Bryan is a shameless crook. He owns over a million dollars of preorder money taken since 2014 for non delivery of the Biker Scout Legend helmet and Iron Man helmet. Buy at your risk
