The building at 16:10 is an old changing quarters for the swimming pool that use to be there. You can see the pool has been filled in and grass is growing. Sidewalk is still there in tact around the pool. Also, the little boxes are rat traps, so the trolls can trap their food. 👍
Oh wow! Thank you for all the info! That's awesome! I'm going to pin your comment! Thanks for sharing your knowledge with me! I really appreciate it! 💕💖
I’d love to seriously own it. Every time a fan rolled up to the house the windows would be open (obviously because it’s hot as fuck there in the summer) and ‘People are strange’ would blast out of Alexa through loud speakers. 😆
😅👍 I’d love to own it too! But as for the weather, it’s actually not that hot here at all during the summer. Perfect weather for hiking around grandpa’s house! Today’s high was 73 and it drops into the 50s as soon as the sun goes down. Haha I just imagined blasting People are Strange. “Death by stereo!”
Oh wow! Lichens! I think you're right! Thank you! And yeah, those boxes are interesting too! I have such a fun time exploring that area. Thank you so much for watching!
Thanks for making this video the way you did! I appreciate that you started in the car to show what the drive up was like and then the full walk on the trail. I’m going there in Nov. to do the Lost Boys filming locations and I was trying to see on Google maps what the actual walk was like through the woods. Great video and thanks for doing this it helped a lot 😎🤘
Oh awesome!!! And you're very welcome! Feel free to reach out if you have anymore questions about the area! You'll have to visit the boardwalk and the comic book store too! The original store was destroyed in an earthquake, but it is still here, just in a different location. The owner is very friendly and even has a framed photo on the wall from when they filmed in his comic book shop.
@@ChristineExplores Thanks I’m super excited! That’s one of my favorite Halloween movies. I have all my addresses and locations ready to go but I appreciate it 😄
So the plaque talks of the history but no mention of the movie, and kinda seems to end with the '80s? Or maybe deck restoration in 2009? What with the disrepair? What do they use it for lately?
Exactly... It's very sad! I don't think it's being used for anything unfortunately! And it's in such disrepair that it has become unsafe. That's why they have the fence up. I really hope an investor can do something to restore it. Otherwise, I'm afraid it may just end up being torn down.
It's the old Pogonip Clubhouse in Santa Cruz, CA. You'll have to hike up to it. The closest address I can give you is 333 Golf Club Dr. in Santa Cruz, CA. Then you'll have to continue down Golf Club Dr. until it dead ends and do the rest on foot. If you just follow the widest main trail all the way up the hill you'll find it!
I would love to have the money to restore it as best as I could as a second home or use it as a holiday place. I imagine the permits to do it would be a nightmare.
I wish I had the money to do that as well... It really is falling apart though. I imagine there are so many leaks, rot, and who knows what else. It's quite a shame that it wasn't kept up.
@@ChristineExplores If it was possible to restore it back to its former glory I’d definitely have the interior built similar to the lost boys set. 😆 The resting spot would make a good place for a pool, some benches etc.
The Cowell family estate owned the Pogonip portion until 1989 when Cowell's last remaining child of five, Harry Cowell, sold it to the City of Santa Cruz. So it’s now a historical landmark in jeopardy of being torn down I fear. 😭
Boooo . Awful explore. Advertising the lost boys house should actually be something to see. I can see an abandoned fence anytime anywhere . And I can see trees…this is awful and a waste of my time
@@kristigunn4971 The title says “Exploring AROUND the filming location”. It’s illegal to trespass past the chain link fence barricade. So I couldn't go inside.

Such a fantastic house
Isn’t it though? I would love to be able to see the inside. It must’ve been grand back in the day!

was just there Saturday, we took the Emma McCrary trail tho', decided we'd go back another day at sunset to see the house
That’s so awesome! I’ve never even taken the train! It’s on my to-do list though! 👍 And yes… you definitely need to come up and see the clubhouse!

I'd love to explore something cool like that around here. In Illinois we have corn =\

@@escapingmonday2501 😅 I guess you could say that. But I do miss my friends and the cheaper cost of living there.
How long did it take to hike to grandpa's house (Pogonip house)?
It wasn’t too awfully far! Maybe 30ish minutes depending on your pace. Totally worth it!
I don't know why.. I keep getting 'The doors' People are Strange, in my head while I am watching this on mute. .Lol...
LOL I wonder why? Hehe... One of my favorite songs by the way. There is a saying "Keep Santa Cruz (aka Santa Carla) weird" lol
