    Fuck bro, I’m late on this ... my bad. DEMANUFACTURE is my fave FF album and the title track you covered is my fave song from it. Raymond Herrera was a God. Slick heal-toe double strokes (4yrs ago no less) and tight af everywhere else. Props.

      Thanks man :) This comment is awseome. Glad ya like the vid. Got some other FF covers on here if ya interested. - Demanufacture is an incredible album, manaed to catch them in Glasgow, UK in 2016 and it was an epic show!

      @@jamesmetaldrummer I’ve subbed to ya now James, so I’ll be working my way through your other covers pronto. I’m Australian, prolly a little older than you and was lucky enough to see FF twice with Herrera on the throne. Caught them again in 2010 with Gene Hoglan handling drums for them touring here in Melbourne. Ray’s footwork changed the game in every genre of metal. Glad I found you brother. All the best!

      Thanks :) I'll be knocking out more vids as time goes on. I will redo some of the older covers soon. Ooo it would have been awesome to see them Herrera back in the day and also with Gene Hoglan. Indeed it did, I'm gonna go put on the album now! Take it easy dude! |m|

    Love those doubles on the kick bro. Watched your cover of Zero Signal. Used to love playing that song. I didn't play doubles like that but that is awesome 👏

    Hey bud...great work there! Not ragging on you man, but I'm currently listening to this to learn it, and I noticed he hits alternating 16ths on the hihats when the riff kicks in with the whole band. I was playing it the way you did here from memory of the song until I listened more closely. He does that on his hats a lot on the "Soul of a New Machine" album too. It does make the pattern more challenging! Also, I noticed from watching your video that I needed to go back and listen to the way he plays with the hihats during the intro, I was skipping over the intricacies there. Thanks.

      Hey Kent, agreed. I completely forgot about the 16ths, didn't even notice until about a month after uploading! It’s not a big difference to the way it’s played but it does mean switching the sticking around on any parts with 16ths so (if your right handed) you have the snare played with the right hand instead of left. - Thanks for the comment man and hopefully the video has helped 😊

    Those, buddy, are some ridiculously tight double strokes with your feet.
    Are you able to lead with your dominant foot in each triplet like that? It looks alot easier than my, "lead with the right, lead with the left" approach that is hard as fuck!

    • @jamesmetaldrummer
      @jamesmetaldrummer  Рік тому

      Thank you :) - I am able to lead with both feet but I prefer to lead with my right, it depends on the type of patterns being played.

    This was surprisingly awesome. But did you use triggers for the kick? I won't judge if you did. Raymond even used triggers for songs like this.
    And jesus christ, look at all those copyright claims. Those greedy bastards need to calm down and let people cover music which I thought was covered under fair use anyway

    • @Virvum_Juggernaut
      @Virvum_Juggernaut Рік тому

      Triggers are a must for fast double bass (especially flat-out heal-toe double strokes). They wash out on acoustic bass drums and become indiscernible at speed. The tones selected for the triggers enable a crisper, more defined kick punch, creating a uniform sound and a constant volume for every input from the beaters. Death Metal/Deathcore employ such intricate and fast double kick runs/patterns that triggers have become mandatory in the genres.
      Edit : They are a Godsend ... I’d be lost without them.
