It's been in the low 80s this week, so I'm team sleeveless. I love that the pockets and button band are on the bias. The little patches really complete the top and like you say, it's the details that make your garments special.

I am totally a tank top person in the summer and I love my linen shorts too. I am so glad you liked the upcycle.

You said 'headband' and I'd sure like to see you make one. I know they can be simple, but i also know you would do something quite interesting!

I like both long sleeve and sleeveless. With, sleeveless, there is always the option of wearing it over a t-shirt or long sleeve shirt. So, it can be worn summer, spring, and fall. Love this piece you made - thank you for sharing.

I love you channel! I’ve been trying to learn upcycle clothing and get lots of misses 😂. Which is why your videos are so helpful and comprehensive! Living in AZ I really appreciate no sleeve clothes. 120 degrees here at times 🌵. So more of sleeveless things sound good to me.

I'm so glad you are getting some good out of my videos and don't worry, you will get better as you go. The more you make the better you will get at it. 120 degrees! That is insane! Wow!

I really like this design, simple but special...with sleeves for colder months & sleeveless for warmer months...both work for me! about sleeves though, sometimes they are just too tight so need some altering...thanks for a great video Sherry!

I do like it better without the sleeves.❤
Sherry, with this type of shirt, I like a bike short underneath. Have you ever, or could you, upcycle a stretchy shirt into bike shorts?

I've tried to make leggings with some success. However, I used knit fabric and not a spandex knit and the result is that when I pull the seams I eventually get holes along the seams. I think the issue is that bike shorts/ leggings are made of spandex knits and not just knits. If you want to try and make some, the easiest way is to cut open along the seam lines a pair of old bike shorts and use them for a pattern (adding back in a seam allowance of your choice). Note the mix of the fabric as well and try and find a similar kind. Hope that helps. I may do a tutorial some day on it if I figure it all out.

We have already turned on the AC here in Kentucky. I would need a piece in the "V" to help hide my boobs (if I don't wear a shirt under it). Yes. Someone is going to love wearing that cute tunic.

I would probably add a piece or do the same thing. AC already! Wow...we won't be too far behind you. Usually in late May or early June.

Two questions - do you put your own clothing label in your creations? I've not seen you do that, but others do so just curious. The other is RE your cutting mat - it looks to be about 18" x 55"? On Amazon Australia they have Sullivans The Cutting Edge 18-Inch-by-24-Inch Cutting Mat for $70.28, or the 24-Inch-by-37-Inch version for $395.70. Of course, everything costs more in Australia, LOL. But yours is definitely bigger than that. Thank you!

I have thought about putting on my own labels. I have had customers request labels. One lady asked me for one and said she would put it on her item herself. I suppose I should look into it more. The cutting mat price I paid was much lower. But I did buy mine a few years ago. If I remember right, I bought mine for $45.00 and it is quite large. They had about 8 sizes to pick from when I bought mine. I just checked and our Amazon in the USA still has it for that price. I did notice that they are also called LPDE cutting mats and there are other companies selling them. Mine is the 22x59 inch one. I basically bought one to fit my space. So my suggestion is to make sure you have the work area figured out first and then get the biggest one you can.

Im kinda new to your channel. I really like your design style. You mentioned that u are going to sell this. I see you have an Etsy store. I had one years ago but got frustrated with the algorithms. Do u do well with Etsy these days? Do u also sell on Amazon or at Craft shows? I have hand made crochet & sewn things I'd like to sell also.

Welcome and thank you so much!
Etsy has slowed down for me. It is the economy I think so if you restart your Etsy store just keep that in mind. I have found that daily listings on Etsy helps alot. I think it puts you on more if their pages and also take the time to fill out everything you can in their listing format that they offer you. Free shipping will also give you a boost in the algorithms. Also, you can attach other social media platforms to your Etsy store....like how I'm doing videos. I need to do other platforms as well but just haven't done it....Facebook, Instagram, etc. Etsy has rules for selling on other platforms so you will need to check that out. As of now, I only sell on Etsy.

I don't care for the rippling of the knit at the waist. I wonder if elastic casing at the waist would have looked better?

    • @SherryJonesDesigns
      @SherryJonesDesigns  5 місяців тому +2

I love the ripple but if you are making one, that fun part is that you can try whatever you like. I could have gathered it to the top and had no ripple also but the stretch would have been gone. Which is fine if the top fits without stretching.
