Always safer to stick with "I don't remember." You can't be wrong or contradict yourself later.
Lesley Ann Warren is one of the most convincing actresses there's ever been when it comes to playing mentally unstable characters. Fantastically pretty as well - even today well into her 70s.
Lesley Ann Warren was fucking hot during the 70's an 80's.
Thought it was young SigourneyWeacer😱
she always seems to be at the edge of insanity.
@@hansludwig4732 She's prettier than Weaver.
She was probably playing herself more than likely
I love the sound of Columbo's raincoat.
I noticed that for the very first time watching this clip-and I’ve seen every episode of Columbo. I wonder if they usually muted it in post-production?
Funny. The doctor's sister gave him a cigarette lighter for graduating medical school. Oh, those were the days.
"Columbo" manipulate "Hamilton" so easily , he pretend to forgot where he place his notebook , to see if "Hamilton" was looking at him, instead of reading his newspaper.
Yep. That was smooth!
I get that this was probablythe point where Columbo realized that the doctor was the culprit and began to work to trap him in his usual manner. But what was the thing that ultimately decided him in this direction? What happened to cause him to focus on Collier, all the while pretending to continue pursuing the wife as a distraction?
@@nolanboles8492 Late to the party but to answer your question, I think it was when the dr moved to the other chair. Near the beginning of the scene, he insinuates he was there to give support to the widow, but in the middle of the interview he moves off to the side leaving her to fend for herself. Not smart thinking for someone who allegedly went to medical school. Pax
Not my favorite Columbo episode but is still excellent. This scene is fantastic -- the acting and the mannerisms from all three is phenomenal..
She made such a terrible liar in this scene. Solving this case was just a formality after that!
Columbo just asked for your lighter. You might as well confess. He knows. One more thing...
My boxed set is on its way, just ordered it.
This episode was such a mind bender. The notion that hypnosis could be so powerful. Excellent performances by all.
In real life, hypnosis isn't that powerful. But, in this episode, it wasn't just hypnosis -- it was a combination of hypnosis and medication.
@@jamesfunk7614 In real life it's actually worse....MkUltra
It was probably exaggerated somewhat for dramatic effect here. But they did emphasize that one can't be compelled through hypnosis to act contrary to their capacities--for example, this lady could not have been prrsuaded hypnotically to kill herself if she wasn't suicidal; but she could have been, and was, persuaded by hypnotic suggestion to reenact a favorite episode of her childhood in a manner that resulted in her death. This seems like it could be credible, and shows how diabolical the murderer was in protecting his own interests.
Peter Falk Is the best!
Fantastico Colombo
I like how everyone's autocorrect changes Columbo to Columbus 😂😂😂
Peter Falk was manipulating George Hamilton, George Hamilton was manipulating his future victim 😎
Legit thought that was Sigourney Weaver
Can see why🙂
So did I, from the thumbnail. She really does look like a young Sigourney.
@José Elias I think she's Leslie Ann Warren.
I thought Susan Sarandon
Me too. But I don’t think Colombo was an alien.
01:53 I love the beach this time of year!! DONT BELIEVE HIM LOL .. columbo is so sly 😂😂
This is why you never talk to the police. Wait for your lawyer. Columbo preys on peoples natural tendency to keep yapping. lol a genius at it.
many of the villains are afraid to lawyer up because of the damage to the their reputations such an action might incur.
james duggan also because they are just plain overconfident.
@Harvey Norman Thing is, it is so true to real life. The amount of times I see real criminals 'waive their right to an attorney' because they thought they had committed the perfect crime or they didn't want to 'appear' suspicious and wanted to look cooperative. They start talking then give themselves away.
The difference here is that Columbo was not talking to a suspect, but to a witness, but one who was intimately involved with the killer and trying to cover for him. (Rather stupid, since technically no real crime was committed at this time.). She was not as skillful at coming up with alternate scenarios as other subjects of Columbo's interviews, plus she was rattled and emotionally unstable, which Columbo obviously recognized, and so he began working on the doctor. She made a crucial mistake, though, by causing the Collier to realize that she was a weak link in his defenses and would soon need to be eliminated before she gave him away.
The suspect is never under arrest and doesn't need a lawyer. If they wanted a lawyer that would just raise suspicion.
"Shhhhhh" .........a smart move since the detective could have his ear at the door.
RADIUM CLOCK yet she ignored that talking about how scared she was...
@@HeavenzvoiceI noticed that too however, it's still not an admission, even if it is being secretly recorded.
Full show...please! 🙏🏽
Lesley Ann Warren is so beautiful in this episode.
The Original Cinderella
@@TheStuport, that's how I came to know of her, too! Lol.
Hot!
@@TheStuport Not really. Julie Andrews had already beaten her to that about eight years prior and let's not forget that Walt Disney-animated version from 1950.
When is she not? :)
Il miglior investigatore di sempre.
Si
Columbo: what are u so scared of? xD
George Hamilton's character is so gentle and loving here. He's doing everything he can to protect her, an admirable trait.
James Feldman lol
To protect himself. He was the.murderer after all
It only looks like that if you have never seen the full episode. In reality he was having an affair with her. He then kills her husband when he confronted him. After which he kills her using a combination of drugs and hypnotism when it becomes clear Columbo was not buying her story about intruders killing her husband.
yeah am sure it all worked out well
"protect her"? He bumped her off later on using hypnosis.
We love Columbo episodes, but many of them are deleted or blocked, please make available those for public viewing..........
At 1:46 George Hamilton looks like one of the marionets from the Thunderbirds.
i was just thinking exactly that! it was like a blast from the past
That guy does an excellent Colonel Sanders!
Lesley Warren played Cinderella too
Grande Colombo

I would still marry her today 2019! I've always had a thing for her.
34stzoo haven’t we all 😋
she is so sexy!
She is so old,.... and RICH. AND already married. She's a Hollywood Liberal. SO.... She's Tainted. You can have her, if her husband is ok with that.
@@larrymbouche you just have to bring the politics into it! I do not want her but she was sexy and we all get old, even Republicans.

Oh dear, I thought the lead lady was Sigourney
Weaver. Was I wrong?
Birdie H, I believe that's Leslie Ann Warren, but they definitely favor! I thought Sigourney Weaver when I saw the thumbnail, but I think she is too young.
You know you can find every episode of every series on Wikipedia listing all the actors and everything else? Yes.
Yes, and also on IMDB
@@tilesetter1953 Me too.

Where is this full episode? George Hamilton is one of my favorite actors! Columbo is a pistol! 😅

Nobody smokes in buildings anymore, it's makes this so old.
1975!!!!
Aren't people allowed to smoke in their own homes, including apartments?
I didn’t do it and even if I did you couldn’t prove it.......I write that on my cell wall over and over.....
The murderer here would have walked free if it was real life. When Columbo had him locked him in the room with policemen guarding the door and said he could prove he killed the womans husband, he never read him his rights that said anything he said could be used against him and he was entitled to have a lawyer present. Any admission he made after that would not stand up in court.
No admission was ever made, though. Columbo only ever said that he had a witness to the doctor's presence at the first crime and through subterfuge Columbo induced the doctor to incriminate himself--by using his "knowledge" the the witness was blind to prove that the doctor was there at the scene of the first crime.
No rights necessary at that point. He was not under custodial interrogation.
these idiot comments (from ppl that think they are WAY smarter than they actually are) I keep reading about how Columbo's cases would never hold up in court... You aint original, you know. People been saying it since the shows first aired in the 70's.
All you show is your inability to suspend disbelief and enjoy a good story
Does it bother anyone else, that the picture is hanged so low, that whoever sits in the chair, blocks the viewing of it?
That's not a picture frame, that the back of the chair Hamilton is sitting on.
