      @Maximillian Wylde So I can walk up to a female stranger on the street and slap her across the face as long as I don't intend to cause her bodily harm? I can yank a strangers hair which of course would not involve any intention to cause bodily harm?

    • @NuisanceMan
      @NuisanceMan 3 роки тому +14

      @Maximillian Wylde Incorrect. In California, assault is putting someone in reasonable FEAR of imminent bodily harm. It doesn't even require contact. If you actually cause bodily harm, that's battery. It's pretty hard to slap someone without causing that fear -- although it may not have worked on Columbo!

      He talks about her in lots of episodes to people he doesn't suspect are murderers, including fellow police officers he's known for years as well as the vet for his dog. One episode involves a murder on a cruise, and Columbo is only on that ship because he is on holiday with his wife (who of course is in her room sick the whole story).

    Although I think Peter Falk is a tremendously talented actor...in this particular scene his acting is quite ordinary....but the acting of the woman who has murdered his wife and is in the process of murdering him is quite extraordinary. The pure ecstasy she is experiencing as she watches Columbo succumb to the poison is magnificently portrayed.

      Falk here is not playing a poisoned person. He is playing a cop playing a poisoned person. It’s a bit cheesy and exaggerated - as if he wasn’t a professional actor, but at the same time he wanted to force a confession. Viewers worry if she would see through this blunt performance, but she’s the one blinded - by vendetta. Superb.
