    I just got one too and I like how sturdy it feels. plus it’s crazy fast to edit. even Lightroom HDR merges are so much quicker than my 2019 MacBook Pro.

    Awesome footage and tests, so glad we can finally edit EVERYTHING! No joke, I had to upgrade my 2019 speced out MBP to finish a big client project that had c70, c200 RAW video, footage from my R6 which doesn't run well, and a bunch of effects and stuff. Took weeks on the first edit on my old computer, and then just a day or two for the next edit on the new Mac mini m2 pro.. insane! Wonder how much time was wasted with extended ending.
    Also, lmao at my office hahah

    Just picked up a 14" mbp M2 Pro. Didn't see any reason to go M3. Only thing is got 512 gb, so may have made a mistake with not getting 1tb. Couldnt justify$300 for an additional .5 tb

    Great video again. Thanks! Is 16gb of memory good for your needs? I've heard that 32gb is the way to go. I'm also on the fence about getting the 14" Pro or the 16" Max. I'm not overly concerned with the price jump, but the weight is something I'm really considering. I also heard not to get the Max chip in the 14" because it just can't handle the extra power and it throttles too much to be usable.
    Anyways, congrats on the new laptop. I still have a 2017 MBP and its really showing its age when editing videos and photos.

    • @TaylorBrownPhotoVideo
      @TaylorBrownPhotoVideo  Рік тому +2

      For sure! So far it's been great. I'm liking the size of the 14 a lot but it just depends on what you prefer. If you have the budget why not go with 32 :) It wouldn't hurt!

    Thank you so much for the review, very helpful! I do some heavy editing as a gig and was considering switching from my Windows PC. Wondering how this holds two or three 4k tracks played back simultaneously (preferably in Premiere and I know that Adobe apps are not well optimized on Mac)? Also would you say having 32 GB RAM is more beneficial for heavy editing of 4k footage? I am doubting 16 GB is enough in 2023, but from your video the playback with effects was really impressive on your 16 GB model.

    • @TaylorBrownPhotoVideo
      @TaylorBrownPhotoVideo  Рік тому

      Hey! It’s been great so far. I don’t do a lot of multi track or heavy effects so it’s been totally fine. But if I were you I’d probably go with 32 like you’re saying. Also another great option is the Mac mini + a monitor if you don’t need it to be mobile!

      Hey! I have my MacBook on: Apple XDR Display (P3-1600 nits), Promotion. I just got a new monitor though, and have been editing with sRGB Colors and checking the difference vs Mac Colors + Rec709 Colors because I noticed Apple's Color Profile is a little cooler + more contrasty. Thank you for this video. I have a 15” MacBook Pro - 2018. Things are slowing down significantly so time for an upgrade (unfortunately). I know there is a 16 inch but that 14 inch is mighty tempting. Do you have problems editing on that size screen or would you actually have preferred a 16 inch if your budget allowed?

    • @TaylorBrownPhotoVideo
      @TaylorBrownPhotoVideo  11 місяців тому +1

      For sure! For me it’s better for the portability but yes the screen size gets old for video editing especially. I recently got a 32” monitor though and that’s been so much nicer to edit on. If you don’t need the portability I’d go with the Mac mini and a monitor over the laptop.

    • @popiemac4579
      @popiemac4579 11 місяців тому

      @@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo thanks. I like the portability. I don’t edit video, only RAW images but I’m sure it can get old over time with an even smaller screen than what I already use. A monitor is on my wish list.

    There is not a Windows laptop at the same price point that can come anywhere near matching the Apple M chips for video editing, so it’s the Windows machines that are over priced not the Macs

    I enjoyed the video and really dug the tests. That being said, how how how could you not mention the frame rates you were shooting in. All the reviews are the same. Showing excellent performance with no details as to what is being edited. My M2 max comes tomorrow. I have a 4090 powerhouse Legion i9 PC, does great on 10 bit 422 GH6 footage at 30p but fails big time on the 60p stuff. Sending it back. Every Legion reviewer said the same BS. I can throw anything at it and it eats it up! and then I throw hi rez 60p footage with a slight color grade in adobe premiere and it sucks. So I have to wonder about all you reviewer who know better then to leave out this critical info but do just that. Can you explain wud up wit dat? I do enjoy and learn from your videos.
