It's so weird I got waitlisted at Dartmouth. I mean obviously, my essay was good enough to not be immediately rejected but still haha. But I DID get into Stanford so I'm so glad my essays worked out.
@@rachelbarrera9054 Didn't go well unfortunately. But did get into some pretty cool places and plan on trying Dartmouth for my masters (after 4 years). Good luck with your ED!!
Hi Iris, Can you make an international student focused video?( like how to get scolarships, and some international competitions we can win, badsically international student resources and tips)
Hey this is kinda unrelated to this video but since im a freshman and this year corona came, im kinda worried about my extracurriculars.... I spent my whole middle school in a really small city and did like 0 activitives so im also not very experienced in anything..... Can i still get into my dream school? Please helpppp
Hi iris! I’m wondering if you have any advice on how to tackle supplemental essays on the same topic (community, ECs, etc) but with different word counts (175 vs 400)?
hi iris! i love your videos so much, they are incredibly informative and have made my college application process a lot more bearable haha. i was also wondering if you have a new link for the Passion Project Community? I would love to join but the link you originally posted is no longer active :(
Hey Iris I have a quick question. In terms of the common app did you end up linking your video pal program and talking about it, or did you just describe it?
thx. I have a digital portfolio of all my independent research and mentorship experiences from two years and I didn't know where to put it or whether or not to include the link.😂
I know this is not related, but which college ranking is the most reliable?? 1) U.S. News and World Reports 2) QS World University Ranking 3) Times higher Education Please reply I just want to know because they differ a lottt.
Honestly, I'm not quite sure. I don't think any of them are that reliable bc if you look at how they measure the rankings there're many factors that I (personally) don't care about. Therefore, I'd take all rankings with a grain of salt
Hello again, I also wanted to ask how you created your own website...did you use blog developers like wordpress, etc.. or did you program your website from the ground up?
I’m just asking this to anybody here in general, but if I’ve published a book, is it alright that it’s just an e-book that people can read online? Would that still count as publishing a book in my college app?
Hi Iris thanks a lot for this video. Aside from things we can prepare on our application, do you think contacting adcom or program officer or professor after you have submitted applications, saying that we are very interested in joining the program, would help in admission process? Can they make good recommendation to our candidacy?
Iris Fu oh ok. did u take the sat subject test or just the sat in general ? I’m prepping still with sat but i’m not sure if it’s going to be cancelled due to covid and i don’t want to prep for nothing
Hey! I have been volunteering for over 4 years and I have more than 4000 hours of community services. Will this have the same weightage as 200+ hours of community service??
Hi! i wanted to know do u have any recommendations for online animal volunteering and how many volunteer work should u do for college. last but not least do i need to do both volunteer and extracurricular activities or which one is more important.
I don't think there's really a threshold of how many you should do. Remember, just be authentic and pursue what interests you to the best of your abilities. Like what we talked about, don't do something just for college
Great video! I’m also applying to Dartmouth but I’m worried if my grades are strong enough. Iris, do you think I’ll be able to get in with a 3.96 UW gpa?
Hello naam I am a India student . Currently I am in class 12 which is last class of high school .I wanted to apply in top us universities .The extracurricular which I have is very less I have title of school level scientist with certificate and some sports medal ,some more small extracurricular .Should I apply as freshman or a transfer in 2nd year .Till date I don't have any internship ,nor any social work, any National or international medal .I have written a book but still not published . According to me if I apply as transfer I would get time in my first year of college in India to do multiple internship .,social work, more extracurricular ,read more books ,etc .Is my decision right or wrong maam please tell I need help maam PLEASE MA'AM PLEASE 🙏🙏
Hey, Abhijeet I am from India as well, but unlike you, I am junior(11th). I have been searching and reading about the US college admissions process since the last 2 years, and the only thing I want to say to you is don't ever refrain from Applying, the process in The USA is very HOLISTIC, so they will also see your high school grades, your awards( Sports medals as you mentioned), SAT scores, Intelectual vitality, how much of a rigorous coursework have you taken, your letter of recommendations etc. DO GIVE THE SEPTEMBER SAT, if you have not given the exam till date, becoz you don't have many extracurriculars, this might help in judging your application I emailed the admissions officer at Stanford and she told me that having an athletic background is always good and provides you with an advantage so overall, give the SAT and 1 or two subject tests(if possible) and apply, even if you don't get in apply as a transfer applicant JUST APPLY
@@2pifootball192 you should really take the advice that i give or rather the information that i give as a grain of salt cause i am not really "qualified" or haven't really gotten into any college But still, if you insist, you can hit me up on Iriss' slack channel, I am under the same name

hahaha congrats! there're so many factors beyond essays out of an applicant's control -- so glad Stanford worked out!
Hi please can you help me review my common app essay
THANK YOU!!! There are tons of common app essay examples but I have found so trouble trying to come across a supplemental essay!
Glad this is helpful!
I need a Arpi Park X Iris Fu collab

Sadly Arpi is dead
Update he’s alive again

Hi Iris,

Noted! Planning on a livestream or workshop of some sort just for internationals
Can you please do a video reading and giving tips on the UC personal insight questions? Thanks!
great idea! Will def add it to the list of vids to make
I am applying through Questbridge's regular decision and I am so nervous.

Hmm what i did was I just added more analysis lol (kept the story the same, but elaborated more on how it connected to my learnings/values)
Hey Iris! How did you get to do a double Economics + Computer Science major @ Stanford?
I think that’s one major at Stanford. I don’t know for sure tho

Hello Iris,
thanks for all the useful videos. I wanted to ask if any special skill is necessary to land internships
not really! watch the cold calling/emailing vid for more on landing them :)
Hey Iris I have a quick question. In terms of the common app did you end up linking your video pal program and talking about it, or did you just describe it?
I just described it but put the link in add info
thx. I have a digital portfolio of all my independent research and mentorship experiences from two years and I didn't know where to put it or whether or not to include the link.😂
Thanks 🥰
Thanks for all the support!

Hi Iris,
Can you please host live Q&A videos?
Ahh yes I’m organizing some upcoming ones! Stay tuned :)
Did you put anything in the additional information section? What do you suggest we do in that portion?
I listed some publications that featured my ECs and additional winter break/summer experiences
Hello again,
I also wanted to ask how you created your own website...did you use blog developers like wordpress, etc.. or did you program your website from the ground up?
I used wordpress.org w/ bluehost - many tutorials online!

Yesss
Yes, but you should probably specify "self-published ebook"
Are you doing editing essays?
loooooooooooooooooool i love you connected dogs balls with economics hahahahah
I'm live overseas. Do have u have to make different essays for each college in USA??
I'm kinda curious (not to be intrusive), but what's your organization??? Btw, I live your channel and you are so inspiring!
it was called see the voices and our team made a video on it! (in my extracurriculars playlist if you're interested:)

i also want to know can u chose between sat subject tests and sat ? like which one do top 10 colleges prefer ?
hey vivian, sat subject tests are almost always otional while the sat is required at most schools (at least before corona)
Iris Fu oh ok. did u take the sat subject test or just the sat in general ? I’m prepping still with sat but i’m not sure if it’s going to be cancelled due to covid and i don’t want to prep for nothing
Iris Fu and i’m afraid that i’m taking the wrong sat since a lot of people said sat subjects are required too please let me know thank u
Iris Fu i’ve changed to ACT which is better suited for me
Hey!
I have been volunteering for over 4 years and I have more than 4000 hours of community services. Will this have the same weightage as 200+ hours of community service??
Imo its more about what you get out of 4000 hours of volunteering.. If you do it for college application then no
Me too

Iris Fu how many hours did u work for your volunteer program or how many did u do ?
I have commented on your pervious video but you did not replied please maam please see to it.It was the extracurricular in covid video please maam
Hey, it's difficult for me to get to all the comments. Could you paste your comment here so I'm more likely to find it and respond?
Babygirl is smart and beautiful... DAMN 💕
🥺❤️
Iris, all the schools know the applicants apply 10 or more schools so the question to ask “why our school “is a little bit disingenuous? Agree?
