My grandmother grew up in the countryside of the state of Virgi,. She and my great-grandmother used to make pig feet in the oven. It's awesome to see how others on the other side of the globe in a different culture make them. And it's an honor to have you visit our channel, we can discuss more about our experiences in harvesting and building farms.
Never had pigs feet before. Are they very meaty? Thanks for watching. We will check out your channel soon.
I just watched an hour and a half, of a couple of beet harvest workers and was thoroughly entertained!
🤣 That's awesome. It was long but the whole story needed to be told.
I just recently learned that the chief sugar we buy is made from beets. Wild!
Surprising how much sugar we use is from beets. I always assumed sugar cane.
@@TheAdventureCloset I did too I think the majority of the population do as well
OMG! That was an incredible 2 weeks! Woohoo! You did it! I bet you are proud of yourselves and you should be. That is some seriously some commitment! But you did it and that was some seriously good money for the time you spent there. Ive worked way more labor intensive jobs than that for a whole lot less money! So you kids did real good! Im glad you guys had such a positive experience and it wasnt too miserable for you. But i bet your glad you arent still doing it! lol! Its awesome for a two week gig. I can do anything for two weeks, even if i hate it and im horrible at it. I will be awesome at it and a pro by the time im done! and that was some seriously good money. Awesome video too! Thanks guys! You done did good and no more beet jokes! lol
Haha! We really beet the heck out if those beet jokes. 🤣 You know, you said it when you can do anything for 2 weeks. The pay was motivating and it really could have been worse. The hardest parts were being tired from changing our schedule so drastically. Maybe we'll get the day shift next year. This was such a great opportunity to supplement our income. Wish they did this twice a year. Thank you for watching Lisa!
FIRST !!!! WOOOOHOOOO .... watching the video now I am sooooo excited to see this one
Well we hope you like it!
Ok Now for my real comment .... That was AMAZING !!! and those sugar beats get flipping HUGE !!! Shari loved it in her words " I dont watch movies that long but I just watched a cool sugar beat documentary" ... I have been looking into it and apparently in some of the sugar beat producing states if you have a farm or work for a farmer you dont need a CDL , which may explain the lady who was driving the truck..... I love that Liz got a sucker for safety all safety people should hand out rewards lol ... I also love the Beet truck , beet truck , beet truck , Pickup truck 🤣 ... you guys rock , stay warm and Happy Christmas
Awesome. Thanks Shari! It's true... no CDL needed. Even 14 year olds could drive. It was a simple job and you'd have heat. Would be fun if you joined us next year. We're gonna do Minnesota and Michigan after. MERRY CHRISTMAS YOU GUYS! 🎅
@@TheAdventureCloset Im thinking really hard about it and of course will use you guys as a referral
@@huntingrocksSweet! Don't let that be your motivator but it would be fun to be on the same team.
@@TheAdventureCloset Oh no dont worry its not ... Money .... Now thats my motivator 😆
You just had me watch an hour and a half of you guys working. That's pretty impressive. Keep up the good work. Thanks for great content. Merry Christmas
Lol! Well we are glad you enjoyed. This was our longest video ever but we didn't want to leave too much out.
I am planning to head North for the 2023 harvest. Doing my harvest research is how I found your channel. I am looking forward to the experience. Thanks for the details 😀
Awesome! Maybe we will see you there. We're planning to do Minnesota again and then Michigan.
@@TheAdventureCloset Hey Charlie great job explaining your position. A few questions -
How did you get the Piler operator position.
If I understand correctly you can do Minnesota beet harvest and then head to the Michigan beet harvest?
Did Liz make more $ since she was operating the boom?
Ty
Oh wow that was so cool to see how it is all done ! We use to have a sugar beet factory here in my town before my time that is. When yous said we treated our self to dinner all I could of is the beets in the salad bar, lol I eat beets instead of lettuce at the salad bar for my salad, lol I love the beet dance at the end ! Great job and great $$ for two weeks
Thank you. You guys still have a beet operation on the lower peninsula. We're probably going to do that one next year in addition to Minnesota because they go a little later. You can't beet the pay!
Running the conveyer was really interesting, long days though…..another great video guys!
Thank you. It was such an interesting experience and we plan to do it every year until youtube pays us enough to live.
Unfortunately I rarely have 1,5hrs spare time to watch all these UA-cam videos 🙈 So I will see this whole video in 3 sessions 🤙🏻😅
(will add more to this comment later on!)
You guys rock! 😁😁😁
We hear you. This one was really long. Started with over 4 hours of footage but we wanted the whole story to be told for those considering it. Thanks for watching. We always have a hard time keeping up with everyone around the holidays.
Mark really enjoyed the inside scoop! He’s hoping he will be joining y’all next year 🤞 Y’all did a great job showing the true experience. You can’t BEET the pay 😉
Can't wait and the pay is unbeetable.
If you guys can drive semi, tri-axles, quads, etc. You should look into driving for a farmer. Most are 12 hour shifts, and you’ll be making about $10 more an hour to haul.
We've never driven semi, but it does look like the job to have. Heated cab and out of the elements.
Such an interesting video guys! I watched the whole thing. Great job! Beet truck!!!
Thanks for watching. That's a pickup truck! 🎶
I am so glad I ran across your channel. I have signed up for the beat harvest. I wanted to find somebody that was gonna. Give me a good inside view of what really goes on there and you guys have done that. I appreciate it hope to see you there in 2023 Red River Valley.
Awesome, glad it was helpful. We wanted to make the video we wanted while researching too. We'll be there! Say hello if you see us.
Loved seeing all the machinery, very cool! That was the best documentary ever. That was a very realistic look into the work expected for the work you did. Nothing beats a nice paycheck after hard work. That's a great idea to help sustain van life. You guys prove time and again where there's a will there's a way. Some of those beets were massive and all kinds of funky shapes. That was seriously a cool video seeing all that. That's terrible about the fire alarm! 🤬 We are just starting a bad cold storm so your guys video fit right in to my day....especially seeing how work got called off for our shift. Used to do landscaping so we did snow removal in winter...I could relate to the layers and adjusting to late hours and that whole feeling. Thank goodness was only 8 days for you guys. I'm glad you guys worked near enough to each other. I could tell Charlie you felt terrible seeing your lady Liz stuck in the rain. I know you woulda traded places in a heartbeat. Theres some really gorgeous waterfalls and parks and cool beaches to rockhound on in Minnesota. Hope yall got a chance to do some exploring. We'll find out soon 😁
Hope you guys are staying warmer than we are. Take care and have a safe and happy Christmas. Bye now 👋🙂
Snow removal has got to be big business in Wisconsin. We're lucky this was a little earlier in the Fall and only 13 days. You Midwesterners work longer hours than the rest of the country and in some harsh weather too. You guys are tough! Thanks for watching this long video. We didn't know what to leave out.
@@TheAdventureCloset you know I don't mind long ones. I'm glad you didn't leave any more out tbh. I enjoyed it guys. And true that about the Midwesterners 😉
Thank u !! For all the info.🎆🎇
My pleasure!!
crazy !! thats a heck of a gig !
We're going to do it again for sure!
Nice insight to a very popular question that everyone always has - the financial end of life on the road - the hours seemed a bit challenging - but you will forget all about that when you are out on your next fantastic adventure! Happy Holidays to you and your family! ~Karen & Shannon WOY
The financial part is the scariest part but there's just so many jobs out there. It's fun to try new things too. Thanks for watching!
Techno Charlie is back 😂
🕺🕺🕺
Cool. That was soo cool. You made it a real beet of a time watching your cash come in…. Tnx for the great entertainment.
Haha! Thank you. Had to have some fun with it.
That was soo cool. Just like the TV show Dirty Jobs which I love! Great show and you guys did a great job!
Well thanks! It was quite the experience we never saw ourselves having.
Merry Christmas and stay safe
Merry Christmas!! You as well. 🎅
Love your attitude, thanks for sharing. And the beet goes on....
Awe thank you Cynthia. Can't beet a compliment like that.
Ya'll, that was epic
Thank you! It was a different adventure for us.
Sucks about that fire alarm! I would be furious! Jojo's for breakfast! Yes! Job well done guys! Parts of it actually looked pretty fun. They would have made me a truck driver i think.
No CDL is required to drive truck for agriculture and people take vacation from their jobs to do this. You totally could and would probably do it better than a lot of them.
@@TheAdventureCloset I did not know that! Cool! I definitely wouldn't smash into the equipment or think my wheels fell off 🤣
@@RagnarRocks you're hired! 🤣
I would have wired a heater on day 2.
Yeah it made a huge difference. LOL!
I’ve been watching lots videos lately on the beet harvest, and yours was really enjoyable and
Great information to get some idea, I just sent in app for next fall harvest a few days ago for
Either the Dakota or Montana , I’ve would of used you guys for reference if I seen your video
Beforehand because I think yours was really good..I am converting my Van and will be going
Full time next summer, if I get hired maybe I will run in to you folks ..and keep your great
Video down to earth style rolling..I like it ..and happy new years and happy travels..😊
Wow! Thank you so much. We wanted to make the Beet Harvest video we wanted to see when doing our research on it too. We'll be doing Minnesota and possibly Michigan next year. It is well worth your time and effort. Thank you so much for using us as a referral. Let us know how your experience goes after the harvest.
That was the most thorough beet harvest video ever! I’m tired from just watching it. I do have two questions.
1. How long did it take to recover physically?
2. When can we expect the beat truck song on in the iTunes Store?
Thanks! It took a few days to feel normal again and get our sleep schedule back. I'd put the song on iTunes but not sure we could handle that kind of fame. 🤣
Awesome beat puns, lol! Oh no beat down, lol. Good deal on the hotel stay! I agree I learn hands on! Cool seeing your jobs along the way, what a fun process. Adjusting sleep is tough, not an easy thing to do! Rough times, but worth the pay. Fun place, awesome experience! I guess the shaking keeps you up Charlie, lol! Definitely not the best tool in the shed, lol! You could make a business just picking up the beats off the side of road. Definitely cold days, you dress how I dress outside, so many layers I feel like the kid from "A Christmas Story" who can't put his hands down! That's cool you still get to see the snow rise and set everyday! Definitely a tough job, but definitely worth it. Those conveyer belt trucks are cool, never seen those either! Wow, the drone footage of the beat mounds is crazy, 20' tall and 1/4 mile long! The flap conveyer is pretty smart and designed well! Crazy how big the beats are! I'm glad you tried some! Seeing this whole process is fun and exciting. Glad you shared this whole journey! What an awesome video.
The beet puns were unbeetable! Lol! We felt like kids working around all those trucks and equipment. It really was a lot of fun despite being so tired. The pay was great too for only 13 days out of our lives. Thanks for watching this one Nic!
@@TheAdventureCloset it was my pleasure and fun!
Reminds me of Michigan's thumb area. Looks just like that and dedicated to making sugar
We want to give the Michigan one a try next year.
@@TheAdventureCloset good old caro and sebawaing Michigan
I had no idea that sugar came from beets... Or were you'll playing... Good money for a couple weeks...
A lot of the sugar in the US is from beets. We didn't know that either. It was a cool experience to learn how it is done
Amazing video!! Thanks for sharing!!
Thank you!
Let the beet drooooop! Too bad you couldn’t use a lil beastie boys without getting a copyright strike in your vids. Oh man, i feel your pain on that fire alarm. I did night shift for like 7 years in the oil patch, and it never failed, if the smoke alarm went off, it was in the middle of the day. Kinda surprising they didn’t give you that little space heater sooner in the control cab. Just curious, what drew you do taking on this job? Right time right place? Oh dang, how could I forget…. Merry Christmas Duncan family!
We so wish we could use any music we wanted. That song would have been perfect! We heard about the beet harvest through our friends One AdVANture at a time and it sounded like a really interesting thing to try. Plus anything we can do to keep Opal on the road we will.
Merry Christmas!!! 🎅
Very interesting 🤔 I can drop some beets have experience with phat beets and can even turnup the beets. Charlie’s job looks more stressful but I think he would be more comfortable next time if there was a sound system and lights and stuff. He looked like a DJ up there with dumps like a truck droppin beets like what. 😂 Might have to look into this seriously… I have lots of paid time off saved up but never enough money for a proper vacation… maybe this next year and a vacation in 2 years 🤷🏻♂️😂 would y’all get money for referring me? 🤣
It looks intimidating at first with all the buttons and levers but once you get it down it's super easy. You could drop some mad beets up there and collect some decent vacation money. We get paid $100 for referring people so that's cool, but only do it if it benefits you to use your time off for that. Jeff was thinking about it too. We'd make a full piler team. That would be fun.
@@TheAdventureCloset that’s seriously something to consider! That would make it a lot more fun. Or… we’d all never speak again when it’s over 😂 it’d be a great excuse to look for some agates too
@@dustinfindsrocks lol! I doubt that but agates are for sure. We want to do more in Minnesota next year. We missed a lot.
Quick question: i’m going to be working the Beet Harvest coming up this year 2023 in Minnesota. And I have a Toyota Sienna minivan with a sink and a bed and a table and a heater and everything that they said I need. I’m just wondering why you chose to stay at the motel instead of using your van? Thanks in advance.
Hi there! Our van did not qualify because we don't have a gray water tank. We preferred the motel after all because no competition for showers and free breakfast. Hope you have a great experience!
Great detailed video guys! I might be doing the beet harvest this year. Do you know how far is it from worksite to campground for nomad rvers? I have a class c. Thanks for sharing ✌🏻
Thank you. There were several work sites, so it could range between 5 to 20 mins one way.
This was so interesting and I learned a lot. So cool to have a opportunity to earn some cash flow while traveling our states.
We're hoping to find more opportunities like this. It was an experience.
Hello sir 🙏 good walking 👍👍👍
Thank you!
@@TheAdventureCloset 🙏🙏🙏
Getting used to Graveyard shift.
It was the hardest part!
Good info but you need to cut rough cuts down, this is wayyyy too long, don’t need to know every detail, just what is pertaining to the subject. No offense, I do this for a living.
No offense taken at all. We love constructive pointers like this. We wanted to make a video that was super thorough because every other video we saw was too brief. You know, like a video for the people that like to deep dive into researching something. It's definitely not a quick to the point vid so thank you for watching despite that.
I would have brought a stool...
There was a stool in the tower but you can't see the trucks well while sitting and of Liz had one it would be a tripping hazard. Would have been nice though.
thats b/s i would have went on strike for equal pay , you were doing all the work 😆, and dont believe the rumor i did not pay someone to set the fire alarm off , that looked like it could be fun for a week or two , wow two weeks in a hotel , thats the longest video i ever watched (not counting porn hub) 😆 wait theres a porn chick in your chat i got to go
lol! Thanks for watching our super long video. We just didn't know what to cut out. It was over 4 hours of footage to begin with.
Can you tell me about some of the other jobs?
Sure! Are you asking about at tge beet harvest specifically, or other jobs we have done?
@@TheAdventureCloset More about the beet harvest. Specifically, are most of the jobs working outside on the piles or do some people work in a factory? I’m thinking of going this year and I was wondering what to look forward to. Thank you. You guys make really interesting and comprehensive videos and I appreciate you.
Out of $8,162, how much will have to be taxed?
That is how much we made after tax. Can't remember how much gross was.
@@TheAdventureCloset wow that’s impressive!
Headed back there now. Can't beat it for the short investment of time
@@TheAdventureCloset I hope it goes well for you guys! I want it to work for me too! Thanks for your help!
