Corina, you look adorable. I hope you have more freedom do buy fabric now. I love your channel. I have a PhD in Education! Now I'm retired and love being a grandma!
I've been following you for a while now and in fact used your video's on trousers to fit a pair that were not fitting properly. My daughter is a garment tech but lives a long way from me so I couldn't get her to help but she did explain what was wrong and I looked at your video and sorted out the problem. It is lovely to have stumbled across your first one. You have come a long way and good on you. Although I have been sewing on and off since I was 11 and am now in my 60s, I have learnt so much from you. I can't wait for the next one.
I thought i had seen all your videos and this one popped up on youtube. It was great watching this one and getting to know about you. I don't sew anything without checking out your channel first to see what tips I can glean. Thank you!!
I have been been watching your videos for a while and rely on them. In one comment section someone wrote that watching your video is like taking a master class and I agree. I have been sewing for many years and your videos have given me the ability to step up my results. I live in Pennsylvania and the dominant type of sewing here is quilting and most fabrics and shops are geared towards quilting. Aside from Joanne's Fabrics, my fabrics are purchased online. It is truly a treat to have your videos as a resource. Thank you.
I am already a fan & subscriber but this was a wonderful surprise that popped into my feed. Very much enjoyed "the beginning". You & ur family are brilliant. Stay well.
Oh Karina, what a lovely video. My heart goes out to you for that part of your life where you couldn’t practice your wonderful profession, you couldn’t access the things you needed for your hobby and having your way of expressing yourself in the lovely way you sew and dress. Thanks for all you do and congratulations for all the achievements you’ve made throughout your life. I always feel grateful that I have you on my sewing journey with me. Much love, Susan x
Wow, Karina! I've been following your channel for a long time now and just found your first video! It's nice to get all the personal background❤. Your channel has grown so much and provides some of the best sewing content I've seen on UA-cam. Thank you so much for sharing!
Just found this old video about when you started your UA-cam seeing channel. It was really interesting to hear your story. You have had a very interesting life. Love it
Thank you for sharing your interesting life! I hope you and your family can get back to someplace where you will be happier and more fulfilled. You seem to have done a wonderful job of adjusting. I admire your strength and talent! God bless!
Pockets, really I try to find a way to put them in. I am a girl who loves to have a pocket. Zippers are a hassle and I understand your avoidance of them. Open markets are an interesting place to shop. Throughout your tag I am impressed by how you have adapted your hobbies to were you are and you are staying so positive about it. Thank you so much for sharing.
One at a Time the idea of pockets are good in a practical sense but as a girl with biggish hips they do not suit me at all. Zips are a hassle and I'm still avoiding them!
Hi Karina! I found your first video! I’m so glad you decided to start doing these. I’ve learned a lot watching you! I’m so thankful you are in my life. You persevered and now you are blossoming! 🌹💐🌻🌼 God bless and keep you and your family.
Hello Karina, I have been binge watching sewing channels and came upon yours. You are amazing!! I am a retired Pediatric nurse and have sewed all my life. I am self taught, and have been a quilter for the past 19 years, but now am bitten by the garment sewing bug! I want to sew great classic, good fitting clothes. I am learning a lot online, so thank you for putting yourself out there for all of us to get inspired by and to learn together. Keep these videos coming!
Another hello from NZ. I am not a Kiwi but have lived here for 20 years now and agree that there's no place better!! Love you videos - subscribed immediately! Looking forward o lots more - have watched all that you have put up already! Congrats.
I’ve been watching your channel for a couple years now . This video came across my feed today. So nice to see your first video! You’ve come a long way. I moved to NZ from Canada in 2002. ( married a Kiwi). I’ve never been to Centrepoint fabrics, I wonder if they are still here, if so I’ll have to check them out. Your channel has grown to be one of the best.
Hi Karina, I've been following your channel for quite a while now but have just watched your first ever video! It was great to learn more about your background and see how far your channel has come over the years. You said in this first video you avoid pockets and don't like zips, it made me giggle because your are brilliant at both and so many of your latest makes have pockets ;) It was fun to learn we are actually the same age and I also have been sewing since I was 10/11 years old. Sending you sunshine from Australia, have a wonderful day! :)
¡Hola Karina! Me gusta muchísimo tu historia sobre tu vida! Viajar mucho y vivir en diferentes paises es muy interesante. Hope to see more videos from you very soon! Besos😘
Hi from Auckland NZ. I was just at Centrepoint Fabrics last weekend. You're right it's fabulous. Your videos are so inspiring and thanks for the great tips 😀
Heather McRobert oh I'm so homesick from NZ! Although I was just there for 6 years I still consider NZ my home. Centrepoint fabrics: LOVE... always came out of there with $100 plus worth of fabrics and I still have some. I used to walk from Auckland city hospital where I work over to Newmarket after work. I'm glad you enjoy my videos.
Wow, you've lived in so many places! I don't think I'll even complain about "only" having Spotlight for my fabric after hearing your stories. It must be so frustrating not to be able to go out and buy fabric when you need to. If you'd like to get to grips with zips, I recommend trying to find a copy of the Reader's Digest Complete Guide to Sewing. It has amazing tips for all aspects of sewing, including those pesky zips! I don't like invisible zips myself, so I don't bother with those, but centred and lapped zippers are useful things to learn. (You don't even need a new copy - mine's from the 1980s and it's brilliant.)
I am so envious of all your travels. I've barely traveled at all. I live in the US and have been to Canada (but that barely counts, as I live so close to the border and just drive there and back in a day) and England.
RubyLovesRocket traveling has many interesting benefits but I would also love to have a more stable life.... we are. Probably moving to another country at the end of the year!!!
Yeah. There is an upside and downside to everything. Hopefully your move will bring you closer to fabrics! Although, it's very clever to upcycle thrifted clothing. I have plans to do just that with a few very oversized t-shirts.
Hello CorinaSo pleased I came across your vloggs I'm loving them you are very interesting and a talented seamstress I was just thinking with your refashioning skills and ideas you would do so well on the Sewing Bee a popular sewing tv series that comes on our screens once a year and is very popular here in England.I am very new to sewing I'm learning so much and I love it and the outlet to be creative. Like you I am a midwife .I work in a very busy inner city regional unit and I love it . I'm so fortunate in that I have so many resources available to me . Your varied lifestyle and travelling is awesome . Looking forward to working my way through your vloggs I'm a poor sleeper sewing vloggs inspire me and keep me sane so thankyou
Nice to meet you, I love all the beautiful dresses that you make, they always look so professionally finished, I am new to sewing and not very confident with linings.
What an interesting life you’ve had. I loved getting to know you. I can relate to not having access to very much fabric, not to the extent you are experiencing but I lived in Ireland for 20 yrs and I’m not kidding you nobody did dressmaking there. I was able to buy online but shipping was way to expensive. I’m back in England now so I’m content again. I’m really enjoying your vlogs and I’m learning from you. I can tell you are a very dedicated seamstress. Keep up the good work! 😊
Thank you for watching. I’m in Brazil now, so the fabric is quite plentiful yay! Those years in Bolivia helped in a way because I dove lots into refashioning from used clothes and sewing those garments as “fabric”.
Hi Have subscribed to your channel. I first saw your recent May refashion v4 and have gone back to the beginning! The refashioning title got my interest! Hello from Australia.
Sewn by Suzi hi! Happy to connect with you via UA-cam! I ❤️ Australia. I've spent many years there since my childhood. Many important things have happened to me there. In my channel you can see loads of Makes, hope you enjoy 😊.
I would love to see more of your workouts and how they affect your sewing. Mainly any weight loss, muscle gain, etc. Anything from lifting to mountain trekking to whatever you do for exercise. Thanks for the great, informative videos!
Sandy Bush they really don’t affect much. When I gain or loose weight it seems to be proportional throughout, first in my upper body / clavicle area. I have a range of chronic conditions that make loosing weight SUPER difficult.... I mainly do it for my mental health, strength and bones. I don’t have a bodybuilder type physique because I’m tall and lanky”ish”.
Kia ora Karina fron New Zealand. Im glad you loved nz . I too will stop grizzling about only having a spotlight. angelakane.com is great for invisible zippers. I wish you all the luck with your sewing. I loved your vlog and have subscribed. :)

It sounds like a move at the end of the year is much needed. Sewing is great for keeping sanity! 😘
Absewlutely Fabulous probably Argentina or Brazil. But sewists always find a way!
😍
Amazing creativity using used clothes for fabric and designing your own patterns!
Beautiful person! We have come a long way together 😀
We sure have! I was very committed to the channel when I started and I’m glad I plowed through and kept going.
I'm only on question one and I love the video already! And your lipstick is SO pretty!
Hobbling Handmades thank you! Always big on the "redish" lips :)

You look really cute here, love your hair this length!

Julie Sewaholic I miss midwifery so much! Here in Bolivia I'm stuck at home because midwives don't exist... go figure. Thank you for your kind words!
