Hey, so far this tutorial here was working. After my AppleTV was shut down by power shortage I can’t make it work. Everything seems to work fine and when it reboots it’s just like the jailbreak never happened. I tried 3 times.

Trollstore seems to be broken on tvOS 18.1 - always freezes and i cannot do anything with it. Any workarounds? I simply want kodi and a youtube ad free app if possible
I’m at the stage where I press enter to enter DFU mode but I get the error - whoops!, device did not enter DFU mode and I have the option to enter again but I end up with the same error. Any help here ?
Funny I was able to jailbreak but when I installed Trollstore I no longer have palerain and when I rejailbreak it doesn’t show up anymore. I still have Trollstore.
Did you hit Ctrl & C to stop Palera1n and retype the command if so try a different version of the nightly and follow the video step for step also make sure your using the right binary for your example a Mac intel system is X86_64 or try the universal one
@@DXcool223 I tried a newer version but it now isn't even detecting the apple tv in dfu mode. I should say that I am using a vm of Big Sur and i think the problem is with the usb not working properly on a vm. i think I am going to have to try to install hackintosh. 🤷♂

it's probably cooked. If it shut off during a critical boot strap update, you can't recover anymore since the original Apple OS is gone and cannot be be recovered.
Thanks for this. I read a post of X that if you jailbreak, install Trollstore & apps via Trollstore, if you restart the device Trollstore remains along with the Apps. However the jailbreak does not. Is this true for 17.1-5?
@@prod_yhoo yes that’s what I mean, as long as you keep your Apple TV plugged in trollstore will work… you can even let it sleep but if you unplug it, you will have to rejailbreak the Apple TV
I haven’t tested anything past 17.5 but it works on 17.5.1 anything above that I have no clue I would need to test it out and atm I am extremely busy.. I Know that Palera1n is broken on iOS 18 I would expect the same for tvOS, if you can get a device on 17.0 or below it has a coretrust bug allowing you to use trollstore even when the device is not in a jailbroken state .. you can also install trollstore on a Apple TV 4K “not a JB just Trollstore” if it’s below 16.6 with misaka but if it’s on 17.0 you will have to wait for a install method
@DXcool223 I bought an Apple TV 4K 2022 like 7 days ago and it came with tvOS 17.5.1, and as you’re saying, it won’t work since there isn’t any support for it. Is there anyway else besides these methods to get troll store somehow on it, or should I go ahead and purchase a 2015 TV?
@@Jkingnick yes, you should go ahead and buy an Apple TV HD on eBay if you want a jailbreak, but if you just want trollstore I highly suggest you get a Apple TV 4K go on eBay and ask around and see what firmware it’s on, I got my Apple TV 4K 3rd gen sealed in the box on 16.6, you can try to go to Best Buy and pick up a Apple TV 4K and see if it’s on 16.6 if not just return it… but the best bet is eBay message a lot of people and ask them what firmware the device is on

No there is not…and I heard it’s more difficult to do on Linux and just doesn’t seem to run that good but it does work, but I seen nothing but problems with other people attempting to jailbreak their Apple TV on Linux so I suggest Mac, Make a hackintosh that’s what I did VMware will not work btw it has to be a hackintosh
@@DXcool223 for me, it was easier and took less time then it took you to do it. Instead of a long command to make a file executable, it's just chmod +x and its basically the same from there on

DXcool i got through everything except installing troll helper. It gets stuck like you say and I wait like 5 mins, but when I restart springboard, nothing is installed. I’m on Apple TV HD 17.3. Any ideas ?? Thanks for video.
@@luckydezl install troll helper though ssh you need putty to use ssh,type Apple TV IP address & login as mobile then set root password “sudo root passwd” the set the password to alpine after that get troll helper from zenzeq from GitHub then use winscp, login as root place the deb in var/mobile the install the deb with but login as root now not mobile using putty using this command dpkg -i /path/to/deb i will be updating the video soon subscribe and ill have this in a new video along with other stuff

So I had that problem earlier today that I mentioned in my first comment. Where it wouldn’t install troll helper. At that time I unplugged my Apple TV. Then I come back to try to ssh and plug it in and power on and I notice I have to re-jailbreak. I did so and what do you know…troll helper is there now. I guess it did install from that first time. I installed and also now installed trollstore. We are good to go now!! Thanks again for your help. I am still looking forward to your new video.
I didnt get the repo that you had at 6:57 (edit) I clicked in palera1n instead of restart springboard (or pineboard) I clicked “user space reboot” im on tvOS 17.5.1 and I am doing this later than this video so I’m pretty sure things are the same for installing and jb your Apple TV, it’s just updated software
Hey friend, I haven't been in the jailbreak scene for two years. I have a first generation apple tv 4k, foxlink x892 cable, dcsd cable and tvOS is 17.5.1. Will your method in the video work for me?
If I were you, I would go to the jailbreak Discord and ask around... they might have fixed the bugs because this can brick your apple TV 4K and it would be a paper weight.. and I never done this to a 4K 1st Gen before there are probably going to be some extra steps
If you do not have a USB C on your Apple TV you can’t jailbreak it, because it’s a 4K Apple TV if it’s on 16.5 then you can install trollstore if it’s above 16.5 buy a Apple TV HD on eBay
it doesn't matter, you just need a mac that can support all of these apps, id recommend at least Catalina on a 2013 mac or later. though that could possibly be outdated
For new people who aren’t even on TV OS 17 or earlier (TV OS 18 and above depending on when this is seen) I will try this again SOON not currently and see if it works on TV OS 18.1 on the TV HD and update this when I can. And keep in note you need an apple Mac device, atleast that’s Big Sur and above I’d assume. your have a 4k so you cant unless you hvae the 1st gen 4k and 2 special cables i highly dought you have the first gen 4k apple TV and even if you did I would jailbreak it because if somthing goes wrong you will brick your Apple TV and it would be a paper weight
yes it can be done on mac but its a pain in the butt, and I heard its really buggy you best best is to boot mac on your windows machine with hackintosh just look up how to install hackintosh, I will look into the Linux version when I get a chance

Funny I was able to jailbreak but when I installed Trollstore I no longer have palerain and when I rejailbreak it doesn’t show up anymore. I still have Trollstore.
Make sure to update to the nightly this will fix this problem. It’s hard for me to continuously update the URL every night.
This jailbreak is in beta so it’s technically, for beta testers, so there will be bugs like this all the time until it gets more stable

Just reset, the Apple TV and redo everything again if you have problems, resetting it, put it in recovery mode with remote your Apple TV is just fine

No, that’s incorrect. The coretrust bug is only present in 15 - 17.0, so if you turn your Apple TV off, you’re going to have to re-jailbreak it

I’m on a Mac M1. Is putty still best to use on a Mac?

My Apple TV doesn’t have a usb plug too plug into my computer. I just have the HDMI, the power port, and the Ethernet port.

Make sure you use the latest Palera1n or it will not work
