People I hear you * even if you can barely hear me * The overall volume was lowered so you couldn't hear the loud fan noise coming from the Wacom Cintiq. I no longer have a RODE mic a it was stolen a while back with my old Canon camera at a comic con. So PLEASE know I have READ you all loud and clear and will make sure the audio is high enough so following videos. Also alot of you are new so please go check out the old video to see why I dont have lens in the frames. Even though the logo and intro should hint at it!
Thank you!!! this is what I wanted to hear, you saved me money. Everyone talking about video rendering, benchmarks and everything but not testing for art stuff or even programming.
Thank you for giving us artists a TRUE review! I own an iPad and Procreate and want to move towards the Apple Mini M1, but because I know it to be a new processor I wondered how programs would truly run on it. Every video I've seen to date are quick to dish out the pros and glaze or hold back on cons.
I think you should do an updated video on M1 Mini today with latest Monterey and with sidekick and universal control connection to iPad Pro iPadOS 15.5. Blender 3.1 is also much more optimized now.
Thank you for this, knowing Blender crashes in Cycles on the M1 is a huge issue. I know Luke Miani ran a couple of Blender tests which seemed to work with the classroom and BMW but he didn’t say if it was Eevee or Cycles. So it’s better to see it from a Blender creator’s standpoint. I was going to get the mini to replace my late 2014 iMac, might wait now! Thanks!
Yea i would wait until 2021 Jan-Feb or when ever the drivers are out that function for the M1 chips. Blender is hell of smooth in M1 but the cycles thing sucks. Over all if you just use eevee is work well. Also I am running mine on a Wacom 24 so there is a double emulation happening there as well.
The new OS, Big Sur, deleted an old C library that has been deprecated for six years. Lots of programs didn't change to the new library, so they don't run.
The lack of GPU Rendering and Nvidia GPU compatibility is a huge drawback. At the end of the day, use case matters, and if it works for some, then great! I hope it improves! That all being said, as a 3D Artist who heavily relies on real-time workflows, alongside regular GPU usage for such software as Blender, Maya, Substance, Unreal, etc. Macs just don't make the cut...yet. Either way the cost has always been an apparent issue.
Ahhh ok that is new to me but I trust it apple would do what makes it work and look best. Thanks for that info bro bro...i may do video on the build but for me have the wacom as the main just works
Thank you. I really liked to hear your experience with the new M1 as a creator and artist. As a little side note, I had to crank up the volume on my MBP 16" speakers to 50% level, which typically is way too high when consuming other content. 👍

Currently running TVPaint, ZBrush, and Blender on my M1 Mac mini with a Huion tablet. Only problems I’ve had are with opentoonz which I stopped using as soon as I got TVPaint. I too love my iPad Pro. Thanks. Apple highlighted Blender support in one of their M1 promo’s according to a recent Blender Today (sorry I can’t remember which). Not sure when or if it’s going to appear before it makes sense to focus on next cycle(s) of Apple Silicon products.
Nerdys Art Lab There’s already a preliminary native version you can try out. The main roadblocks are Cycles and Embree, and there’s initial fixes for those. Apple themselves contributed some fixes
Thank you very much, this is very useful to me. I was planning to buy a mac mini, but I am also using a blender for main work, your clips stop me. And wait for purchase when the cycles is fully functional on the M1 chip
I think it will be fixed but as of right now yea nooo lol. But when cycles does work I honestly think the render times will be next level which is why I bought it
Thank you so much for testing this! I actually considered having a setup just like yours (Wacom 24 pro tablet with an M1 Mac mini). I haven’t tried Affinity but I hear it is such a good program , may have to test it out. The Mac mini is great man it is so snappy and quick with most anything you throw at it
