I popped down to see Ian and he was kind enough to explain the academy series in more detail, it certainly sounds like a great way to get into competitive motorsport
I test drove a Caterham (mid spec, nothing fancy) in Denver, Colorado. It was wonderful fun. I was impressed with how easy it is to drive. The familiarization process and nervousness that sometimes one goes through when driving an unfamiliar car simply fell away. Some weeks later I was invited to ride along as passenger at a track day, the driver being an ex-Caterham professional racer. At full chat the car was composed, probably in large part to the expertise of the driver. One thing to note if street driven in the US, the enormous SUVs would have me carefully choosing which roads to take.
