Great! I'm a 13 year old female in high school and I am making a top for the first time but having been knitting since I was 6! This was so helpful thanks! xx

Most feared words for a beginner: "just do it as you normally would".
    Thanks.

I'm attempting my first pattern. It's a bralette top with straps. I *panicked* when I read that she had crocheted the straps! I already have hooks but never tried them. I saw a note about i-cord crotchet for stronger thicker straps and I am beyond pleased to find out how simple they are to make. And I already have double pointed needles! I'm totally gonna practice this. I'm so glad to have found your video! ❤

This is a revelation for me, earlier I used much more difficult way of making I-cord and always avoided making it. Thanks a lot. Very helpful!

I remember seeing patterns that mentioned I-cords but for some reason I always thought they seemed difficult.
This tutorial makes it all so easy to understand though, I'm sure I can make one now. 🙂
Thanks a lot for this video, it gave me an idea for a craft project right away! 😄

I'm glad you said you could make an I-cord with 6 sts, that encouraged me to close the crown of a baby hat with a little one and it came out great!

Fabulous tutorial. I've been trying I cord on the French knitter and use the cord for weaving, but it seems a very slow process. I don't knit very much, but I think I like this method. Thanks a bunch.💖🇦🇺

    Hey Jennifer,
Thank you for such a nice tutorial on how to knit an I-Cord. I appreciate the three stitch technique. Exactly the one I need to finish a project. And it’s so neat to see someone else that knit without nail polish. :D And Thank you for the suggested uses.

When I was looking at knitting needles I saw that there were the double pointed ones and the (I think) standard looking needles... so eventually I'll probably want both kinds but think I can deal with just a standard set! Thank you for showing us how to do this!

    • @amandaryznar3127
      @amandaryznar3127 6 місяців тому

If you can only buy one pair of needles, I think a long circular would be the way to go. You can use them as you would standard needles (back and forth) or to knit large projects in the round, or smaller projects in the round by using the magic loop method. I realized while watching this video, they can also be used to make an icord:)

Thanks for the easy tutorial! I'm planning on making a floor pillow and got confused when the pattern I picked out said I needed to make an i-cord. The book I've been learning from doesn't have any instructions for making them and my Grandma didn't know what I was talking about when I asked her about them!

Can anyone help me with this? I tried pulling the working yarn which is in the left most side, to knit the right most side of the cast on stitch. since m pulling the last stitch (working yarn) towards the first, a straight line is forming at the back of my stitch through out. I am not understanding whats wrong with the technique am doing.

I Cord was originally Idiot Cord, a la Elizabeth Zimmerman's Knitter's Almanac, 1974. Look on page 146.
As I remember, the name came about because, more or less quoting tho I've not yet found it in the book, so simple even an idiot could make it.
I love the hat and found out from one group mine should be yellow. Well.....maybe.

@Margie S. Thank you so much for the Elizabeth Zimmerman quote. I have read that a person stays alive as long as someone alive still remembers them. Which means Elizabeth Zimmerman will be alive long after I am gone.

It puts the working yarn in position to close the gap at the back & pull it into a circle.
